Thanks, thereuare!! After I hit their website to look around, I could tell you totally nailed this ID. I wish the hotel had breakfast included, but since it has a full kitchen instead, I'll fry my own eggs wearing my PJs!

  4. Finally! Crowne Plaza West Palm Beach Hotel Palm Beach Airport (PBI) - Palm Beach Lakes 1601 Belvedere Road West Palm Beach, Florida 33406-1583 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $44.00 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.65 Total Charges*: $56.65 Didn't really care where I stayed for one night in the area. I started bidding 3.5* at $43 thinking I might get the Doubletree or Marriott in Palm Beach Gardens per this board. Eight rebids up to $58 and no luck. Dropped down to 3* and started at $37 and rebid another five times before $44 paid off. Got the "You can bid again right now if you increase your bid $12," offer when I bid $42 so I knew I was getting close. Used the board's PRICELINE support link, of course! Lowest price on hotel website: $159
  5. This appears on the calendar of wins for a range of May 2010 dates for Florida Priceline.
  6. This appears on the calendar of wins for a range of May 2010 dates for Florida Priceline.

  8. Hey, thanks, thereuare, It was just like you said. Enterprise was really crowded when we showed up; I got nervous looking at all the waiting folks and told them I was heading for Thrifty. They asked me to allow them to prove their good service and in 20 minutes I was riding off in a midsize upgrade.
  9. Thanks for the hand holding, and I'm out of tries for a Priceline win, so Enterprise, here we come. Glad I got the HOTWIRE reservation when I did, cause prices have gone up. Now if tropical storm Erika will just track a lot farther south . . . lookin' kinda wet in PR for the next few days. :)
  10. Sorry if I don't know much about how car rentals work, I'm a rookie for sure. OK, that explains it about Hotwire not being prepaid and why I could choose Enterprise by name. So, do you think it's all right to trust the Hotwire confirmation about the Enterprise car, even though Enterprise itself gave me a "no availability" for the same time, place and car when I tried to book it directly? It seems likely that Hotwire will make the reservation and let the customer repent at leisure when standing at the counter with no car in sight. To recap, using the board's support links, I attempted to book a compact car with Enterprise for Sept. 3 - 9, 2009 from SJU. Told it was not available. I went through Hotwire, which gave me retail options, chose Enterprise and received a confirmation for a compact car Sept. 3 - 9, 2009 from SJU. Would you trust Hotwire to make Enterprise deliver? We're only talking about a $7 savings over my Thrifty confirmation. And is there any downside to keeping both confirmations until I'm actually standing in the San Juan airport trying to pick one up? No money has changed hands and no credit card numbers were taken, yet. Do I post this as a Hotwire "win" under rental cars? Thanks for sharing all your invaluable experience and assistance!
  11. The HOTWIRE itinerary confirmation (for a compact car, as was the Enterprise attempt) shows taxes and fees at $19.30. That's approximately what the PRICELINE bids listed up until Sunday. Then -BAM- the Priceline fees went above $50 dollars for the exact same bid. Then this morning I tried again and the fees are $28.15! It's really weird. Possibly moot, however, since I don't think Priceline's going to accept my bid. Why doesn't HOTWIRE charge me for my rental car reservation? The confirmation thanks me for booking through Hotwire and says rental charges will be billed by Enterprise when I return the car. Don't they have prepaid car rentals like their hotel products?
  12. Has anyone ever experienced a situation where placing the same Priceline bid for a rental car 24 hours later, resulted in a different amount for taxes and fees? I'm bidding for San Juan, Puerto Rico everyday, without increasing the amount of the bid. I bid August 29, and the taxes and fees were $19.21. I bid August 30, and the taxes and fees were $49.40 on the same exact bid. Any thoughts? I'm bidding for a compact car for six days, Sept. 3 - 9, 2009. I have back-up reservations booked through your links to Thrifty ($152.06) and Hotwire ($145.20). The reason I made two was because booking directly through Enterprise resulted in a "no availability" message. But booking through Hotwire and choosing Enterprise gave me a reservation. Can I trust it?
