  1. Used the PRICELINE link and started my 3.5* Jacksonville/Jacksonville Beach bid at $55. Priceline Rejected with a counter offer for $78. Added Jacksonville East zone and raised to $66. Rejected. Closed browser, reopened using the link and chose 3.5* Jacksonville/Jacksonville Beach with Jacksonville/Baymeadows as a second zone, bidding $70. Paydirt! 2. Since Grandma decided to join us in Orlando, I booked a 3 bedroom/2 bath condo at Vista Cay by Millenium for $139 a night. It works out to roughly what it costs to book two hotel rooms through Hotwire, and we would have had to pay parking for two vehicles. This property is very close to the convention center, but it definitely isn't the short walk we'd have had from the Rosen, sigh. Thanks for your help, BetterBidding!
  3. Is this property the Rosen Centre Hotel? Recommended:In 80% of Hotwire customer reviews. Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Spa Services Searched for two adults. Thanks!
  4. Delighted to receive this hotel through Hotwire. Booked using BB HOTWIRE link after receiving notice that my watched trip price had dropped. Once I saw the amenities, I knew I was buying! Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Rate per night: $59.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $12.52 Trip total: $71.52 Stayed here last year on a win off Priceline. Didn't want to risk getting another hotel, so I am glad to pay an extra $6 or so using Hotwire. Thanks so much, Better Bidding!
  5. This post mistakenly shows on my Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins search results of DC for April 27, 2011.

  7. Just noticed the wrong date in the topic title: check out is after three nights on 9/26/2011.
  8. Bid using a one night promotion for Bonus Cash of $5 per night on 3* or better, so bid equaled $53 each night ($48+$5). Offer Price: $48.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $144.00 Taxes & Fees: $25.92 Total Charges: $169.92 Used the board PRICELINE link.
  9. Searched using 2 adults, 1 child amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) High-Speed Internet Access Don't see any match on the Hotwire list.... Thanks!
  10. This post appears every day in Oct. 2010 under Priceline Virginia in the Calendar of Wins.
  11. Great hotel in the heart of downtown Staunton; $4 nightly parking fee in adjoining city garage. I was a bit concerned I might receive only one bed since the historic wing of this renovated property has rooms outfitted with one queen. I called the morning before I arrived and requested two beds, and when I checked in there was no problem at all accommodating my request. The Blackfriars Shakespeare Theatre is next door to The Stonewall Jackson Hotel and the company puts on an amazing performance. If you come to town, don't miss it!
  12. Using your link I bid 2.5* for $47 and received a counter offer to raise to $60 immediately. I waited 24 hours and bid 2.5 for $52 and received an upgrade to the 3* Stonewall Jackson Hotel And Conference Center. 24 South Market Street Staunton, Virginia 24401 Check-In Date: Sun, Jul 10, 2011 Check-Out Date: Tue, Jul 12, 2011 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $52.00 Subtotal: $104.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.90 Total Charges*: $122.90 Nightly price on their website was $118 per night.
  13. Used the PRICELINE link, bid $63 for 2.5* and was accepted. Courtyard By Marriott Charlottesville University Medical Center 1201 West Main Street Charlottesville, Virginia 22903 Check-In Date: Sat, Jul 9, 2011 Check-Out Date: Sun, Jul 10, 2011 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $63.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.74 Total Charges*: $77.74 Hotel website charges $229 :)
  14. Just finished another round of bidding in the Virginia Beach area without success. Decided to investigate rates at the hotels I was hoping to win, and was astounded to find zero availability for 6/25/11 at any of the board reported hotels three star and above in zones of interest. Don't know what's happening that night, but something sure is! Anyway, since my travel plans are extremely flexible, I'm abandoning this destination. Thanks for your assistance and suggestions.
  15. Most of my travel is for leisure. I like all the stuff mentioned above, plus here's what I like in a hotel room: 1. a view that isn't parking or rooftop 2. a balcony on which to enjoy a cocktail and the view 3. a mini refrigerator 4. fitted bottom sheets instead of that bizarre practice of tucking all the flat covers at once (when I untuck the foot, I have to remake the bed!) 5. real half-n-half for the in-room coffee One other thing that I find infrequently, but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE: A ceiling fan to stir the air and eliminate A/C hot and cold zones
  16. Definitely used your link (over and over :) ). I'm just passing through VA Beach so probably won't arrive until dinner time, and leave before 10 the next morning. I don't know enough about locations to care what area I score there. My GPS routes me around the south on I-64 before taking the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, but on maps, the other bidding zones don't look too far from major access with I-264 running right through things. Didn't really want to spend more than $70 including the fees and my plans are flexible enough to bid other cities if VA Beach lets me down!
