  1. I got a car through PRICELINE last week for $159 including taxes for a week, compact car, Maui OGG. I bid $15 a day vs. the $27 - 30 per day everyone else was asking . This is for the first week in May, however.
  2. This is an awesome deal!! I wish I had waited awhile to bid. I got this place for April 30 - May 7 for $185. Even that is a great deal for this Hyatt, but $135 --- oh well, at least I get free airfare, but would have loved this sweet deal :)
  3. Tried bidding three days ago starting at $140, then going up to $150 using free rebids. Waited until two days ago and started bidding at $160, then $165. Got impatient and decided to bid $185 and got it. That's a better rate than we got for this same hotel almost three years ago. Back then we paid $205. All in all, this is a favorite hotel and resort of ours, and the currently lowest posted hotel rate is $370 at the Hyatt site, and $310 at several other travel sites.
  4. Actually, the OP got a pretty good deal for that time of the year. I just checked the Sheraton's site and the minimum accommodation is running $455 a night. Besides, it's the OP's honeymoon, so why not splurge a little :)
  5. Resort fees at the Hyatt Regency Maui are $15 per day and for the Westin, $20. Sheraton, I believe, is $20. Not sure what the Kaanapali Beach Hotel is charging these days. I think it's around $12 - 15 per day. Even with a $125 per night Westin rate, add on $20 and the room is STILL only $145. Getting a room in that part of Maui for under $150 is unheard of :)
  6. :) Glad to have gotten this property at this rate. We were at the Hyatt Regency Maui last month and had occasion to tour this property as well. The Westin is in a much more centralized location. Many thanks to those who posted their great rate of $125 a night. Because of this, we can now afford to go for a little longer than our usual 7-night vacation! (I accidentally put '09 as the date -- In fact, the stay is 9/20/08 to 9/29/08)
  7. Decided to bid on the Renaissance for 1 night, 4/3/08, before catching a cruise ship, and got it for $201 plus tax for a total of $234. Cheapest priced room on the site was $298 with the AAA card. It's spring break at that time, and I feel lucky to have gotten this hotel for that price. Currently, the Holiday Inn Express, which is very near this hotel, is listed at $208 plus tax. Embassy Suites, also in this region, is a steady $309 plus tax :)
  8. FYI: I got this property for $205 per night for 9/23 to 9/30 and couldn't be happier!!! I've stayed at the Hyatt Maui 3 times already and this is the cheapest price paid EVER. The rooms are exceptionally nice, with the best beds -- the property is beautiful and yes, the beach area is a mere tiny strip. However, it's a very short walk to a wider beach just one resort over. Also, I've stayed a the Sheraton and to me, there is no comparison to the Hyatt's wonderful property and amenities and we've never had a hard time parking there either. The Sheraton lacked customer service we thought. They are right by black rock. However, now that the cruise ships drop their cruise ship people off at black rock for snorkeling, it's not peaceful and serene as it once was, so now the beach in that area can get real crowded on cruise ship day [which is 6 days a week now] We purchased our Hotwire room on May 9 and just today, June 1, it's now $255 a night before tax on HW.
  9. In addition to the amenities I listed above, the following amenities are true as well: Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Children's Activity Program
  10. 4.5* _ Hyatt Regency Maui "Customer Favorite" Resort Beachfront Fitness Center Pools Restaurants Business Center Laundry Facilities Hi-speed internet access. There is also a 4* hotel with all the same amenities -- is that still the Sheraton??
  11. Update: Have stayed at this property 2 times now and the rooms are very, very nice, considering the price! Originally stayed in Feb. 2005 and again in March 2006 and thought everything was great.
  12. :) We were thrilled to score the Hyatt in Maui for only $205 a night!!! We've stayed there three other times, but never bid Hotwire for this particular hotel. Lowest published rate was $369 for a terrace-view room. Partial ocean-view rooms are listed at $500 to $525; Ocean-views at $600+ Even if we end up with a parking lot view, we don't mind, as there's a lot of foliage to camouflage the parking lot. 4.5 stars and listed as "Customer Favorite" Have been tracking prices for Hawaii in general for the last couple years and haven't found the prices to be very low, even on Hotwire, as they were around 3.5 years ago. Total price including taxes and fees for 7 nights --- $1,605. Full-size car on Hotwire's site ran $220 total, including fees/taxes. Got a better deal for the same car on PL, however [$191 at Hertz] Redeeming frequent flyer miles, so this is turning out to be a great deal for Maui!!!! :) Actually purchased the room on 5/9/07 -- rates fluctuated between $203 to $205 ...
