  1. I first bid $200 for 4.5* hotel in Aspen, than $250 for Aspen and Snowmass for my trip dates of March 12-15th. When both offers got declined, I've added 4* option and lowered price to $220 for the total of $831 with taxes and fees, since I knew that I could get Westin in Snowmass for $885 (would have had to switch rooms, but worth saving $200 vs not). I got The Aspen Meadows, which has not been previously reported. I am not happy, wish I just booked Westin, since based on reviews and photos The Aspen Meadows does not look nearly as nice and is a shuttle drive away from downtown Aspen and mountains. Staff / service are supposed to be exceptional, but that's not why I am going to Aspen. I was hoping to be either downtown or by the mountain. Buyer beware.
  2. Thank you for the suggestion. I most definitely will ask for a higher floor. Would you happen to know how much the lake view upgrade is? I used to live on LSD and really miss waking up to the breeze from lake Michigan. Also, what blues club would you recommend - Buddy Guy's Legend, Blue Chicago or House of Blues? I've been to all three, but it's been a while. I did use HOTWIRE links from this site both for the search and to book this room as a way to thank you guys for maintaining it and allowing us to enjoy the good deals with no fear.
  3. You were right on both counts - the other two hotels disappeared while I waited for help IDing them, so I decided to go ahead and grab the remaining 4* hotel, which as you correctly predicted turned out to be W Chicago Lakeshore. Not my top pick, but given the availability and prices because of the convention and what not, I am satisfied. Once again facilities listed for it were as following: Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services
  4. I am trying to book a nice hotel room for 2 people in downtown Chicago for May 16-19, 2013. My Hotwire search came up with the following 3 acceptable options. Can you please help me ID them? Thanks! 1) Magnificent Mile Area - River North for $248 per night $357 at other sites Recommended in 90% of Hotwire customer reviews 0.6-2.0 miles from City Center Pet Friendly Indoor Pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Business Center Spa Services 2) Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower for $242 Super Savings Recommended in 95% of Hotwire customer reviews 1.0-1.7 miles from City Center Pet Friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower 3) Downtown Chicago - Millenium Park - Grant Park Area for $268 Recommended in 85% of Hotwire customer reviews 1.5-2.5 miles from City Center Pet Friendly Boutique Hotel Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Accessible Bathroom Roll-in shower
  5. I have previously bid several times for Fisherman's Wharf, Financial District and both Union Square areas, going all the way up to $105 and failed to get a room. Of course, I've used HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links on the betterbidding.com site. Tonight, I first checked Hotwire and there was a 4* hotel in Fisherman's Wharf (my top area) that sounded like Sheraton available for $110-$115 per night plus taxes, so I decided to bid lower on Priceline. Started at $90 and landed Hyatt At Fishermans Wharf, which is listed at 3.5* hotel on Priceline. Wish I bid less, but am still happy with the outcome. Hope this helps someone!
  6. After trying for over a week to book a 3* or higher hotel in Del Mar through Priceline and re-bidding in $5 increments from $60 to $120 and being rejected, I decided to give Hotwire a try. I knew that if I were to use non-opaque travel channels that I would have to pay $150-$160 for my dates, so $123 offered by them was not bad. The hotel had the following facilities/features listed: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Free Parking Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower I knew right away that it was not Hilton Del Mar or Marriott since they charge an arm and a leg for on property parking and internet access, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Solana Beach does not a restaurant on property, so I was almost sure it would be Doubletree, which I like even better than Hilton since they give you a yummy cookie upon check-in and more importantly they have a sofa bed in the room for my kid and have free parking. Last time they even gave me complimentary in room access. Plus there is a small plaza with all a grocery store, movie theater a bunch on restaurants nearby. The only think that Hilton has going vs. Doubletree is proximity to the beach and The Fish Market restaurant, whose happy hour $1.25 oysters my family loves. So I am very pleased with the outcome. As always, I used HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links from this forum to bid and rebid. Thank you for you this valuable service.
  7. Yes, there are also Golf and Roll-in Shower amenities listed for this hotel. I used the HOTWIRE link on the board to begin my search.
  8. Trying to book a hotel in South Lake Tahoe for the Labor Day week-end. Used Hotwire and PRICELINE links on this site to see the options available. Please help me ID a 3* hotel that is recommended in 75% of Hotwire customer reviews and costs $120 for 8/31/-9/3/12. It has the following amenities: Near beach Smoke free rooms Fitness center Pools Golf nearby Laundry familities (self-service) Free parking Accessible bathroom High-speed internet access Accessible path of travel Handicapped parking Thank you in advance for your help.
