  1. Thanks thereuare! Hubby is travelling solo on this trip :) but I'll pass on the breakfast tip. We've stayed in the Barclay before and I'm now even more disappointed at not being able to travel, it's a great hotel. And the rate is less than we paid in January last year ($189) so we're very happy.
  2. Tried Priceline again this morning (via SavingsBarn) and got the Intercontinental for $150 per night. RESULT!!
  3. It looks from Hotwire like the Grand Hyatt hasn't released its rooms for May yet. We have a cancellable reservation with another hotel in the hope we can get the Hyatt for under $200 later this month for first week in May.
  4. Tonight (access as usual) MTE $187 MTE & UES $191 MTE, UES & UWS $197 closed browser same sequence with MTW closed browser MTE & MTW - $201 all rejected. Hotel needs to be around here due to travelling friends in same area (ideally MTE). Should we quit and try again in a week or so or give up? Have cancellable reservation in Hotel Mela at $237 per night as backup.
  5. Same strategy tonight - accessed PL through SavingsBarn.com link :) $157, $165 and $180 all refused. Then decided to add MTW and bid $185 - all rejected :)
  6. So far today have bid $121 (nothing wrong with being optimistic) added UES and bid$137 added UWS and $154 all rejected. Any advice for tomorrow's bids appreciated
  7. Checked out packages on on hotwire and revealed that the $173 was likely to be the Hyatt Got some advice and bid on priceline $110 4* MTE - unsuccessful $120 4* MTE & UWS - successful Grand Hyatt
  8. We've just got great flights but I'm struggling to get a decent hotel at under $200 a night. I've used Priceline in London and Chicago so guess its time to give it a go in NYC. Stayed in the Barclay last time and loved it, got it on Hotwire. There is a 4* on hotwire at the mo at $173 that could be the Barclay or the Hyatt. Want to pay as little as possible, really would prefer MTE as location. Any advice?
  9. Booked it! Had gone up by a whole $1 in the meantime but Barclay Inter-Continental it was for $170 per night Jan 24-29. Cheapest rate on thier website is $295
  10. Thanks! Haven't booked yet, will do in the morning (1am here) and will post with hotel details. The Barclay was the closest match I could find on the list but one of the icons listed was missing (or vice versa) Anyway thanks for your help
