  1. The title to this topic has been changed and is incorrect - it's located in the City of Palm Springs (not Rancho Mirage - Indian Wells - Palm Desert) and is a 3* property. It was previously the Wyndham before Marriott bought the property in 2009. This is a different property from the Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells.
  2. Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel 888 East Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Springs, CA 92262 Check-In: Friday, February 12, 2010-04:00 PM Check-Out: Monday, February 15, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $66.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $396.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $65.94 (USD) Total Room Cost: $461.94 (USD) The Renaissance website shows $223/night per room
  3. I live around the corner from there: - it's located at River Ridge golf course, there are 3 other nice public courses within a few miles - there are a few restaurants off Rose Ave and in the Esplanade (Oxnard Blvd and 1010 FWY) - most of Oxnard isn't that great so if you go out in the evening, Main St. in Ventura has nice dining, shopping and movies - you are close to Channel Islands Harbor and Ventura Harbor (nicer than CI HArbor)
  4. Hotwire was indicating this property at $48/night. Last night PL rejected at $33 and $36 (re-bid with Kings Island area). Sheraton Cincinnati North Hotel 11320 Chester Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45246 513-771-2080 Your Offer Price: $39.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $156.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $33.40 Total Charges*: $189.40
  5. The AAA rate is refundable and I went ahead and booked it as a backup. I will wait a while and try bidding again with the strategy you presented in your first reply. Currently, I would prefer not to split my bid but I will look into how that works. Updates will be added to this thread as things unfold. Thanks.
  6. For a couple of reasons, we do have our hearts set at staying at this particular property. If it's any help, northwest Vegas isn't showing up on Hotwire. However, it looks like the Venetian is listed at $155/night. I think my next step will be to bid higher on Priceline. From your experience, is there an estimate of what the winning bid could be based on Priceline offering it to me at $157 (after my first bid of $80)? At some point I may have to decide, at what bid, would it be better to book direct so I do have the option of canceling. Thanks. Edit: While browsing the Marriott website, I found a AAA family special for $161 that includes a pizza and a movie.
  7. Re-bid up to $105 and was rejected. After my first bid ($80) they PL offered "a great deal for you" at $157. Thoughts?
  8. The best rate on their website was $179/night. Hoping to get a room for under $100/night. I plan to start bidding today or tomorrow using savingsbarn.com Thanks!
  9. The best rate on their website was for $209/night. Hotwire was also showing a hotel room at the Westin for $99/night. $11 extra is a great deal for a kitchen and separate bedroom. 10. Overall, I was very pleased with our stay here on 4/13-4/15. Check-in was under 2 minutes and we were accomodated in a non-smoking room with two queen beds. The rooms were pretty basic and included two bottles of drinking water, coffee maker, haridryer, and a desk (w/ highspeed internet). Showtime and Starz were part of the cable lineup. It was raining during our stay but the pool looked pretty nice - much bigger than the one next door at Holiday Inn express. The exercise room had two treadmills, exercise bike, elliptical trainer, and dumbbells. The continental breakfast was one of the better ones that I have had at this type of hotel. It includes two hot dishes (eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, etc) along with the usual fare of make-your-own waffles, cold/hot cereal, bagels, muffins, toast, coffee, juice, etc. During the evening, freshly baked cookies are placed at the check-in counter. There is also a full-service restaurant on-site with room service. A lounge/bar is open in the evenings. Chili's is also conveniently located in the same parking lot. The Karl Strauss Brewery & Restaurant was a great choice for dinner. It is very relaxing because it is located a short walk from the parking lot and is next to a large Koi pond. We sat on the patio and didn't even feel like we were close to the large office complexes. Overall I would recommend this property and the location is great if you are visiting LegoLand or the Wild Animal Park.
  11. That is what I thought but I just wanted to make sure before I make the purchase. He loves Palm Springs, so I will let him pick the dates for when he wants to go. Thanks for the help!
  12. Country Inn and Suites 5975 Lusk Boulevard San Diego, California 92121 858-558-1818 Check-In Date: Thu, Apr 13, 2006 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Apr 15, 2006 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $120.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.87 Total Charges: $141.87
  13. Hello, I was wondering if Priceline allows you to purchase rooms with your own credit card for other people. I am interested in getting my father, for his birthday, a room in Palm Springs for 3 nights. I won't be accompanying him on this trip. Thanks for your help!
  14. You may want to also check the prices at the Hilton Garden Inn at Rancho Mirage. I got a decent rate there over Thanksgiving weekend and it's right next to The River complex.
  15. It looks like I will be keeping my reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn. My max. bid of $125 for a resort was not accepted. Then I also tried for a 2.5* but gave up at $77. Thanks thereuare for your help and I will try again when we go back to Palm Springs in April, 2006.
  16. Here is an update: My latest bid of $125 was rejected today. In 72 hours, I am going to start over at $100 but will also add in the Palm Springs zone on the rebids. I will keep trying for a resort and give up at $125-$135. Wish me luck.
  17. Stayed here 2/11 - 2/13/05. Check-in (1 hour early) was fast and pleasant without an "attitude". The front desk manager said I would get credit on my Marriott Rewards. We were given a nonsmoking room with two queen beds. The room was adequate with your basic lower end hotel furnishings. The sink/vanity is separate from the bathroom. There is a hairdryer and coffeemaker provided but nothing else (fridge, safe, etc.) The cable selection was good and included HBO and pay-per-view is available. The balcony was nice but my view was the Applebees next door. Breakfast costs extra but coffee is available for all guests. The L.A. Times (even Sunday) is delivered to your room in the morning. It was too cold outside for the pool but it looked pretty nice for this type of hotel. There were also two spas and a putting green. The property also has a very small exercise room with treadmills and nautilus machines. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you like to stay close to all of the attractions. Courtyard is located right off I-10 which puts you about 10 minutes from restaurants/shops in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. The Residence Inn next door looked much nicer but Courtyard at $42/night is a great deal IMO. The Marriott website rate was $159/night. Overall, I was very happy with the value of this property.
  18. Arrival date: 11/25/05 for 2 nights Preferred Zone: Rancho Mirage - Palm Desert - Indian Wells I already have a cancellable, backup room at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rancho Mirage for $135/night (including all taxes and fees). I am hoping to get a resort for approximately the same price thru Priceline. Today I bid $75 and was rejected. Added Indio (zone without resorts) and rebid $90 which was also rejected. I would consider a resort in Palm Springs but only after it seems hopeless in Rancho Mirage, etc. These are rates I found on the web: Esmarelda: $199 (AAA rate) Rancho Las Palmas:$242 (AAA rate) JW Marriott Desert Springs: $269 (AAA rate) Hyatt Grand Champions: $265 Great website and thank you for any assistance.
