  1. Hopefully it's not the Best Western Sterling. There isn't anything best or sterling about this property.
  2. I initially played the Greer, SC area for a 2.5 star at $37.00. That was a no go. The median price in Greer was $92.00. I suspect I was bidding on the only hotel that was rated 8.0 or better. Played Greenville Airport with my next bid of $39.00 and got the Best Western Greenville Airport Inn. I am confident that other bidders can get that property for a few dollars less.
  3. Bid unsuccessfully at $43 to $48 before hitting on $49. Both the Charlotte Auto Fair as well as the Metrolina antique show take place during this time period so extraordinary deals on hotel rooms are tricky to negotiate. i have stayed at the Country Inns & Suites Charlotte Airport many times. The property is not as good as it used to be several years back. They have scaled back breakfast and the rooms need renovating.
  4. I could have got something for $40.00 just a couple of days ago but waited. The lowest rated Priceline 2.5 star in the area, a colleague stayed at this property back in September and did not think very highly of it. We'll see.
  5. The guest rating of this property isn't very good at only a 6.2 but it has a kitchenette. We shall see.
  6. Tried several areas and concentrated on two and a half star properties in Greenville, Greer and Piedmont. Upon bidding $51.00 I received an unexpected upgrade to a three star at 53% off the list price. As to be expected, many three star properties do not include a free breakfast but the 8.3 out of 10 guest rating is pretty good. Please be aware that this property has two separate wings and each has three floors. In one of the sections the elevator is undergoing service. Be sure to inquire about this unless you don't mind climbing stairs. Also, this property has a 4:00pm check-in time. All rooms are non-smoking and come with refrigerators. Only some have microwave ovens.
  7. Sorry for the delayed post. This hotel wasn't on the list when I originally started my bidding process. About nine hours later, when I continued bidding for a hotel in this area I was awarded this property. I suspect that a guest survey review or two pushed it just over the 7.0 mark and permitted the property to be offered on Priceline. It was at a 7.2 guest rating when I won it. There were a number of problems with this property and all things considered, I would not stay there again, especially for the price.
  8. Attempts to acquire a 2.5 star hotel at the Northlake or the University areas proved unsuccessful, even at bids as high as $47.00. I received the customary Priceline enticement to increase my price by such and such amount to receive another chance to bid. I didn't take the bait and instead, opted for another area of Charlotte to stay in. I have stayed at this Country Inns & Suites several times and have been quite pleased, each and every time. According to a friend, travelers should try to avoid the Holiday Inn Charlotte airport which is just down the road.
  9. A friend said he got stuck with this property back in October of 2012. Coincidently, he was hoping for the Country Inns & Suites, as well. He said there were a number of problems. Not only was there no complimentary breakfast, there wasn't even coffee for their guests.
  10. $40.00 per night. Not as good of a percentage discount as I would have liked but still better than than the mystery hotel deal on Hotwire or Priceline's no-bid Express Deal. Considering it's a very busy travel time of the year and with less than 14 days prior to check-in, I did alright.
  11. Please note that if you are bidding on 2.5 star Midtown properties in Savannah, GA using Priceline, their map showing the location of the Fairfield In & Suites, Interstate 95 South is in error. The hotel is actually located just off of Interstate 95, not in the Habersham Woods area as it is shown on the Priceline map. I attempted to notify Priceline using a few of their customer service phone numbers but reaching a human being there can prove as difficult as finding the holy grail. I contacted the hotel to notify them of the mistake. If a bidder believes this hotel to be in the midtown area of Savannah they may be sorely disappointed. Hopefully the oversight will be corrected promptly.
