  1. I just checked Hotwire for 2 Rooms and 3 Adults for Aug 11-13 in Montreal, Dorval Airport A 2* shows up with Shuttle, Gym, and Restaurant for $41/night - can anyone identify it? thanks
  2. hmmm... NOW I see it but at $162; thanks for the suggestion, it's odd that it doesn't show up with 2 or 4 guests, but does with 3.
  3. Hmm...as they say, you snooze, you lose ;-) I tried your suggestion and I'm seeing a 4* at $156 but instead of tennis I see Golf. All the other amenities remain the same; might this be the same? The Westin's website lists golf as 30 miles away! thanks for your help so far.
  4. I've done a search at Hotwire for 1 room for 2 people starting Jul 30 and leaving Aug 2. I limited it to 4* and up and Downtown Toronto East. I get two choices 1. 4* in Downtown Toronto East at $86 with Gym, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, Hi-Speed, and Spa 2. 4* in Don Valley Area at $80 with Gym, pool, restaurant, business centre, laundry, and spa Anyone got any idea which hotels these might be? I've been given the task of hitting the Westin by 'she who must be obeyed'! ;-) thanks for any help
  5. First bid at $56 for 3.5* Upscale in Syracuse University accepted by this hotel Add fees of $15.19 for a total of $71.19 Used the betterbidding PRICELINE Link
  6. I can't identify the hotel but I can give you some suggestions Holiday Inn Express Trenton Holiday Inn Express Belleville Best Western Belleville Ramada Inn Belleville Hope this helps with the search.
  7. Used your PRICELINE link and got this for Feb 13. Total with fees is $52.62
  8. Used the HOTWIRE link and got this for $47/nt plus charges - total $112.49 Shuttle Gym Pool Restaurant Business Centre High Speed Spa
  9. Thanks for the advice, location isn't important. So I'll go for the Airport hotel
  10. The tripadvisor.com reviews are not promising. I think I'm going to try for the Delta West at Pearson, which looks like it shows as 3.5* at $47 with Shuttle Gym Pool Restaurant Business Centre High Speed Spa Do you think I might be right?
  11. Hotwire shows a rate of $47 for a 3.5* in Toronto Downtown East when I search for a room with check in of 30 Jan and check out of 1 feb Amenites are non-smoking fitness centre pool restaurant business centre high speed children's activities Could this be the Delta Chelsea?
  12. Thanks but I already used PRICELINE (with your link) and got the Crowne Plaza at $55. Frankly I would have liked to try for the Elgin, but somehow the Laundry facility made me wonder if it was accurate...which is why I was hoping someone else had won this description before and could confirm...perhaps next visit
  13. No longer available on Dec 5, but it is showing up for me on Dec 6 now.
  14. Just bid using the betterbidding PRICELINE link for 4* at $55 and was rejected. Added 3.5* and was accepted at $55 One thought that has been in mind for a while is the format used by other posters with winning bids. While my bid was $55 once you add the taxes and fees it gets to $70.23 total amount billed. I've been looking at several hotel nights on a cross continent trip lately and I'm finding that hotels in the Holiday Inn Express/Best Western class are not anymore expensive if booked directly with the hotel website than the winning bids I see here after you add the PL fees. From that point of view I'm wondering if we are all getting 'punch drunk' on bidding, and not seeing the bigger picture and the total cost. If this is not the best forum for this discussion I apologise in advance.
  15. Hotwire shows a 3.5* for $69 on Dec 5 with Shuttle, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, High Speed Internet, Laundry. Could this be the Lord Elgin? thanks for any help.
  16. Used your PRICELINE link and booked this at $50 first try - why do I feel that I could have gone lower? ;-))
  17. Used your PRICELINE link and booked at $55 on first try.
  18. I followed the bidding strategy in this Priceline Ottawa thread and got to the second stage of bidding at $55 when I was offered a room if I upped my bid by $15 - I did so and got the Ottawa Marriot for $70 plus Priceline fees of $17.37 = $87.37 for July 5.
  19. I initially bid $40 for a 3* and the system came back with a counter-offer at $52 it would give me a room. I put in $52 and got the Marriott. Amenties listed are Remote Control TV with Premium Channels Telephone with Voicemail Radio Alarm Clock Iron and Ironing Board Hairdryer Business Services 24 Hour Front Desk Restaurant Room Service Bellman Concierge Fitness Center Access
  20. Sorry for the late post. Hotel details CROWNE PLAZA LONDON-HEATHROW (CP) Amenities:Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center Excellent hotel and service. Key points: 30 mins free parking, shuttle to Heathrow costs 4 pounds one-way and does not go to T4. Cab cost 22 pounds. Good pub lunch of chicken tikka massala at The Plough (10 mins walk)
  21. As other peoplr have mentioned the hotel is undergoing some renovation, but that just reduces the value in my mind. Frankly I don't see this as offerring much more than the Quality Inn on Carlingview which I see was won with the same pricing recently. We did get a room on the 9th floor away from the lifts and it was adequate, but nothing above expectation and less than expected for 4* ratings. Two bottles of water were provided gratis, which is always welcome. All in all good value at $59 - I would not have been happy paying full price for this. Thanks for all the help everyone.
  22. Sure...here's the list of amenities Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby
  23. Thanks for the advice again. Priceline sent me email suggesting I rebid, I tried $60 and was rejected again, so I used your HOTWIRE Link to get the $59 room which turned out to be The Hilton.
  24. So you're saying that if I want to get the Sheraton on Priceline I'd have to consider a $75 bid minimum. Perhaps I should follow the Hotwire advice and take the $59 Hilton - it's only a 4 minute shuttle ride... ;-) thanks for the advice
