  1. If you have any room requests, ie King Bed, etc. make sure to call the hotel and ask them for it before you get there. I stayed at this hotel last week and when checking in they gave me the "you got the room on hotwire and this is all we have for you and the hotel is completely sold out" crap. The room they gave me, of course, was a double, when I asked for a king, and was as far away from the lobby and as close to the freeway as possible. Although if you're looking for peace and quiet it might be advisable to stay away from the lobby area as they have a sportsbar in the lobby that gets pretty loud on Thur-Sat nights.
  2. Started at $50 and bidded up in $5 increments to $70, then bid $72. Lots of free re-bid zones in the Oakland East Bay area.
  3. Looks like a great hotel and sure beats staying at where I used to stay in Walnut Creek before I discovered Priceline and BB, which was the Extended Stay who wanted $99 a night for this stay.
  4. Good deal as their website quotes $299 for their smallest rooms, although they charge an amazing $39 (!!!) a day for parking and it seems as though they give priceline customers the shaft with small rooms and double beds. We'll see how it goes in this "historic" hotel.
  5. Bid $60 for 4* and received a $97 counteroffer, which would have been at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek, tried a $80 4* bid but was rejected. Started over with 3* at $60 and got the Doubletree.
  6. Started at $50, which priceline said was not realistic, added 3 rebids at $55, $60 and $65. Started over with 4* at $70 and got this. Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.18 Total Charges: $166.18 Looks like a nice place. Used the SB link as usual.
  7. Just stayed there over the weekend, and it's a great hotel. Be sure to check out the views and get a drink at the awesome bar on the 40th floor.
  8. Bid $85 and got the $22 counteroffer, bid $90 rejected, bid $91 rejected, bid $95 accepted. :)
  9. Wow...worst...hotel...ever! Being a road-warrior business type traveller I have stayed at probably 500 different hotels in the past 5 years throughout the western US ranging from run-down roadside motels to the St. Regis, and the Econolodge Phoenix Airport wins the award for the worst hotel experience. I wasnt supposed to be staying at the econolodge, as I had reserved it for my dad who was catching an early morning flight from phoenix and he just needed a place to sleep that had a shuttle service to the airport. Plans change (as they always seem to do when I have a non-refundable reservation), and i needed to stay in Phoenix so we decided to make the best of it and check into the Econolodge and see if they could give us a double room or a roll-away. First thing we noticed as we drove towards the hotel was the seedy and run-down area it is located in, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but for anyone reading this review and plans on walking anywhere and is considering bidding 2* PHX airport, take that into consideration. When we got to the hotel we found that it was almost completely deserted. The hotel is a U shape with the parking lot in the middle and there were exactly two cars in the parking lot. Since this was the case, we figured it would be no problem for them to accomodate us in a double room. Wrong! First thing out of the desk clerk's mouth after giving our name to check-in was "Since you made this reservation with the internet, there will be NO room changes. The internet made your reservation for a smoking king room." We politely asked if he could accomodate us in a non-smoking room with two beds. "No." Okay, how about a non-smoking king room and a roll-away bed. "No, you get a smoking room and a roll-away bed will be $30 additional for the night." At this point things started to get a little more impolite, since we pointed out that he appeared to only have maybe three rooms filled for that night and he was being completely unaccomodating. "Since you made this reservation with one of those cheap internet sites I don't have to do anything for you since you have already paid and I don't care if you stay here or not." was the clerk's reply. Wow. We went to the room (supposedly renovated, but with 5 large burn holes in the carpet, a TV that didn't work and a decor from the 1970's) whipped out the laptop and made a reservation on Hotwire for two rooms at the 3* Radisson Phoenix Airport for that night for $73 a room and high tailed it out of there. I can somewhat understand the anti-hotwire and priceline attitude if you somehow got a room at a 5* or a resort for like $25 a night and they were full and had to put you in the presidential suite or something, but this was a run-down econolodge that was maybe 5% full. And we paid more through hotwire than we would of directly through the Econolodge website with a AAA discount. So be careful when buying 2* Phoenix Airport through Hotwire, you may get this place. Yuck.
  10. New Hotel for your Hotwire lists. Amenities are: Airport Shuttle <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Not a good deal considering the Econolodge direct rate for these dates were $62 with a AAA discount and $71 without. Oh well just a place to stay before a early flight.
  11. Got it on the first try and probably could have gotten it for less, but I've used priceline so much over the last few days that I wanted to bid high enough I didn't have to mess around with re-bidding and all that with this reservation. Marriott.com rate is $269, and i used savingsbarn.com Oh and I won't personally be staying there as the reservation was for clients of mine, so I won't have a review for you guys.
  12. OK got the Sheraton Crescent in Metrocenter for $90 a night. Its a 3*, and looks pretty nice. Thanks for the help.
  13. Yeah I already have a reservation at a decent hotel, so using priceline is more for just the sport of it to see if I can get something dirt-cheap, and to prove my dad wrong that priceline is useless. It doesnt really matter where we stay, but I'm kinda shooting for either of the Pointe resorts or The Buttes, which is why I have mainly bid in the Tempe and Phoenix North areas. I've bid so many times that priceline has locked me out, but how much would you think a 3* would go for? Oh and hotel direct rates for the resorts in Phoenix right now are anywhere from $250 to $700 a night! :)
  14. Hey Guys, great site you have here that I wish I would have found long ago. I'm not new to Priceline and have used it many times with some great deals, but I have been coming up short when trying to get a hotel for this trip. I'm trying to get two rooms and have mostly tried Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix North, the resorts and 4 star options usually bidding around $100 per room. I've even tried all areas and a $95 rate for 3* hotel and was denied. Anything higher than $100 on priceline for a 3* room just isnt worth it for me. Is this just the way it is in Phoenix this time of year? Any suggestions as to bids for good hotels in the area? Thanks
