  1. I bid $65.00 and received the Hyatt Regency at DFW
  2. I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last three weeks. I like the location, the hotel (especially buying the room upgrade) the staff! However, I think that early check in is very difficult. The first time I arrived I told the clerk I was checking in ( it was around 7:30 AM). I thought she was going to lose her breath. She immediately told me that check in was at 2:00 PM and come back then - no, come back later and see. I spoke to another clerk and manged to get a room around 11:30 AM. Last week I went back (saw the same clerk and avoided her) and the clerk I dealt with told me check in was 2:00 PM, but told me to check back at 11:00 AM, and she did have a room for me. If you are using this property do not make plans that revolve around an early check in.
  3. For the 20 Pounds, you get a much bigger room (by London standards). There is a couch, desk, chair. The bathroom is bigger also. The maid service is very attentive. They have a lounge which I think you can use (not totaly sure if that is the 20 or 35 Pound upgrade) where you can have a free breakfast, drinks, internet., separate chcek out. I have stayed at this hotel twice recently and always look for the upgrade is it is available.
  4. I bid $70.00 for these dates and received it on the first try. I stayed there two weeks ago and was very pleases. I recommend the 20Pound per night room upgrade. It was great! This was bid in the Bloomsbury-Hyde Park area.
  5. I made the bid and on the first attempt it was accepted. I tried bidding the same 4* level for 2/15/06 - 2/17/06 and it was rejeceted. Only a week apart, yet not accepted. Seemed a bit strange to me.
  6. I wish I could floow up, but in all honesty I forget which trip this was and what happened in the end! I think it might be where I got the Thistle Marble Arch for a great price, but I cannot remember what it was. Sorry
  7. I will be in Sydney February 28 - March 6, 2006. I am looking for a 4* hotel. I have bid US$106.00 and it was rejeceted. Any suggestions?
  8. I will be going to Melbourne, Australia in February. Any suggestions for a bid for a 4* or 5* hotel? Thanks!
  9. THank you for the information. When I was last there and they upgraded me for a problem, I thought it would be worth the extra $30.00 per night for the far bigger and nicer room. Since this Thsitle is going for such a low bid, I am presuming that they are empty in January, 2006, so would welcome the money for an upgrade.
  10. After reading the posts here I submitted my bid for $54.00 (total for s night was just under $200.00) You cannot beat that price. I stayed at this hotel in October. It is well located. Rooms are abit small, but not so for London. I must have been in one of the refurbished rooms, it was very nice. They did upgrade me to an executive room after the second night due to some problems. The corridors are VERY long, be prepared to walk! LOL I checked the hotel website and the least expensive room I could find was US$118.00 per night (not sure about vat), so at about $66.00 per night (vat/tax included) I would say Priceline did a greate job! A question: Upon check in you can upgrade your room for 20 or 35 Pounds. Is thiis paid upgrade available for romms purchased through Priceline? Thanks
  11. I bid today for San Francisco 4* Embaracdo area for December 2-5, 2005. I entered $77.00 and was immediately accepted (Wonder if I could have done lower :) ). The total is about $91.00 per night. I checked their website and the rate was $199.00 for two nights and one night at $259.00., so I was quite pleases, as I have always been with Priceline!
  12. I generally use Priceline for hotels in Sydney. For the 5 star range I received the Marriott Harbourside. For 4 Star I have recevied the Marriott by Hyde Park and the Novotel Century. I have been very pleased. Sydney is so easy to get around that you cannot go wrong with bidding the CBD.
  13. I often will split my bid and have saved money. A caution though, you may NOT get the same hotel let alone the same room. I did this recently for a November trip to London. I got the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury and the Thistle Marble Arch. Actually I am happy with it since I will be in different partrs of the city and can do one section from one hotel and the other from the second hotel, and my laundry on the day I switch!
  14. Actually some of the Holiday Inn's are rather nice. You may be thinking of some of the old types in the US, but international some are very nice. There is a great one in London (Holiday Inn Kennsington Forum) and the HI Bloomsbury is nice. Some good ones in Sydney, and a favorete of mine is in Capetown. Most often I am very happy when I receive an international HI from Priceline. Which one are you talking about??
  15. Today (Sept 6, 2005) I went to bid on a 4* Bloomsbury-Marble Arch hotel in London for October 31 - November 4, 2005. I places a bid for $66.00. It told me it was unlikely (I should have tried anyhow :) So I put in a bid for $75.00 (with services/taxes it came out to $90.00 prt night, not bad for a central London hotel. It was accepted for the Thistle Marble Arch. I checked on their website and checked the rates for the hotel. It would have been $189.00 PER night. So I saved almost $100.00 per night! I cannot complain about that at all! :)
  16. I may have done something wrong, but when I tried www.thecumberland.co.uk, I did not find this hotel? Can you help?
  17. Last October (2004) I bid US$100.00 and received this hotel. It was great. Right by the harbour. But, you take your chances. The nice thing about Sydney is that whatever hotel you are in, it is not far from anything. FANTASTIC city! You will love it!
  18. In August, 05 I saw the 3.5* rate of $89.00 plus taxes/servces for Oct 26-28, 2005. When I accepted it, it was the Holday Inn Blomsbury. I have stayed there often. Very please with this.
  19. I have used Priceline several times ( I have always been happy with the results). When my bid is rejected for price, I thought I had to wait 72 hours until I rebid (I tend to narrow it to one area of the city). What is this "re-bid zone" people refer to ? Is there a way to rebid when they say wait 72 hours? Thanks
  20. Thanks for your help. I am willing to bid US$100.00 for a four star. Of course if it is less I will not be upest!
  21. I use Hotwire to book hotels in London, and I have always been very satisfied. It was in the area they said, and the quality of the hotel was the * value. The rate is always signficantly lower then the hotels website. I always us hotwire or Priceline for London and am never disappointed.
  22. I will be in London October 28 - November 4. I looked on Hotwire in Bloomsbury and found a daily rate of US$111.00 per night (which is not bad for a 3 1/2 * hotel). I tried book just the weekend (October 28 - November 1) and got a daily rate for $89.00 per night, a nice savings. I booked it. I then tried the same for November 1 - 4 and it was $112.00 per night. I saved $22.00 per night for three nights doing it this way. I will keep looking for the November 1-4 rates since I did not book it, or try Priceline, although it would not be fun to have to check out of one hotel and then into another with the packing/unpacking.
  23. Hi This is my first post. I am looking for a Priceline bid at a 4 * hotel in London - Bloomsbury, Kennsington area. Any suggestions for a bid amount? Thanks
