  1. Used HOTWIRE link from there and I have gotten the same hotel as a P/L Express Deal and had no problems with this property and is 5 min from the first bowling alley I will have to be at Sat morn (nephew in college tourney). I got two queen beds guaranteed (brother is staying with me). Amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access Total with tax: 135.16
  2. Opted not to bid (no guarantee of getting a 'rated' hotel). Used the P/L link from here to get my PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal. Saved 36%. $70.97 with taxes and the hotel is near both my friends' apt and a car museum. Hotel Amenities Free Internet Free Parking Free Breakfast Non Smoking Pets Allowed Rated 7/10
  3. I took the Express Deal because it was a 54% saving per P/L and it was an 8+ ratings. I got the hotel I expected to get which is a plus (normally I get the Holiday Inn or Accent Inn). With taxes, it was $59.97. Of course, I used the PRICELINE link from here. Amenities: Free Internet Free Breakfast Airport Shuttle Business Center Fitness Center Non Smoking Hotel rate was $103.72 (non refundable but that's is the government refundable rate that I would qualify for).
  4. Just an update. Nice property but the front desk clerk could not find the reservation and charged my credit card for two nights. I call priceline immediately from the room and they cleared it up and the pending charge was gone the next morning. But, get this, they charge me $82 per night.
  5. I figure I would get the BWP Black Rock Inn and happy I got it. The main reason for my happiness: It's a 5 minute walk to the train to NYC. Use the P/L link from here. 26% savings. Total with taxes was $216.98. And this was a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal (I thought it would appear in the context). Amenities: Free Internet Free Parking Free Breakfast Business Center Fitness Center Non Smoking Pets Allowed Rating 7+
  6. At a whopping 52% savings and only like 20 min from Hartford's airport, I took the Express Deal (even though it in Mass vs CT). With taxes, $90.97. Marriott's rates vary between $151 (nonrefundable) and $169 (refundable). Also, I had put BDL (Bradley Int'l Airport) for the search and this area (West Springfield, MA) came up in the search. Amenities as follows: Free Breakfast Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Non-Smoking Gym Handicap Accessible Business Center and it had an 8+ rating and I did get to the PRICELINE website from the Quick Quote box in the upper right hand corner.
  7. The only other hotel it might be is the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour (but it doesn't have a self service laundry). The hotwire 'regular' price of $174 matches. Good luck on hotwire (or priceline bidding). If you get hard up for American food, the last I remember, there is a Wendy's on Queen (but the Burger Kings down there are horrid!).
  8. It might be the Crowne Plaza Auckland. That property does have a self service laundry and all the other amenities. There is a downtown gym with tennis courts off Queen on Wyndham (I believe). Good Luck. Auckland is a beautiful city. Take the ferry to Davenport if you want a great skyline of the city.
  9. Amentites: Suite Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette I did this for my cousin and did used the HOTWIRE link here. I did call the hotel as it's a hotel with smoking rooms. I did the reservation with 2 adults and 1 kid before she told me their older son was going but ALL rooms have a sofabed with either a king or 2 queen beds.
  10. I was at a friend's house and get needed a nice hotel at a nice price at Fisherman Wharf. So I hooked him up with hotwire and got this hotel. Amentities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access in the future, I will use the HOTWIRE link here (sadly, I put up betterbidding to figure out the hotel!)
  11. I got the Westin for $66 in Sept 2007 and other similiar bids were around $66 bucks. You may wish to bid $60 to see if you get a rebid offer (I bidded $60 initially and got a rebid offer of $77). Westin is nice (free shuttle to the Historic Properties/Waterfront area) but the Marriott is the better location (IMO).
  12. I started on Saturday bidding $45 (rejected but got a rebid offer of $58), added Algonquin @ $48 (rejected) and added Aurora @ $50 (rejected). Today, I stared at $51 and nailed it. The website shows $179 and that the building exterior is being repainted over the next six weeks. With free parking, I am more than willing to drive to a METRA station to get to downtown Chicago. Plus, free shuttle ride to the Oakbrook Mall.
  13. One bid at $38 and got it. I also got this for my cousin's hubby for work.
  14. I started bidding at $70 at JFK, increased bid to $75 and added Flushing, increased bid to $78 and Long Island City and got it. From what I am aware of, the "New" Doubletree is the old Radisson (which hasn't gotten great reviews lately at trip advisor). I got the room for my cousin & her hubby as they need to be close to St John's to help move their son into the dorms for his freshman year.
  15. I don't use Hotwire often (it's more like a guide to me for Priceline), however, I have a $50 credit I needed to use. Saturday night is graduation night for the University of Texas so rooms were at a premium. I called the hotel and they quoted me $139/nite. Orbitz had $129 and hilton.com said it was soldout. amentities: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, pool, fitness center, high speed internet and business center. also: parking is $8/nite and I did used the $50 credit so total bill was $64.42 with tax.
  16. hotwire sent me a $50 credit to my hotwire account for the downgraded to $50. High school graduation is next month and my aunt & uncle are looking for a cheap room in Austin (TX). I will keep y'all advised.
  17. I booked my cousin there last month and hotwire gave me a $50 credit to my account (original bid accepted was $82).
  18. I got this place on my first bid. With tax: $128.15. Website had a prepaid rate of $102 per nite, $120 per nite for a reservation you can cancelled. Parking is $13 CDN ($11.11 US).
  19. Here is my history of rejected bids before pay dirt: 3* airport @ $44, added downtown @ $45, added Amherst @ $45, added 2.5* @ $42 and, finally, added 2* @ $35 and got the Quality Inn (which is a hit and miss hotel review-wise). Total with tax: $46.89. I'm driving around Lake Ontario for a May vacation and I fly in/out of Buffalo so for one nite, I'm not too concerned with the hotel.
  20. My cousin is in NYC and they have to go to Boston tomorrow for the nite. The only hotel prices I checked was Courtyard ($109) and Hampton Inn (99) which are both 2.5 stars. I bidded $60 for a 4*, rejected, $55 for a 3*, rejected and $50 for the Courtyard (total with tax, $63.78) My only strategy was that one hotel chain would have a room they needed to sell just to get the room occupied. amenities: remote control TV with premium channels, telephone with voicemail, radio alarm clock, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, business front desk and 24 hour front desk
  21. Btw, it's called "Jamaica Club Hotel" but it is a Doubletree hotel. This Hotel features the following amenities: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center
  22. See my misadventures with priceline on that thread. I got the Doubletree at $82/nite on Hotwire. ALERT: New hotel to list! :)
  23. My cousin & his soon-to-be-enrolled-in St John's son are flying to visit the campus. Today was my third attempted. I only bidded the JFK area because they are flying Jet Blue into NYC. I started all bidding at $75/3* and was rejected and add 2.5* but at $60 and rejected. So, I opted for hotwire (see that post). first time I didn't get a hotel on priceline! :)
  24. New city alert! My second cousin is going to Victoria. I did Orbitz to see what was available (LaQuinta was $61 there and on laq.com;other hotels ranged from $60-$75 (like Holiday Inn, Hampton, Super 8 and a Quality Inn). Priceline listed 1* and 2* hotel catagories. Advised my second cousin to bid $35 and got it! $46.10 total with taxes.
