  1. Yea I understand that. I didn't know he actually bidded on this after he won the bid, since we live in the different country (and diff. time zone). Just thought it will be nice to share this info on the board so people will know what other hotels joined priceline!
  2. My friend actually booked this hotel via priceline by himself but I just thought it will be nice to share the information to share this with others who may needs it. ($89 EU = 113 USD) I heard that he tried to bid 4* but he got declined so he has to use 3* hotel instead. I don't know if its true or not that the hotel in Amsterdam is very expensive , esp on wekends, hope this helps!
  3. those 2 hotels are like 2 blocks away from each other. Where as Omni has ocean view and next to the stadium while Solamar is next to the gaslamp. If u like the bar scene then Solmar is a better choice. Btw, Marriott Gaslamp is right inbetween the 2 hotels, its like a chain of hotels on the same street. One thing, Its hard to park in the area so U have to prepare to park valet or selfpark @ the hotel. Solmar's front desk is very small tho (I stayed at Grand Hyatt this past wkend, its HUGE! and their buffet is worth trying :)
  4. thanks for ur advice! I will try to ask for the room away from the front of the hotel. Do u think its worth it to pay for the upgrade to the seashore(sp?) tower? Also do we get in & out for the valet parking?
  5. I guess I will just try to park in the hotel parking since they do offer the in & out for the guests (I hope!). I am just worried since the recent tripadvsior review complaining about how firm their bed is and they still have those floral cover (guess Hyatt haven't upgraded their bed like hilton n other hotels yet). Also people mentioned their stuff were stolen from the room and house keeping didn't do a good job cleaning the room so I was like "wow!" Thats why I want to make sure :) In regards to the room of the hotel, should I give them the call to ask the type of room that I wanted in advance? (King bed, high floor, away from elevator w/view)? Will they granted my wish? Usually at the other hotels that I stayed at granted my wish (hilton is really good at that) - see my preview stay of SF hilton about it. I just need to know the best strategy for me to get to the right room. anyway, thank for your advice!
  6. After previous unsuccessful bids with SD hotels. My friends & I decided to try other dates instead for SD. (Was wishing for Omni hotel but oh wells), Here is how my bid works. Select 4* Downtown... Bid $70, rejected Bid $75, rejected Bid $80, rejected Bid $85, rejected Bid $90, rejected Bid $95, rejected Bid $100, rejected Bid $105 = Accepted! 4* San Diego (Downtown-Harbor Island) Manchester Grand Hyatt Date: 7/8/06 - 7/9/06 Price: 105 + 20 tax& surcharge = 125 Amenties include: Remote Control TV with Premium Channels Telephone with Voicemail Radio Alarm Clock Iron and Ironing Board Hairdryer Business Services 24 Hour Front Desk Restaurant Room Service Bellman Concierge Fitness Center Access Booked Via SB link, always :) **** 1. Can you guys help me out with the parking? where will be a good place to park around the area? How much will the hotel parking to be? 2. I see mixed review on the tripadvisor (some are horrible, actually). Can someone give me an idea what type of room I should ask for to get the best location/view of the hotel (or like which tower, etc)? 3. Has anyone tried the sunday brunch in the hotel? is it good? I am willing to try diff. buffet brunch as long as they are good n have variety of seafood (raw oysters+++). 4. One of my other friend booked Omni Hotel on Expedia previously for 250/night for the same wkend w/ free upgrade to the oceanview room. She's there for the bar exam so that might be the reason why the hotel is low on inventory/high in price for that weekend. I'll try harder for Omni next time! Thanks so much for all of ur help!
  7. I tried to bid on priceline for the 4* SD on the 28th of July. No luck with Omni what so ever. I tried to bid up to 135 still got rejected. SO I gave up and trying on other wkend instead. maybe this is the busy month for them thats why
  8. Was helping a coworker booking this hotel. Since it was a last minute deal, Priceline did not accept the offer for 85 bucks for 2.5* hotel in the same area so we decided to book this hotel just to be safe. It has good review but I noticed there's a renovation going on right now so hopefully it will not be too bad once my coworker gets to stay there. Anyone have an idea how far is it to drive to Legoland from there? Thanks Of course, used SavingsBarn link :) Too bad this hotel price went up since the last post ($76/night) otherwise it will be perfect! 3* Customer Favorite in Carlsbad-Encinitas-Del Mar was indeed the Doubletree Del Mar as hoped. $96/night 07/03/06 to 07/04/06 Amenities shown: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-Speed Internet Access
  9. Tried to bid 4*. Added all the zones, no luck til 200-220$usd/night! (CRAZY!) I think I will try my luck again for 3* tomorow. Is it possible for me to get a room for 3* in downtown SD area for around 100USD do u guys think? or it might increase my chance of getting a room if i want to book a 2 nights stay (28 to 30th) since some hotels requires 2+ nights stay?