  17. Received a one day offer by email to use $5 in bonus bucks expiring 5/20. Bid multiple permutations (about 25 attempts) in several areas of Virginia Beach for 3* and above, up to $63 for Saturday night 6/25/11. Zones tried: both Chesapeakes, ORF, Downtown Norfolk, Pembroke, and Area. Did not try Downtown Portsmouth because some hotels reported to the board had BIG parking charges -- upwards of $20 a night. I don't know anything about Virginia Beach, I'm just heading through for the one night and want to stay someplace comfortable. I guess I'll wait until closer to the trip date and try again. Any suggestions?
  18. First bid 2.5* at $40 for two nights in South Tallahassee. Immediately accepted with upgrade to 3* Doubletree Hotel Tallahassee 101 South Adams Street Check-In Date: Sun, May 1, 2011 Check-Out Date: Tue, May 3, 2011 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $40.00 Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.26 Total Charges*: $98.26 Great cookies! These rooms are part of (and views of) the parking garage, but are clean and comfortable with good toiletries. The hotel location is walking distance to the capital, museums, restaurants, IMAX theater and more. Very nice front desk staff, but the "free" WiFi in the lobby never worked during our stay, and the in-room internet was only good on whatever device you paid the $9.95 per 24-hour fee, not others in the same room. Free nightly garage parking.
  19. Used PRICELINE link and nearly wore out the rebid box at the top right of the BB homepage due to closing the browser for rebids :) Wanted to stay in Celebration at a 4* and avoid the resorts, so I started at $60 and got the "increase your bid by $15" screen. Added Winter Park zone and bid $62. Got the "increase your bid by $15" screen. Added West Disney zone and bid $64. No joy. Tried again with $65 adding MCO zone and got the "increase your bid by $15" screen. Started thinking if I bid more money I was in danger of getting upgraded to a resort in the Celebration zone, so I switched to Convention Center and bid $61 hoping for Shingle Creek. Got the "increase your bid by $15" screen. Added Celebration and bid $64 and got the Hilton Orlando. We've never stayed there and can't wait to check it out. Lowest available rates on Hilton website is $172 per night with their Fall/Winter Sale. Check-In Date: Thursday, November 11, 2010 Check-Out Date: Saturday, November 13, 2010 Hotel Name: Hilton Orlando 6001 Destination Parkway Orlando, Florida 32819 Your Offer Price: $64.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $128.00 Taxes and Fees: $25.44 Total Charges*: $153.44
  20. Thanks to everyone with the parking advice! This hotel said to keep my garage ticket and pay $8 overnight to the garage management itself, but that only works if you do not go in and out (and I had to insist the attendant honor the rate). Worked for me, though! There were also open surface lots nearby that posted cheaper prices, but weren't as convenient. The post about possible $50-a-day for parking in Chicago really upset me. Don't most travelers arrive at a hotel with a car? Talk about an additional expense!
  21. Self parking costs $14 daily. Does anyone know of good options to save money on this, or is it unavoidable for a hotel in the Cincinnati area? No matter what, it's a deal!
  22. Lowest price on Embassy Suites website was $159! Thank you, BB! Couldn't do it without you. :)
  23. First bid of $50 accepted. Used PRICELINE link. Hotel Name: Embassy Suites Hotel Cincinnati-Rivercenter/Covington, KY 10 E Rivercenter Blvd Covington, Kentucky 41011 Your Offer Price: $50.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes and Fees: $15.01 Total Charges*: $65.01
  24. Bid 2.5* all 3 areas of Lansing at $40 with no success. Dropped down to 2* for East Lansing, bid $38 and won this: Gatehouse Suites East Lansing 1600 East Grand River Avenue East Lansing, Michigan 48823 Check-In Date: Fri, Jul 23, 2010 Check-Out Date: Sat, Jul 24, 2010 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.33 Total Charges*: $50.33 Used BB PRICELINE link. Best hotel website price: $89.00. Never stayed at this brand before - hope I like it!
  25. Thanks again for the 100% ID match, and please remember to update the amenities on the Hotwire hotel list for this hotel.
