  1. Bid $35...PL countered $44 I laughed at that offer and added NW Portland Bid $36...ACCEPTED! Your Offer Price: $36.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.77 Total Charges*: $47.77 Parking is free, all rooms are non-smoking, and the hotel has recently been renovated. I already put in a request for 2 beds, and they said it would not be a problem. Could they be Priceline friendly?
  2. Saturday Night in Atlantic City during the summer wasn't cheap. I started at $60 and worked my way all the way up to $170, declining several counteroffers over the span of 6 days. The counteroffers never went below $185, and I went up in $5 or $10 increments. The hotel retails for $309/night + tax for that night. Your Offer Price: $170.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 4 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $680.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $119.28 Total Charges*: $799.28
  3. Summer appears to be quite expensive for Seattle. I figured I would try to get the same deal as my earlier win for late August. $35 was rejected last time while $37 was accepted, so I started at $36. First Bid--$36--ACCEPTED Your Offer Price: $36.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.33 Total Charges: $48.33 Hotel offers complimentary parking. Cheapest rate I have seenfor this hotel on this night is $168.
  4. Forgot to mention, cheapest rate I have seen for this hotel on 6/22 is $168+tax
  5. I'm on my way from Portland to British Columbia and decided to crash near Seattle for a night to break up the drive to Whistler. I noticed a $47 rate for a 2* on Hotwire which appeared to be La Quinta. I thought I might try to undercut that a bit. I did not really care what part of town I would stay in as long as it was North or East of downtown to not compete as much with morning traffic. I was surprised to win the Paragon, which is listed as a 3* on Expedia and a 2* on Priceline. Bid $33 for 2* in Bellevue...Priceline COUNTERED $42 Bid $35 (free rebid UW)...Rejected Bid $37 (added Lake Union since I would be content with it, though I would be stunned if Lake Union came in that low)...ACCEPTED PARAGON HOTEL BELLEVUE CENTER Subtotal: $37.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.48 Total Charges: $49.48 *Parking and Wireless Internet are complimentary for hotel guests Hotel has supposedly just finished renovations Has anyone won this hotel before???
  6. Bid 55--rejected Bid 57 added ocean city--rejected Bid 59 added west a.c.--rejected Bid 60 added vineland--ACCEPTED. I was hoping for the Sheraton, Holiday Inn, or Tropicana...something by the boardwalk. The Harrah's rate on Expedia is $79 and $99 on Harrah's website. Not much of a win (probably only saved $13 after Priceline fees), but it'll still be fun.
  7. After starting the bidding at $46, I went up $1 at a time over the span of two days. Every zone is Orange County is a free re-bid for a 4* hotel in Costa Mesa/Irvine except the Newport/Huntington zone. That being said, when bidding under $60, the Newport zone might as well be a free re-bid in an emergency, for I have not ever heard of the Hyatt Huntington Beach coming in for less than $75 over the past few years. As for today's bidding... Bid $55...rejected Added Anaheim Hills $56...rejected Added Dana Point $57..rejected Added Disneyland $58...ACCEPTED Subtotal $58.00 Taxes and Fees $14.63 Total $72.63 I expect parking to be about $12/day (tripadvisor)
  8. Am I to believe that around $27 in taxes in a nonstop flight, while around $55 in taxes connects somewhere? This would help to know when deciding if using Priceline for airfare was worth it or not.
  9. 1st Bid $35 Rejected Added Gurnee $38 Rejected Added Libertyville $41 ACCEPTED Taxes and Fees $12.14 Total $53.14
  10. I'm headed to a wedding in Orange County--needed a hotel for the night. Started bidding at $49 for Costa Mesa/Irvine REJECTED Free Re-bid $50 and added Seal Beach REJECTED Free Re-bid $51 and added Dana Point REJECTED Free Re-bid $52 and added Buena Park REJECTED Free Re-bid $53 and added Disneyland REJECTED Free Re-bid $54 and added Laguna Hills ACCEPTED Marriott Irvine John Wayne Airport, 1 night 6/10/06 Sub Total $54 Taxes and Fees $13.61 Total $67.61 Parking will be an extra $12, but I'm still coming out ahead with a nice hotel. This hotel retails for $129+tax on Expedia. I'm concerned about the hotel being on the 405, but it's just for 1 night.
  11. Started at $85 Added Lake Union / $90 Added UW / $95 Added SEA Airport / $100 Added another area with no 4* hotels/ $105 ACCEPTED 2 rooms, $105/night, Sheraton Convention Center About $249 with taxes and fees
  12. 2 Nights 3/17-3/19 $52/night Taxes and Fees 17.54 Total 121.54 Bid $50, PL countered $64 Added Horsham (no 3 stars) $52 bid accepted :)
  13. Bid on 6/25/05 2 Tickets $165 each Taxes and Fees $27.35 each Total for 2 tickets $384.70 Lowest Published Price at Time of booking: $314.39 / ticket Hotwire offered a deal at 211/ticket, so I figured a ticket could be had.
  14. Last summer $35 rejected Re-bid at $37 accepted 2 nights Subtotal $74 Taxes and Fees $16.97 Total $90.97
  15. My brother just used Priceline last week and got the Westminster Opera around Valentine's Day weekend for the same price. I think it's right near the Opera metro station.
  16. Rejected Bids: $100, $105, $110, $115, $125 Tried Again 3 days later Rejected Bids: $120, $130, $140 $150 Accepted--upgraded to 4* plus Spent 1 night in Paris before flying to Venice for a cruise The hotel tried to pretend that we had to pay them for the room when we had already paid Priceline. After talking with the manager and explaning the situation, they apologized and gave us a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower. I think the Westin has since bought this property from the Intercontinental.
  17. $75 bid rejected $80 bid rejected $90 bid accepted Wimbledon was going on at the time, so we didn't feel cheated at that price. Hotel was right next to the underground station. The lobby was nice, but the room did not feel like a 4 star hotel. Walls were chipped. We didn't care. We were in London for 1 night, so hanging out in the hotel was not a priority.
  18. $46 rejected $51 rejected $56 rejected $61 accepted Retailed at $259/night on Expedia the day my bid was accepted
  19. I had rejected bids of $45, $50, and $55 before the accepted bid. There were some decent re-bid zones (I think Camarillo among others) that helped with the process.
  20. I checked the recent history of the lowest accepted bids for this region. Because it will be President's Day weekend, I did not start any lower. First bid, $60/night, accepted. One day later, the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs appears to now be sold out. I'm arriving late, so I will contact the hotel, as I probably don't want to switch Hilton's at 11:30pm.
