I found a 2.5* for $50 and 3* for $76 for Sept. 12, 2015. Both have free parking, free breakfast and free Internet and are pet-friendly. Also pool, fitness center and self service laundry and both highly rated. This area is not listed on your hotel lists. Can you help?

I booked it and it is Embassy Suites at 601 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA, 92101. This is a great location right across from Seaport Village. They charge $29 for valet parking (the only option) but I think this is still a good deal for a nice suite with kitchenette and full breakfast!

Same result as this previous hotwire purchase Feb. 11-12 2012, 3* HOTWIRE Wyndham Garden Inn $60. Good location and good value for the price. We have a baby and I asked for a microwave and was upgraded to a suite with sofa, table and sitting area. Hotwire 3* $56 + tax Feb. 5-6 2012 Crowne Plaza Hotel Circle North. Very comfortable and satisfied for the price, good service. Please note they charge $12 for parking (which was waived by simply asking after hearing the convention guest checking in next to me get free parking.)

Anyone very familiar with this area would advise against staying between Federal Hwy (US1) in the east and University in the west, unless you are visiting family or friends and specifically want to be there. It is not close to the beach or any major business or tourist attractions and parts of the area are not particularly clean or safe. A similar rating in a beach area would likely produce greater satisfaction - even if your hotel does not end up perfect, the area would be more desirable.

Thanks. The Extended Stay Plantation gets excellent reviews but another post indicated this could be Plantation Hotel & Conference Center (a Quality Inn now) and it gets really horrible reviews. Obviously at that price it is risky - it is a very busy weekend and hard to find good deals. I will go through the links here if we decide to take this trip. Thanks again.

We booked the same on Hotwire, same rate (Extended Stay Deluxe at 1401 SW 15th Street Pompano Beach, Florida 33069 for $53 + tax) for 2/18/08 and decided to book again for 2/19/08 to 2/21/08. We got a king suite, nice sized overall with kitchenette (full sized fridge, 2 burners, microwave, dishwasher and some dishes), large dressing area and bathtub - kind of apartment like in a decent area near a Marriott, Sheraton and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport with several restaurants a block or so away. This is good for the business traveler with rental car - not near the beach and nightlife. Can't complain at all for the price in the height of high season in South Florida.

Hi, I have posted regarding St. Thomas but don't know how to "bump this thread" (sorry, please help!) I am new to this and really like it and would like to learn the guidelines!

We paid for 5 nights (1 person 3 nights, 1 person 2 nights) on Hotels.com at $153/night at Bluebeards Castle. When my husband and his business associate arrived in the evening to check in, they were informed they had no rooms and could not accommodate them. I immediately began searching for options without spending $350 and up for the few decent hotels that were still showing as available. I found the $162 on Hotwire and thought it might be the Best Western Carib Beach, which is a very run down place - I called them to see if they had any rooms and they said they were completely full. I thought it might also be Sapphire Village, which is on the other side of the island but it was too late to reach anyone there, and there were no rental cars available and taxis charge whatever they feel they can get (super high season.) In the meantime I called a number of independent hotels I know and ended up with $223 and $249 at Island Beachcomber. Hotels.com is refunding the prepaid amount and will pay up to $100 per room per night for the additional amount we had to pay. I had planned on booking two other gentlemen into Bluebeards via Hotels.com for Thursday, Feb. 14 (I called to confirm and they were also fully booked) so had to scramble for them and ended up with Bunker Hill Hotel at $120.75 per room. A perfectly decent place and a good value, but downtown and not the best area to wander after dark. I find this forum very helpful and appreciate everyone's input! Thank you!

There are many small, independent low-priced hotels in Cozumel and I am not sure if Hotwire books them or tends to stick with bigger names. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!

I found a 2* hotel on Saint Thomas, USVI on Hotwire for $162 per room (requesting 2 rooms) for one night Feb. 14, 2008. Description says pool and restaurant. I saw the post that the $139 for this week is likely Best Western Carib Beach. Do you think the one I found is the same or another property? Thank you!!
