  1. Hi, Maybe I am missing something....but, I cannot find the hotel list for the,Halifax Airport hotels. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, M.A.
  2. This was originally a bid for a 2.5 star in the downtown area, which unfortunately did not hit. I ended up switching my dates around a bit, and started at $55 but had no luck till I reached $70 (in $5 increases). PRICELINE automatically bumped me up to a 3* and I ended up with the downtown Executive Hilton. Was hoping for the Residence Inn Downtown River Place but I am okay with this hotel, too. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this awesome board, especially, thereuare! :)
  3. Started at $50 and was accepted immediatley for each bid. Two separate nights...7/17 and 7/20. Marriott website shows rate of $199 for each of these dates. Real plus is that Tripadvisor rates this the #1 hotel in Toronto. Thanks for such a great resource.... which accounts for any success I may have when placing a bid! :)
  4. Hi, Did you see this residence inn on the hotel list for downtown toronto? I can't seem to locate where this hotel is on any of the lists...unless I am looking in the wrong place????
  5. My parents stayed at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and this is what they had to say about their stay: From July of 2007... They said that the rooms were updated and of good size and that the resort was very nice, although going through some renovations at the moment. The front port a cache is blocked off so now a doorman meets you to the side, where you must climb stairs (no handicap ramp) to get up to the lobbby. Also, no covering in case of rain. Very inconvenient if dealing with strollers, wheelchairs or bad weather! Other areas in the hotel that were undergoing renovations were restrooms, restaurants and later this week.. the main pool. Also, they were surprised to receive a bill for $32 in "resort fees" added on to their credit card at the end of their stay. No mention of it at all at check in, just a receipt under the door on the day of checkout. I am sure this will not go over very well with patrons checking in this week,... just finding out that the pool is closed, yet they are paying a $16 resort fee per day Hopefully, PGA National will waive this fee until renovations are finished. Although they refused to do so for my parents. Overall, they enjoyed the resort and would come back again.
  6. Reporting this win for my parents who just recently stayed here on July 7-9, 2007. Started bidding at $50 and increased by $5 incriments until bid was accepted at $70 for PGA National Resort and Spa. They said that the rooms were updated and of good size and that the resort was very nice, although going through some renovations at the moment. 7. Just stayed at this resort for the 2nd time a couple of weeks ago. It has a great location, right on the beach in Fort Lauderdale and is a walkable distance to restaurants, marinas and shops. There is also a trolley that runs up and down the beach (and also to the Las Olas area ) that you can catch. Sorry, but I do not know what the fare is for the trolley. The hotel is undergoing renovations from June till Oct. 2007, but we found that they were mostly re-decorating rooms/suites and experienced no noise/inconvenience issues whatsoever. Our room was on the 8th floor and had a partial intracoastal view which was very nice. The room itself was on the small side, but it was appointed very nicely. Flat panel t.v., pillowtop bed and luxurious linens, granite and marble in the bath, etc. We found it to be very quiet and comfortable. The lobby and amenities of this hotel were outstanding. Very large lobby with bar/ restaurant open to the entire area. In the evening there was live jazz music at the lounge area which again was part of the large, open lobby. My toddler loved dancing to the music while the adults were able to sit in comfortable leather chairs and enjoy a cocktail. The pool and beach area were beautiful, tropical and featured private cabanas and a bar along with a separate outside pool restaurant. Many people ate at the tables overlooking the pool or sat in lounge chairs while the wait staff brought drinks/food to them. The beach was not crowded and was just gorgeous. Perfect to take a dip in the ocean and then finish off with a swim in the pool. The parking was expensive and thats the bottom line. If you drive, you are going to pay a minimum of $22 a night to self park in the lower level garage. Valet was $25 per day plus tips. Ouch! We ate at a local restaurant called Bahia Cabana which was just across A1A from the hotel. It is an old motel that has awesome food on their back patio ( which also happens to be right on the intracoastal. ) Great views and wonderful fish sandwiches! Did not eat in the hotel at all, except for the pool grill, which was very good. This is a fabulous resort and if you can get it for a good price (we paid $130 via priceline) it is wonderful thing! :)
  8. Hi, Yes it was for June 15 through the 17th, just the two nights. I only bid 2 days in advance and I started at $100. It took several free re-bids but finally hit at $130. I beleive the lowest available rate on Marriotts own website was $189 at that time. Many of the priceline hotels will hit at about half of the lowest going rate. However, this particular hotel always seems to be higher. I think if you are happy with getting a discount of about 30% off of the lowest rate, you will have a decent chance of getting the Marriott( if they have availability.) Good Luck on your August vacation!
  9. Hi, Yes, sorry I meant to post the date as June and not July.
  10. Wanted to report this win for my brother who just needed one night in the orlando/disney area as he was traveling through to south florida. Started bidding at $80 for a resort level hotel in disney area and increased bids in $5 incriments till we hit on the Omni at $95. Lowest price on Omni website was $189 for this night. He was given a partial golf course view on the 12th floor which he was very pleased with. No mention of priceline and very accomodating and friendly staff (as usual at this property) during his brief stay. He would be thrilled to get this hotel again. :)
  11. Just wanted to report this win from a couple of weekends ago. Started bidding in this area at $100 and used free rebids in incriments of $5, till the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort hit at $130. Hotel was beautiful but pricey, with self parking $22 and valet $25 per day. Great location on the beach. We had a room facing the intracoastal which was on the small side, but very nicely appointed. Renovations are underway on remodeling many of the rooms, but we did not experience the slightest inconvenience or noise. Great hotel to win in the Fort Lauderdale Beach area! :)
  12. Started bidding for Ft. Lauderdale Beach area for a RESORT hotel. Was hoping to get Marriott Harbor Beach, but went up to $130 with no luck. Decided to go 4* instead and was able to get Hyatt Pier 66. Started bidding at $80 and used free re-bid zones in $5 increases, until I hit paydirt at $100. Hotel gave us a remodeled lanai room that normally goes for $249. :)
  13. Wanted to report a winning bid for the Orlando area, specifically, WDW area, on May 14-16th 2006. Started out with $75 bid for a resort in this area and continued on with free re-bid zones until I reached $115. This was done in $10 increments. Bid was accepted at $115 and we were happy to stay at the Omni Championsgate, just off of 1-4. Took about 10 minutes to drive to downtown Disney. :) Big convention in O town this week and availability limited at many of the big hotels and resorts.
  14. I am laughing hysterically reading all of these "banned' posts. I used to use TOBB all of the time and thought I was the only one who was feeling the "mean vibe" from silly Sheryl. :) I guess a lot of other people were getting it too! Such negativity must be exhausting! :) Anyway, it took a couple of years but yes, I too, have been BANNED! At first I thought there was somthing wrong with the site, then maybe with my computer and then finally I realized I was not alone! I still don't have a clue as to why. I actually did use the link they asked me to use. Whatever. I can still get into the site and get all the information I used to get prior to banishment. :) I just don't share my info with the board anymore, which is unfortunate for the nice people over there. Oh well, its just a matter of time before they are all BANNED too :o Anyway, I am so glad to be here and I hope to be able to provide some valuable information that others may actually appreciate :D Peace to All!
  15. Just wanted to report a winning bid for 4 ROOMS in the Orlando, WDW zone. Starting bidding at $70 and kept adding free re-bids until Gaylord Palms was accepted at $95. This was done in 5 dollar incriments. The dates are Fri-Sunday 5/12-14. Very happy with the result. Thanks for providing a great board for travel info.