  9. We are leaving for San Diego tomorrow morning, and am going to stay in hotel that does not offer free Internet, so wanted to finalize reservations for our last night in Del Mar/North Coastal. So I bid $70 for Del Mar zone again by bidding on 2.5* hotel, knowing that none have been identified so far, and received counter offer of $79. After checking Hotwire and identifying 3* hotel that was offered for $114 as Doubletree Del Mar, which I love, and checking Hotels.com to see what price Morgan Club, which I would have preferred to avoid, and finding out that it is fully booked (yeah!), I was pretty sure that I got a bite from Doubletree. So I re-bid $75 for Del Mar zone by choosing 2* hotel, and my offer was accepted by Doubletree. I am very happy with the outcome. The only thing that could have made me happier is if I could stay there for entire 6 days of our trip, and avoid paying $17 parking at Hilton and whatever they charge for Internet, which I have to use for work. Doubletree offers free Internet in the lobby, and I love their warm cookie.
  10. Tried again several times using the PRICELINE link on this site aiming to get a 3* or better hotel in Del Mar or North County Coastal going up to $65 and was rejected every single time. I paid $70 per night plus taxes and fees (plus $17 parking) for the previous 5 nights at 3.5* Hilton Del Mar, so have a hard time paying much more than that. We'd be heading back North on Saturday, so might bid for a hotel in Dana Point - San Clemente next.
  11. I need a room for one night on August 19-20, 2011 at some place North of Del Mar, CA. Not too far of a drive. And preferably without huge resort or parking fees such as charged by Sheraton in Carlsbad. In their case they charge a resort fee and for adding a rollaway bed for the child, which is the only time I've seen it happen so far.
  12. Using PRICELINE link on this site I bid $40 for a 3* hotel in Northern Coast, then added San Ysidro - Mexico Border zone, which only has 2.5* hotels and below, and rebid $50. Got rejected again. Waited 24 hours, unfortunately, too long to take advantage of $6 off promotion, and bid $55 and $60 for the same zones, and got rejected again. Will try again tomorrow.
  13. Thanks! Sorry for not clarifying the dates, I thought I mentioned it but the deal above is for 8/14-8/19. When I tried to extend my stay for another day, my bid got rejected. So I am still bidding for another hotel night in the area for 8/19.
  14. I bid $70 for 3.5* property in Del Mar-Rancho Santa Fe using PRICELINE link on this site and my bid was immediately accepted by Hilton Del Mar. Made me wonder if I bid too high but I did fair bit of research before bidding, and knew that this is a good price for these dates and area, even taking into consideration $17/day self-parking, so am more than content with the outcome. I tried to extend my stay by a day at the same rate, which is normally an option, but my request was rejected by the hotel.
  15. Started bidding on hotel in Del Mar using PRICELINE link at the top of the page, went from $50 to $97 using re-bids and re-starting search several time from the PRICELINE link with no luck. Wondering if hotel prices too high for these dates or if it is difficult ot get a room for a week using Priceline. $97 was my reservation price since it's how much I'd have to pay if I were to book a room at Doubletree Del Mar using extended stay rate less 10% AAA discount (need to confirm in the morning if it applies) less cost of self parking at Hilton Del Mar ($17). I'd still be saving some on taxes if I were to win a room through Priceline but not enough to entice me to bid higher, at least not for now. Do you recommend I split the stay in half?
  16. I've stayed at this property several times, and it's pretty good but is not in the best location for the beach/Del Mar downtown, and they charge $17 for self parking and $23 for valet (with in and out priviliges). Considering the price you paid, I'd still be OK with it. They also don't offer free Internet (everything is expensive at this hotel) but nearby Denny's does, which is where I checked my e-mai over coffee. Also nearby seafood restaurant has great happy hour oyster specials if that's your thing. HTH!
  17. This property is rated 3*. And according to Priceline I bid 12 times on the same area for same dates and star level. 11 of my bids were rejected and 12th accepted by Courtyard. I don't understand what happened but to me that was clearly a computer error, I did not bid that many times without changing criteria. Anyway, they would let me cancel for $25 fee if I rebook for the same dates through their site before check in date. Ir book through their full price site. I had really bad connection on cell phone when I called and a work call coming up, so would have to call back to understand all the details, but would definitely be cancelling this bid and re-booking. Of course, I'll use your PRICELINE link to initiate the process. I am upset about $25 fee but it's better than getting stuck in Carson City.
  18. Re-started bidding from PRICELINE link and this time bid $60 for 3.5* property in South Lake Tahoe, NV - rejected Added Carson City and re-bid $70 - rejected Re-started bidding from PRICELINE link and bid $80 for 3.5* in in South Lake Tahoe, NV and Gardnerville - Minden, NV - rejected Added Carson City and re-bid $90 - rejected Re-started bidding from PRICELINE link and bid $100 for 3.5* in in South Lake Tahoe, NV and Incline Village - rejected Added Carson City and re-bid $110 - won Courtyard Carson City Not pleased at all as there supposed to be no 3.5* star hotels in Carson City. Off to call Priceline. Site was crashing as I was bidding and I wonder if I accidentally changed the star level?
