  1. I was expecting the Marriott Buttes - should have known that was too good of a deal - but got the Legacy Golf Resort, 6808 South 32nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85042, (602) 305-5500. Amenities: Resort, Fitness, Pool, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Children's Activity Program Hotel rate per night: $74.00 Nights:2 Rooms:1 Subtotal: $148.00 Tax recovery charges & fees: $21.99 Total price: $169.99 The rate at this hotel's website is $126.65 This is at the far, south-western part of the Tempe-ASU Area. I don't think people wanting to be close to ASU would want this property. As always, I used the BetterBidding HOTWIRE Link.
  2. Sorry, I made the Hilton Purchase through an employee family program. Once we leave the city all of our activity will be on the Island within a 10 mile radius of Kennedy. I always figure the value of my points (I have plenty) as 20,000=free coach ticket=$450, or .02125, very close to your 2 cents per point. A 3* hotel at Kennedy is $113/night (for 2 adults and 2 children) - and I have to assume it to be the Holiday Inn Express which I wouldn't call 3 stars.
  3. We're spending 3 nights in the city at the NY Hilton. We're doing family stuff on Thursday (Thanksgiving) - and actually JFK is the most convenient place for where they live. Then we have an early morning flight on Friday. I made a reservation at the Sheraton JFK. It's only 7,000 points per night, so I may stick with that. "The reason I think it could be the Days Inn is that the very latest review was a 5/5 which could have been enough to tip the rating up to 3.5 from 3 seeing as how there are a relatively few amount of reviews." Don't you think the TripAdvisor ratings would be linked from that website so any changes would be reflected in the HOTWIRE site?
  4. The Red Carpet Inn isn't within the JFK Zone, is it? It also doesn't say that it offers Shuttle service to the airport. My dates of stay are 11/26-11/28. And like I always do, I will use the HOTWIRE Link from the better bidding pages.
  5. Hotwire lists the amenities as Breakfast, Shuttle and Internet. When you click on continue it gives you the details and says it has a Tripadvisor rating of 3 of 5 with 60+ reviews, with the latest being October, 2008. The Comfort Inn, Jamaica has a 3 rating - but only 16 Reviews (and I wouldn't want to stay here). The Sheraton also has a 3 rating, but I'm sure this wouldn't be a 2* Hotwire Hotel and it also only has 12 reviews. Any other ideas? Could they round down 3.5 ratings? The 2 1/2* hotel (Which I assume to be the Ramada Plaza) has a 1.5 trip advisor rating. Any help would be appreciated. I need a room with 2 beds, otherwise I would give Priceline a try.
  6. I purchased this reservation only after consulting betterbidding.com - so I was pretty certain I would be getting the Mark Hopkins - and at that rate, I am thrilled. Thanks.
  7. I did get the Holiday Inn Express-JFK on Conduit Ave. The charge was $119 for the night plus $24.22 for fees and taxes for a total of $143.22 The listed amenities are: Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, High Speed Internet and laundry facilities.
  8. Hotel rate per night: $119.00 No Of Nights:1 Rooms: 1 Subtotal: SubTotal:$119.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: :$22.21 Total price: TotalPrice:$141.21 Mark Hopkins Intercontinental - Lowest rate on IC Website is $270 Hotel Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet As always, I used the betterbidding.com HOTWIRE link to make this booking.
  9. Thanks to another post, I used the same $47 bid and it was accepted on the first try for a 2.5* star hotel in the Seattle (Renton/Kent) Area for August 23-August 25. Courtyard By Marriott Seattle/Seatac 2
  10. Thanks - I didn't consider that one. I will probably pass.
  11. I did get the Holiday Inn Express - the rooms were TINY - but clean. Very strange hotel as you had to take one stairway down (or elevator down) and another elevator to your room.
  12. Any ideas which hotel this could be in Goleta? (July 21 - 1 nt) Amenities are Shuttle, Breakfast, Business Center, Fitness Center, Laundry and high speed internet. I'm concerned that it could be the Super 8. Thanks for your help - and I always use the betterbidding.com links to book my hotwire and priceline travel.
  13. Internet, Shuttle, Laundry, Fitness Center, RESTAURANT and NON-SMOKING. It also indicates: Travel information: 2.9 miles to New York John F Kennedy Intl. (JFK), 7.7 miles to La Guardia Airport (LGA) There is no trip advisor ranking. It's interesting, if you request a room for 4 occupants, the 3* hotel is $115 and does not have a restaurant or non-smoking indicated, but includes breakfast. It also indicates fitness center, laundry and shuttle. The travel information is identical as well as the retail price of $134.
  14. Hotwire is now showing a 3* hotel for $109 which has a restaurant and is non-smoking. The only hotel I can figure it would be is the Marriott Courtyard - but that seems too good of a deal. Am I missing something?
  15. I have had 3 bids rejected by priceline for a 3* JFK Hotel ($85,90,95) for May 4. Hotwire has a 3* Hotel for $115 - the amenities listed are breakfast, internet, shuttle, laundry and fitness center. Any ideas on which hotel this might be. I absolutely do not want the Ramada JFK Plaza. Thanks for your help.
  16. First bid of $45 accepted at Merced (CA) Courtyard by Marriott 2 1/2*. Standard rate of $119 on Marriott website.
  17. Used the Savings Barn link to win $41 on my first bid at the Four Points for 3/28 and 3/29. The 21 day advance purchase price on the Sheraton site is $85.
  18. I used the savings barn link for Priceline to bid $52 on a 3* hotel for 3/23 - 1 night at the Oakland Airport. This was rejected. I added Berkeley/Emeryville and 2 1/2* and won the Marriott Courtyard for $52. This was a great deal as the Marriott Web Site rate is $219. Bruce
  19. *** Star Hotel Garden City/Uniondale. $34. Amenities are Complimentary Breakfast, High Speed Internet Access and Business Center. La Quinta Inn and Suites - Garden City - Used Savings Barn link and got a $34 rate for 4/30/08 and 5/1/08. The rate on the La Quinta website is $199. I'm not certain a La Quinta should be *** but this is certainly a great savings.
  20. When I tried purchasing this "deal" it wouldn't let me. When I got to the final step it said it was no longer available (or a similar error message). This was for about 2 hours, and then this rate was gone.