  13. Hi, I'm updating you. I already posted a separate topic a couple days ago. I eventually got the Venetian for $118 a night, but this does include a Friday night stay. I figure that I'm paying roughtly $175 for the friday night and $99 for the preceding three nights .... It was a little trickier than I thought with that Friday night in there. I tried approx. 4 different times over a 12-day period to secure this. The counteroffer was always $130 but I thought I could do better. :) :) :) :o edit by thereuare: post merged into existing thread
  14. Aggggggh! Strike my above post, at least the part about the Hyatt. It seems that the Hyatt has been downgraded, (I believe) The Hyatt was FORMERLY a 5*, and it was indeed listed as a "customer favorite" Now, I definitely believe the 4.5 customer fave is the Hyatt and here's why..... If you click on the link above the words "customer Favorite" it says "read reviews" or soemthing of the sort... anyway, someone mentions something about this property being a 5-star propery, so therefore I think we have it....
  15. We were in Maui last year during the Canoe Festival. It's not that huge of a deal that it would impact the hotels that much, at least we didn't notice any large groups at the Hyatt. The Canoe festival was held under the Banyan Tree in Lahaina, but like I say, it didn't seem to be like, say, a Las Vegas type of convention packed to the gills with canoe festival people. I'm somewhat surprised the rates aren't a little lower. This is the low-priced season in Maui before the summer rush. Guess it must be all those people flocking to Hawaii instead of their European trips since the dollar isn't that strong against the euro.
  16. Yes, there is a $15 a day resort fee. Parking is convenient. However, they tend to run out of parking spaces sometimes on luau nights, but it's still not a big deal. It always works out. I've stayed at this property 3 times and love it. Wow, you scored a great rate!!!!!
  17. The Hyatt has been a 5*, not a 4.5. (Unless something has changed) The Westin has been a 4.5 and the Sheraton a 4* All three are very nice properties. I've stayed at Hyatt 3 times and Sheraton once. Sheraton has a way better beach than the Hyatt, but the Hyatt is a little more elegant. The Westin is located in the very middle of these other two properties on a beautiful beach and with a beautiful pool, but the rooms are much tinier. However, they do have Heavenly Bed there. I've seen the Hyatt for as low as $180 on Hotwire for Aug 21-28 '04 (meaning that you had to bid it at that amount in Feb 04) and it was running at about $222 last year around this time for a visit in May (which by the way was the same rate I got by booking Hyatt.com internet rates too) The Sheraton I've seen for as low as $154 a night on Hotwire in '04, but now maybe it's $170 on up, and the Westin I've seen run anywhere between $185 to $220 or so ... all of these prices have been Hotwire, not PL.
  18. :) Have been trying for this place for about a week and a half. Started bidding at $99 then increased to $105, $110, $115, $117, and the finally $118. The max I had bid on this before was $115. Hotel's own site is showing $169 minimum at that time. I feel very pleased with this amount and will now cancel my reservation at Wynn which was $199 for the first 3 nights and $279 for the fourth night. OUCH. :)
  19. Have been trying for the Venetian now for approx. a week. We already have reservations at the new Wynn Resort. However, we think it would be grand to have our bid of $99 accepted for these four nights. Rates are running $169 per night for each night, including Fri. Perhaps we're running into more trouble because there is a Friday night involved. Bid up to $115. After the first $99 bid they countered with $130. Well, Hotwire has Venetian right now for $138 and the other day it was $135. Therefore, I feel there is plenty of availability. Will keep trying every 72 hours.
  20. Yes, This hotel is a "newly" rated *4. It definitely was a 3 just a short time ago. I got that info from another board in which a poster was very unhappy that the Hyatt was now a *4 as he had bid $85 a night for a *4 Priceline and expected the Westin or Renaissance or Hilton, and was surprised that the Hyatt was now in the mix. All the reviews I've read about the Hyatt LB have been very positive. They completed a renovation of the hotel in 2003. The rooms are somewhat small. However, they look very nice from what I can tell. I will definitely report back after I stay there in February!
  21. :) Bid $50, rejected. Added San Pedro 3* zone and offer was accepted!! Total including fees and taxes $74.00 Hotel was recently refurbished. Priced at $235 on Hyatt web site, $190 on Expedia and others. Parking is $12, however.
  22. To my amazement, the price dropped today from $199 (5 hrs. ago) to $64, so I purchased the room! I'm so happy that I found this board. Oh, FYI, I tried to bid 2 nights ago on Priceline, for this same hotel and area. Started with $58, rejected, increased zones, increased bid to $61 and rejected again! Anyway, included taxes and fee, my total purchase for Embassy Suites came to $78.00 Still showing at $199 and $189 on all the other web-sites. All I can say is wow, what a savings, and THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.