  19. Started bidding from PRICELINE link at this site and went in $10 increments from $50 to $100. All bids rejected. Will try again for a lower star property. Must be limited availability/high prices for Labor Day week-end.
  20. I entered my dates PRICELINE's link at the top of the page, determined rebid zones for a 4* hotel and started bidding: $90 for South Beach - Ocean Drive area - rejected $100 for South Beach - Ocean Drive and Aventura areas - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $110 for South Beach - Ocean Drive and Dadeland - rejected $120 for Ocean Drive, Dadeland and Aventura areas - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $130 for South Beach - Ocean Drive and Miami Lakes - Hialeah areas - rejected $140 for $120 for Ocean Drive, Miami Lakes - Hialeah and Aventura areas - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $150 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, Miami Lakes - Hialeah and Dadeland - rejected $160 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, Miami Lakes - Hialeah, Dadeland and Aventura - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $170 for South Beach - Ocean Drive and Miami West - rejected $180 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, Miami West and Aventura - rejected $190 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, Miami West, Aventura and Dadeland - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $200 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, Miami West, Aventura and Miami Lakes - Hialeah - rejected Restarted search from the Priceline's link at the top of the page and bid $205 for South Beach - Ocean Drive and North Miami - rejected $210 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, North Miami and Aventura - rejected $215 for South Beach - Ocean Drive, North Miami, Aventura and Dadeland - accepted by Crown Plaza Ocean Z I've done a fair amount of research so realize that I started bidding pretty low, but was willing to give it a try several times in hopes of find the bottom. Presume you happy I did as I generated lots of bidding from your page :).
  21. Please help ID a South Beach Oceanfront Collins area hotel with the following amenities: - Ocean front - Smoke free rooms - Pool(s) - Restaurants(s) - Laundry facilities (self-service) - High-speed internet access - Spa Services Price per night for October 13-17, 2011 is listed as $276. And it is recommended by 95% of the travellers.
  22. I connected to Priceline via a PRICELINE link on this site. I first bid $60 for a 4* hotel in San Diego (Coastal), my bid got rejected. I then added San Ysidro area, which has 2 1/2* hotels and below, and bid $65. My bid got rejected again. So I decided to try one more time before re-starting bidding from a link on this site, and added National City area, which also only has 2 1/2* hotels and below, and bid $70. Huray, huray, my bid was accepted by Hyatt Regency La Jolla. Totally unexpected (this hotel normally goes for much, much more) and welcome. A friend has stayed in this hotel and had nothing but good things to say about it.
  23. I started by reviewing Tripadvisor reviews and hotel prices on regular travel websites such as Hotels.com, Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, BookIt etc. Then I checked what others have paid for Priceline hotel reservations in San Diego area for the week of my trip. Armed with this information I clicked on PRICELINE link at the top of the page and placed $60 bid for a 3.5 hotel in North County Coastal area. It was rejected. I added an area with no 3.5 hotels and bid $65. It was rejected. I restarted my search from betterbidding.com page utilizing PRICELINE link, and added another area with no 3.5 hotels and bid $70. I was offered to increase my bid by $20 to $90. I knew I am getting close to my offer being accepted, so I proceeded further by increasing my bid by $1. I restarted my search from betterbidding.com page utilizing PRICELINE link several times. I was offered to increase my bid by $20 when I bid $71, $72, $73 and $74. My bid was finally accepted by Grand Pacific Palisades at $75. The cheapest I could have booked this hotel elsewhere was $114 plus tax, so I saved about $80 for a 2 day stay, and had fun doing it. I knew going into this process that I would most likely end up with Grand Pacific Palisades. I have read hotel reviews and would have been OK with this outcome (Sheraton would have been a bonus). I also knew that I would most likely end up paying $75. And that's what happened. Thank you for helping me make an informed decision.
  24. Using Price.link link bid for Brentwood 4* hotel starting at $95, hoping to end up with Palomar Westwood for $120-$125 (someone else won it for $121 for 7/17-18/10). Re-used the link every 2-3 bids. Was offered to up the bid to $145 after bidding $125, but decided to continue increasing bids by $5. Used up free re-bids at $130. Restarted again by adding Santa Monica, which has only one 4* hotel that is fairly expensive. Ended up with Palomar $145, which I am happy about. Hotel gets excellent reviews, and the next cheapest price for this hotel was $186 plus tax at Expedia and more than $200 elsewhere.
  25. First I bid $45 for 3.5* hotel near LAX, then I bid $48 for LAX and Lawndale, and finally my $50 for LAX and Culver City was accepted by Hilton Los Angeles Airport. Total with taxes and fees came to $64.52. This was cheaper than Hotwire or any of the other alternatives. As always I used BetterBidding PRICELINE link (twice) for the bids. I also bid several times for a 4* hotel near LAX going from $45 up to $75 using $5 step. None of the bids were accepted.
