  1. is this a 4*? don't see the star level on the priceline hotel list page but it is listed as the first hotel. thanks!!!
  2. thanks theruare. like your idea. willing to stay in: theater, mtw, central, mte. what the best way to approach?
  3. just want the best buy possible. want at least a 4*. gotta have a room, so i'm prepared to pay whatever the price is... how low should i begin? what's the likely win for these dates?
  4. Getting ready to bid. Thoughts? Didn't see any wins on the board for these dates. How low should I begin? What's the most likely zone for a good buy?
  5. Thanks Thereuare for the help. I actually took your advice and booked the Palazzo directly. The price actually went down a bit in the past couple of days to $193 per night + the $100 voucher. FYI, the Veneitian is even a bit cheaper by $50. Would have bid, but too scared to wind up w/ Trump. Hope the place is nice...
  6. Began bidding for Theater district at $135, added free re-bid zones and went up to $160, but rejected. Closed browser, re-opened bidding in MTW at $135 and was accepted immediately for Sheraton. Therefore, likely you can get this hotel cheaper if you begin bidding lower.
  7. ok. thanks for your thoughts... question... since the rack rate at trump is less than palazzo and venetian for my dates, and keeping in mind that trump does participate in priceline in the same zone as palazzo and venetian, is it not true that more likely than not trump would be the priceline win. i know there are no guarantees, just looking for what you think is probable.
  8. yes, i'm familiar... after checking the hotwire site though, i see that trump is the only 5* that comes up and the price is $155 for my dates. my feeling therefore, is that i would likely wind up w/ trump if i bid north zone. do you agree?
  9. thanks for the reply... i understand fully that there is no guarantee that i won't get Trump. i'm an experienced betterbidding.com participant, just not in vegas ;-) the rack rate is $219 for a room at the palazzo, so my max would probably be $150. anything above that and i wouldn't want to risk not getting what i ideally want. what do you think my chances are? what would be the best strategy? thanks!
  10. Hello... Looking ideally for Palazzo (but understand the Venetian is possible too with North Strip bid) and like others hoping to avoid Trump. My dates appear to be more expensive than others who have recently posted, such as 11/24 - 11/29 @ $79 (Palazzo win) and the 12/11 - 12/14 Venetian win @ $139... Any thoughts, strategies you might share with me prior to my bidding would be appreciated. I've never bidded in Vegas, never BEEN to Vegas, so a bidding strategy would be great. Thanks!
  11. Not me. It's just an expensive few days. End of March has good rates, but entering April is the problem. I booked a cancellable reservation w/ The Westin in Times Square for $338 for 3 nights and used a coupon on Orbitz for $50 off (50afforb). You can also book the Sheraton Hotel & Towers for $295 and use the coupon. The W in Times Square is $326 and coupon would also apply. Other than that, Empire is at $295, but I think it's an inferior hotel. FYI, I bid up to $270 and didn't get a win, so I prefered spending a bit more and choosing the hotel than what I feared was ultimately a win at The Empire at $280+.
  12. I'm running into the same problem. My dates are 3/30 - 4/2. Also looking for a 4* and have had no luck bidding to $265. Keep me and the board posted if you have success/failures. I'll do the same. Good luck!

  14. Not crazy about Eastgate. Would prefer to pay a bit more and stay at a good 4*. Tried this morning to $250 and still nothing. Pretty surprising since Hotwire is at approximately $280 in the various areas. Will wait and try again, but if I can't secure for $250 I'll either go for a hotwire or try for a priceline win for the first 2 nights at $200 or less and pay the lowest available published rate I can find for the last night for whichever hotel I win. If anyone has a thought, please share. Would also appreciate help IDing the Hotwire 4*. I checked them against the hotel list here, but didn't find a match.
  15. Can't split. Travelling w/ my mom, who is a bit older and that would be uncomfortable for her. Also, for same reason, small room is not what we'd ideally like since we will be sharing. By the way, tried again today and increased to $200, but got nowhere. That last night appears to be a problem.
  16. Regarding budget, Hotwire has the 4* hotels at or around $280 in the various zones. I was hoping for a win in the $120, $130 range after noting the wins on this board for mid-late March, but perhaps my dates at the end of March/early April are a differnt ballgame. I'll pay what I need to pay, I suppose trying to save off the hotwire price as much as possible. Not sure if prices will adjust or if it is just this much more costly for my dates. Thanks for your thoughtful opinions.
  17. March 30 - April 2 So sorry. Completely forgot to include dates.
  18. Started at $100 and went up $5 at a time until final push when I went up $15 at a time. Not sure if there is something happening in the city during these days - any thoughts? I see that there are wins in late February at substantially less. I'll keep at it and keep the board posted. If anyone has some insight, please share. Thanks!
  19. Thought I'd post this for those struggling to find a good hotel in Paris at a good price. I have found it tough to bid through Priceline for a quality/luxury hotel since the elimination of the 4*+ category in Paris. With so many not-so-hot 4* hotels, it makes bidding risky. Hotel rates through conventional means are extremely high during March, but I found this deal: Hotel Francois 1er & Keppler, both owned or managed by the same company are offereing "free night" when you purchase 2. You cannot get the deal through the hotel website, but you can get it on Otel.com, GTA Hotels.com & Skoosh.com. FYI, GTA Hotels.com offers the deal for their Executive Rooms too, which are a bit larger. 3 nights will average for a standard room $190 or for executive $214 (with tax, my executive came to $252.00 per night and includes breakfast). Both hotels are reviewed extremely well on TripAdvisor.com. Hope this helps someone!
  20. Thanks WillTravel. It's a tough one. Not sure what I should do. In case anyone else is looking for the same dates, the best I've found so far is: Warwick Champs $279 (TravelRes.com) Marignan Champs ($292 GTA Hotels.com) Eduard Vii ( $271 GTA Hotels.com) and Elysees Regencia ($297 TravelRes.com). The Elysees Regencia is highly rated on TripAdvisor. I think it's the #5 choice. I'm not familiar with any of these hotels though, so any thoughts from those in the know will be appreciated.
  21. One more thing... If it is in fact the Hilton Arc, I'll point out that the Hilton.com web site has a published rate of $334 for this stay, making the HOTWIRE price higher.
  22. For those interested, I had the need to book a second room for these same dates. I did so yesterday and again won the Metropole for $120. This time around, I was bidding to get the Metropole so my stragegy was simplified and I bid only on Regents Park at $110, received offer to increase bid by $22. Closed browser and re-opened, bid Regents Park and Mayfair at $120, won Metropole again.
