  1. It's also Old Town Arts Fair weekend, and the Red Sox are playing the Cubs at Wrigley for the first time, and a lot of Boston fans will be there. I have a group of seven guys going out there that weekend; we ended up renting apartments because of the lack of hotel space....
  2. There is only one hotel in that area, the Seaport Hotel. And it tends to be rather expensive (I believe it has shown up on Priceline in the past, but not that often). You're better off getting a downtown hotel and just grabbing a cab to the show; there's not much else out that way besides the Pavilion and a couple restaurants. (Be sure to grab dinner at the No Name Restaurant before the show - some of the best seafood chowder in town, right next to the Pavilion, and relatively inexpensive).
  3. Maybe the Wequasett Inn? (Probably not the correct spelling, but you can probably find it. It's either in Chatham or right on the Chatham line. Another possibility is Chatham Bar's Inn. Or in Brewster, it could be Ocean's Edge (which has appeared on Priceline before). I've stayed at all three - Chatham Bars and Ocean's Edge are both nice, Wequasett has the best location/grounds, but rooms were a touch disappointing. Good luck!
  4. > Alanstarr, you seem to know the area well, what is the > above property like? Could it be classified as a Boutique? I've actually never heard of the Langham, so I can't comment. Nine Zero is similar to XV Beacon - a small, upscale boutique hotel. And after looking at locations, all three fall into Hotwire's Financial District map, so it could be any of 'em... I've been in XV Beacon - very nice place, a good bar, but very small rooms. (They also have an amazing wine cellar, but I don't know if it's open to everyone. They do rent it out for parties and small meetings though.) Haven't been inside the other two hotels mentioned.
  5. In general, there are only two hotels that are considered 5-star in Boston - the Four Seasons and the Ritz-Carlton (actually, there are two RCs now). Since none of these are in the Quincy Market area (they're both in Boston Common), I would hazard a guess that it must be a small, boutique hotel. There have been a couple that opened in the past year or two here. One possibility is XV Beacon, an exclusive boutique located near the State House. It's only a block from the Common, but also just two blocks from the Financial District. So depending upon how they draw their lines, this is one possibility. But that's all just speculation...
  6. I stayed at that Seattle hostel about 3 years ago, and I have to say that it was a very enjoyable time. Clean, well-run, and they had a bunch of group activities as well (trip to Bainbridge Island, Mariners baseball game, etc.). You should call ahead and ask if they have any private rooms available; very similar to a hotel, and a heck of a lot cheaper. (I had a two-bed room for one stay there, then a 4-bed room for another stay.) Bumbershoot is definitely a bad time to get a room; I was lucky enough to bid early and got a room at the Sheraton this year for $65+$10B, but a friend that wants to join me is having no luck getting a room now. Orbitz.com shows some out-of-town 2* hotels (4-5 miles away) in the $50 range; maybe it's worth getting something like that and using the savings to rent a car to get around? Even with the downtown parking charges, you still may save money! Alan