  13. Your Offer Price: $35.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 1 days Taxes and Fees: $16.72 Total Charges: $51.72 Lowest Published Price: $76.66 Total Savings:* $24.94 (You saved 33%) First bid accepted; I should have started lower since I have some time. Did a really dumb thing by clicking on the link in an email just to check prices and then forgetting to go through BetterBidding to place the bid. Won't make that mistake again! :)
  14. First attempt in Ocala was accepted. Bid 2.5-Star for $35 and was upgraded to 3-Star Hilton Ocala. Previously tried a bid in Lady Lake @$35, declined; added Leesburg @$37, declined. 15. After looking for a deal at a specific hotel in Buckhead near Atlanta, GA, I found this post and tried this website's link to LastMinuteTravel. It was truly last minute that I was booking, and the five different times I tried the link, I got a message of "Page Load Error - Connection Interrupted" so I had to enter the url myself. I was shopping after 9 p.m. for check-in the next day and leaving on the drive before 9 a.m. I booked through LastMinuteTravel for the Doubletree in Buckhead and saved around $60 a night by doing so. This hotel wasn't available on Hotwire and did not look to be likely through Priceline, so I was really psyched to find this post and that there was a BetterBidding link. Sorry I wasn't able to point out my difficulty with the link in time to get some assistance to make the link workable. But I'm back now and wonder what can I do to help support BetterBidding if the need to use LastMinuteTravel arises in the future? LastMinuteTravel may be opaque but it was easy for even an unsophisticated traveler (like me) to figure out what hotel was being offered. The Doubletree was lovely and I blew the money saved on a new pair of shoes purchased in Atlanta! Thanks again, BetterBidding ! ! !
  16. Hi, Do you have any idea on this Macon property offered at $44 for 7/11/09? Thanks. Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access It mentions 3.5 out of 5 at TripAdvisor with 20-plus reviews.
  17. There is one hotel of which I am aware that offers extended Disney hours and has had recent Priceline wins: Resort Orlando (WDW) Hilton There may be others.
  18. Used this hotel for a quick two nights while my husband was working a board meeting. My daughter and I needed a place with Disney shuttle service and after using the board for research on likely wins, found that each of the previously posted wins in the WDW zone at 3* provided shuttle service. Paid under $50 a night -- what a deal! We really enjoyed this property. Everything said in the first post above is still true two years later -- we got upgraded to a suite because we were Starwood members (not gold) after our first room had a curious vibration in the floor, seemingly located over heavy machinery in the restaurant's kitchen. This hotel provided an excellent 3-star value. The towels are thick and soft and the shampoo/conditioner left my hair nicer than any I've used at hotels. The bed was very comfy and even though we were located facing the pool, we were not disturbed by noise. That might have had something to do with the white noise generated by the air conditioning system, which was fairly loud. My daughter loved the pool and the staff was very, very nice -- above and beyond. One small complaint about the shuttle from Disney: the ride back to the hotel was standing room only. After 10 hours at the park, it was not a welcome surprise. But once back at the hotel, we headed for the pool and all was forgiven. My husband picked up a takeout dinner on his way back from the board meeting and we used our kitchen set-up to avoid any more crowds for our evening meal. It was such a relief to have a dining area and kitchen facilities. I was chewing my nails after reading the TA reviews, and called before we checked in to beg for a good quality room. The woman assured me I would be pleased if I gave them a chance to show that those posted reviews were exceptions to the rule and undeserved. Thank goodness it was true. Another great Priceline experience.
  19. Thanks for the link! And happy earth day to you and yours.
  20. This is a very cool tip. I rebid many times after having to close the browser and it can be pretty tedious on the 6th or 7th time! Thanks so much!
  21. Hmmm . . . if your pina colada is talking to you, ease up a bit! :)
  22. Long bidding process for 3* WDW starting at $35 and rebidding all permutations adding $1 each bid. Suddenly realized I should check for rewards under my Priceline profile and found I had $5 per night bonus for a two night stay. At $45 I got a Priceline message "bid an additional $13 per night and you can bid again right away," so I knew I was close. My winning bid was $47 but the bonus bumped it up to $52 per night from the hotel's point of view. Used the support link to bid. Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: $5.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $47.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: $52.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $47.00 Subtotal: $94.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.80 Total Charges*: $115.80 I hope I can get them to give me a rennovated room, as others have found the older rooms pretty gross. Cheapest internet price was $119 nightly.
  23. whoawhoawhoa: Could you please describe your bidding process? What star category did you attempt for this win? Did you receive an upgraded hotel win? Thanks!
