  1. Hello, I need a double room for two nights in Copenhagen for my wife and myself - checking in June 3 and checking out June 5. Apparently there is some kind of major convention in town through Friday, June 3. So while I can find decent rates for Saturday, June 4 alone, I cannot find similar rates for both nights. I bid on $108 for a 4* hotel on Priceline late last night, 5/17, and was rejected. [by the way, the Copenhagen airport field was disabled/greyed out, so I couldn't add it. Any idea why?] I checked but Hotwire has no offerings for these two nights. I have booked a last ditch fall back h
  2. You are correct, a 4* is the goal. I tried bidding all the way to the end per your provided strategy and got rejected every time. Does this mean that $200 a night is simply not going to work or should I keep trying over the next few weeks to see if the stars will align? I am concerned that prices will only go higher the closer April gets. Is this a legitimate concern?
  3. I checked out the Eastgate and it doesn't fit the bill. I need a 4* with a $200 per night maximum (though I would obviously like to pay less if I can). Midtown East is where my business will take place so that would be ideal for the hotel location but the other zones should also work with a cab ride. A solid 4* at $200 or less is the priority.
  4. Hello, I need to stay 2 nights (3/31&4/1) and leave on April 2. Has to be a 4*. Midtown East is ideal but I could also do Upper Midtown, Times Square and Midtown West. I believe my rebids are Upper East and West sides, correct? My maximum per night is $200 but I would much rather have it closer to $150. I appreciate your help.
  5. Hi, Don't know if you will have to move this post to Hotwire but here goes. I am in the 72 hour zone on Priceline and early this morning decided to check Hotwire. Got a 4* downtown listing for $58 - checked here and figured out it was the Hyatt. I know that Priceline considers it more of a 3* but this price for a de facto 3.5* was right on so I bought it. Hyatt Regency - fitness, business center, dining Totally forgot about the new customer code - I assume it is too late to have that applied? Also, what is the deal with GST refunds with Hotwire? Thanks for all your help. ,
  6. Thanks for the info. For the pattern you suggest, do I close the browser between each bid?
  7. Will do. Just a couple more questions: Does my bidding for 9 nights (as opposed to 1 or 2) help or hurt my chances when bidding low? How many rebids (per 72 hour period) are possible for 4* downtown Montreal? I have just been consecutively adding a 3* zone until they are all gone but I have seen other posts with elaborate A, then A+B, then A+C, close browser, then A+B+C, etc. Is this something I should be trying? Thanks again.
  8. Greetings, I am looking for a 4* in downtown Montreal for 12/22 to 12/31. I know I have a considerable amount of time left so I have tried some real low ball bids so far: last night; US$65, 67, 69, 71, and 75 -- all refused. I would really like to keep the price (before taxes) to as close to $80 per night as possible. I have no hotel preference, just looking for a 4* in the downtown zone. Also, am I maxing out the possible free rebids or am I missing some? By comparison, Hotwire lists a 4* for $100 per night (before taxes) for my dates. Here are the amenities for that listing: Restaurant(s)
  9. Sorry for the late posting. Bid date 10/18. Success on first bid. 10. :) Success! I inched up my bids somewhat and it payed off.... Again, gunning for a 4*, I started at US$65 rejected, $67 rejected, $72 rejected and finally scored with $76 at the OMNI. As I had posted previously I really wanted to keep to $70 or less for a 4* but $6 a night more is fine, especially since the Omni is just 3 blocks from the conference hotel (Le Centre Sheraton). I can hoof it or if I am especially lazy I can take a cheap cab ride. Many, many thanks for the website and sage advice; I am sure I would have ended up paying much more without your help. I estimate that I saved abo
  11. I was in Montreal last Christmas (2002); they have got a great subway line; it goes all over the place and cabs are an easy option. Still, I'd rather just walk a block if that was possible. Hotwire right now has one 3.5* for downtown Montreal; it goes for $62. Judging from your list of hotels and the amenities posted it looks like it is the Delta. The Delta is about 4 miles from the conference hotel. I checked TripAdvisor and the reviews of the Delta were pretty evenly divided; either it was Nirvana or a visit to the local garbage dump (makes you wonder if they could all be talking about t
  12. too low, huh? hmm. My concern is that if I go too much higher I price myself into a situation where I might be better off sticking with the conference hotel and not worrying about commuting back and forth (assuming the PL choice is somewhat distant from the conference hotel, which with my luck it will certainly be). Just out of curiosity, what would your recommended bidding strategy be for 3*s in downtown Montreal? thanks.
  13. Greetings, thanks for the site by the way. just finding out about the "rebid" options is worth the price of admission (so to speak). Okay, I am attending a conference in downtown Montreal from 3/17 to 3/21. I have already booked a refundable room at the conference hotel (Le Centre Sheraton, a 4* I think, according to PL) for the conference rate of 150CAN/115US. After taxes this will cost me about $515US (the exchange rate is fluctuating all over the place recently) for the four nights. I would like to get a 4* in downtown Montreal [zero flexibility on area given the location of the confer
