This the same place I stayed the previous 3 nights. I am getting frugal. But I start to wonder how I can try other places in this town.

Extended Stay America 4929 New Center Drive Wilmington, NC 28403 (910)-793-4508 Priceline lists TV, Telephone and alarm Clock as Amenities. Hotwire lists this property (I recognize it from the familiar icon of Kitchen and Laundry, common for all ESA and Homestead) for $48. $65 on Expedia. The property is undergoing a renovation, the inside corridor is messy. However, the renovated room has nice wood floor in kitchen and bath. The furnitures are clean, comfortable and functional.

2.5* Wilmington, NC Failed Bid, $37 for 2006/02/13-2006/02/16 This is my first experience with this market. 2.5* is the highest rating here on the Priceline, even though there are higher level hotels (e.g., Hilton) here.

$40. 2006/02/01 - 2006/02/04 Country Inn and Suites Sunnyvale 1300 Chesapeake Terrace Sunnyvale, CA 94089 4080747-0999 My $40 bid for San Jose (Airport and Downtown) was rejected. It was accepted when I added Santa Clara - Sunnyvle. Not bad for weekdays. This property was rebadged as Country Inn recently. It is located in a nice industrial park. The room is spacious and nicely appointed. Free WI-FI works flawlessly. Complimentary full breakfast is above average.

ExtendedStay San Jose Fremont 5355 Farwell Place Fremont, California 94536 No Amenities listed on Hotwire It is a tough day to find a place in San Jose at reasonable price. Expedia shows very limited availability at any price in Santa Clara County. The lowest price shown on Expedia for Fremont was $48 for Goodnite Inn, a 1* place. Priceline would not accept my bid at $47 for San Jose to Fremont. Hope I'll better luck for the weekend. It is for 2006/01/25 to 2006/01/26.

Fred17: I have not ventured there on Hotwire, but there are (only?) 2 hotels that fit into 4* Boutique category, Hotel DeAnza and Hotel Montgomery, in downtown San Jose. WzDancer

2* Homestead Suite at San Jose Airport 1560 North First St., San Jose, CA 95112 2006/01/01 -2006/01/04. I could smell a Homestead whenever I saw Kitchen and Laundry symbols. I might be able to find a better place for $40 at Priceline, but I picked this place knowing its proximity to Light Rail stations and FREE Bus 10 to SJC. This establishment is listed on the Hotwire all the time for $34 - $40 per day. It beats a complex nearby renting furnished studio apartment for $1250 per month.
