  1. Tried $77 for a 3.5 star or better (for Downtown or French Qtr) but was declined. I dropped to 75 but for a 3 star or better. Ended up in this 3 star. This is a decent place actually, as I have stayed there once before. Pretty good location. For this particular weekend I think I got a pretty good price. ....and of course I went thru the PRICELINE link on this website!
  2. Pritz, there is a Saints home game that weekend. Worse still, Alabama fans will be staying in New Orleans that weekend for their big game against LSU. If you can't pick another weekend, perhaps you could stay in Metairie or Kenner???
  3. Finally staying in the Marriott on Canal. I've been wanting to stay there for a long time but always got placed elsewhere. I bid $74 for a 3 star and expected to get rejected on my first bid, but here I am in a 4 star! ...and of course I gladly used the PRICELINE link on this forum.
  4. There is a Saints home game that weekend, as well as an LSU home game. However, I just searched on HOTWIRE for those dates and found 2 4-star hotels for less than $100. In fact, one of them is for $80 per night (I think it's the Intercontinental on St. Charles, but not sure). I would try PRICELINE again first. Either way, please use the links from that site for your searches. DISCLAIMER: I do not work for this website!
  5. Killer deal and location! Napoleon House would be a good place for lunch or drinks. It's not a tourist trap like so many places, and they make a good muffaletta. For seafood, I like the Redfish Grill, on Bourbon Street. It's not cheap but I love the food. At least get the crabcakes appetizer! Have fun and be careful.
  6. Tried 60, 65, 70, and finally 74. I was determined to stay in a 4 star this time. You could probably get into a 3* (Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome) for about 60.
  7. I get the best deals using Priceline, in the downtown area. Be sure and use the PRICELINE link from this site.
  8. Tried $50 but Priceline rejected it. Then tried $53 after adding the French Quarter zone to my search. The only drawback to this place is that you really need to take a cab back to the hotel from the French Quarter after dark, but that's only $8 or so. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
  9. Got it on the first try for $44. You might try going lower on the first bid. I was happy to use the PRICELINE link from this site. P. S. This is for 6/29- 6/30
  10. Yeah it's a 4-star, downtown. I've stayed there many times.
  11. Got in to this 3 star hotel for $55. Tried $50 the first time but they didn't take it. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link!
  12. If it's the LaPavillion it is a fairly long walk to the Quarter (6 blocks, maybe). I walked it during the day but took a cab back at the end of the night (too tired by then, and more secure too). If you don't want to walk to the Quarter, it is less than a block from the streetcar that runs down Carondalet to the Quarter. It would only cost like $2. I've stayed in the LaPavillion once and had a seminar there. It's very nice.
  13. Bamboo, I would like to recommend Bossier City instead of Shreveport. All of the 3 star hotels I'm aware of in Bossier are in good parts of town. HINT: Go to Country Kitchen for breakfast, corner of Industrial Drive and Texas Street (Hwy 80) for breakfast. They have the best biscuits you will find anywhere!
  14. Newbie, any 4 star hotel in the Priceline downtown zone should be fine. And by the way, on Hotwire both sides of Canal Street (and therefore, that hotel) now appear to be in their "French Quarter" zone, in case you still want to get into that particular hotel.
  15. Yes! That's the perfect location for this trip to the Quarter. I was happy to go through the PRICELINE link on this website. I also used the tip about adding another area and bidding again. That's a neat trick about adding a 2nd area that doesn't have a hotel that meets your requirements! Thanks, BetterBidding!
  16. I usually get a better deal if I choose downtown as the location. It's within easy walking distance of the French Quarter. And coming in a day early is an excellent idea. There is a lot to do.
  17. Thanks. Here is an exact copy/paste: Amenities Free Internet Fitness Center High-Speed Internet Access NOTE: This is actually listed as a 3 star hotel on Hotwire - my mistake for saying 2.5.
  18. Thanks! And yes, I should use the links from now. I just joined today, so thanks for the suggestion!
  19. I really like that hotel. The view from the upper floors is nice, especially if you are facing the river. And the hotel is in a killer location.
  20. That's one of my favorite hotels. I love the location and it's a 4 star hotel you can get into pretty cheap sometimes.
  21. Yes, $17. It's been this price on Expedia and Hotwire all day. I even called Expedia this morning to report the "error", but they never changed the price. FYI, the hotel charges a resort fee. Hotwire thinks it's $10. Last time I stayed there, it was $9.95.