  10. Thanks for helping. I saw on the website where Omni charges $279 on that night (where for the same night they usually charges for 239). So do you guys have any idea which other 4* hotels will poss. show up with that price/area/date? (I know it may not be exact, but just would like to have an idea, thank you)!
  11. Hi, Please help me come up with a bidding strategy for the weekend of 7/29 to 7/30 for a 4* hotel in SD. I saw many people come up with the success with Omni hotel and I would really like to stay there, if possible. I am willing to pay up to 100 usd/night for the 4* hotel. Please give me some ideas/suggestions, thanks !
  12. Lucky you! I pass by the Hyatt Regency hotel when I was on vacation this past memorial day weekend, looks very nice outside!! its such a low rate :) So jealous!!! haha Enjoy ur vacation!
  13. That's true with the inflation in EVERYTHING , its hard to find a great deal anymore (hey, even the motel 6 by my house charges 44.95/ night on a weekday night! My friend is leaving tomorrow and i asked him to bring his laptop with me so once he's there I will update the post on the room n stuffs. I am going on a trip myself too to SF this coming weekend @ Hilton FD, I will update on the hotel room that i am going to get too.
  14. It's a pretty last minute bid, we tried bid on hotels few days ago for 3 consecutive nights, no lucks at all even for a 2* hotels! My friend was pretty frustrated and about to book a hotel on Expedia/Travelocity"]Travelocity due to the fact that he has no luck with priceline. Anyhow, right before he booked, we decided to give a last try and we found a 3.5* hotel listed on hotwire in Waikiki central for $85/night (best value) so we figured that there are more inventory for the room for the priceline as well. So, we started as follow: 1. Waikiki North for 75, rejected 2. Added Waikiki South for 77, got accepted! My friend is very excited and yet happy about the fact that he saved 60% off the price of the room (189.99 retail). It gave him more bucks for him to spend on the island activities and yet buying a gift for his parents back home in Vancouver. Thanks all! What a GREAT Bargain. Its his 1st success yet my 2nd success bid with Priceline. we'll use priceline to book hotel from now on. Yes I did asked him to use SB linkto book the trip :) FYI: The hotel price went up to $88 on Hotwire. Must due to the fact that the cheapest room has been taken. Is it a good idea to call hotel ahead to request for the better room?
  15. for 4* he thinks 110-125 3* approx 90? 2*.. 50-60 range. do u think its appropriate or possible?
  16. I know this is in a rush but a friend of mine is going to Honolulu next week, I tried to help him to bid via SB and we tried few times with no luck. Can someone give me an idea on how to bid for the hotel in Waikiki N or S area ? We first tried 4* ... bid up to 115 USD - rejected Lowered to 3* ... 90 bucks - rejected we even tried 2* for 50 - no luck!!!!! is it a really popular days to go or we just had a rough day? We saw Ohana Sky Maile court for 69/night so thats our very last option. Can someone give us a better bidding strategy? please help !!
  17. It sure does! I drove by the hotel few times before, looks nice although its a few blocks (not an ideal thing to WALK to disney) from disneyland..but hey..Hyatt...49? what a great match :) I am going to SF for my memorial wkend trip too. man..ur deal is alot better 4 sure tho!
  18. wow so lucky! thats like a motel price for a 3* hyatt! have u stayed there before????
  19. HOw'd u like Marriott??? is it nice?? I am curious if its nicer than hilton or its about the same since i am going to be there for the following wkend, thanks!
  20. This is my very first post. I read and skimmed thru most the post regards the SF hotel and how to bid on priceline/hotwire so I decided to give my first shot for this upcoming memorial day weekend. I placed the bid for 80 bucks for the 4**** hotel in SF USE area, few seconds later it went thru and tells me that I won the bid for going to this hilton for 80 bucks for 2 nights so its 80 x 2 = 160.00 + 31.91 tax (191.91). Can someone tell me if its a good deal or not for the long wkend? Also, I am planning to come from LA area, would it be a good idea for me to fly up there or drive up there since the gas is like insane. If i am going to drive up there...where is a good place to park around the area? For the hotel...what kinda rooms should I be expected / or what rooms I need to request for upon (or before) check in???? Its my first time there for years...so I am really excited. Please help me out so I can utilize my trip experience! thanks so much! :)
