  1. I just won a stay at Hotel Vertigo for 2 nights 04/14-04/16 for $115 each night. I won on my third try since I was shooting for Union Square East 4 stars first for that price, but slowly worked my way down to 3.5 stars, then settled on 3 stars, and this is what I got. I hope the location is good since it's a little further from Union Square and Powell Street than I would like. If anyone has stayed here, please feel free to chime in and let me know how your experience was. It seems as if there are mixed reviews (as usual) from most of the booking sites and online reviews that I read.
  2. If you were looking to be close to everything, I would definitely advise staying in Union Square, and Nob Hill would be my second option.
  3. Not a bad hotel, I stayed there last year. Location is great, as long as you don't walk too far east into some parts of the Tenderloin.
  4. I recall really wanting to book this hotel initially because I've heard very good things about other Westin hotels in other cities I've stayed in. definitely sounds unfortunate. I do thank you for the post stay comments though.
  5. That's very true, I've seen rates change drastically within hours. I've just been trying to streek out with my friend when we are actually going. Prices from other members are looking good though.
  6. Sounds great! Great location. I'm also looking to go those days, and would be happy to get the Hilton again.
  7. Navy Pier was great to kill time at, but I wasn't very impressed with the attractions there when I went.
  8. The hotel I was staying at DoubleTree at Hilton didn't really have it's own courtesy car, but after speaking with the doorman, he said that from where we were, a taxi would cost north of $60 to take us to the airport. He made a call to someone he knew who just offered transportation to the airport. Took us in a Lincoln Towncar to ORD for $50.
  9. Sorry, I wasn't trying to steal the thread. I was just trying to get additional information, that's all. I did start my own thread as well.
  10. It's a big last minute, but those are sometimes the best times! Getting the framework together to take a trip with my friend to San Francisco from 11/8-11/11 (dates not set in stone yet) and I'm curious what form of attack should be taken, as well as what prices I should be seeing right now? Back in mid March, I used this website and got the Hilton in Union Square East for $112 a night, 3 nights total, for $399.30 after tax. Thanks for much for helping me get this! In any case, I'm looking to stay somewhere by or within Union Square again. It has to be within walking distance to Powell. I'd definitely prefer a 4* hotel, as I was pretty satisfied with the deal I got at the Hilton off of O'Farrell. It was a quick walk to Powell Street. As long as I didn't walk too far east, it was great. I wouldn't mind a 3.5* hotel as long as I got a killer deal though. I'm looking to spend about $130 max per night. I noticed in another post that someone was able to get the Sir Francis Drake hotel from 11/19-11/21 for $90 a night, which is awesome! Then again, that's from Mon-Wed though. Any specific tips, or idea about where I should start, in regards to pricing, areas, etc?
  11. Thanks for the post! Do you mind telling us what the actual total was? Great location!
  12. Posting the zone would be awesome. I'm looking to stay for 3 days as well about a week before you get there, and I'm trying to gauge what areas and price ranges I should shoot for.
  13. Not a bad hotel at all. I stayed here a few months ago. Location was great in my opinion, and everything was a short walk away. Make sure you get the hot cookie when you check in, they're amazing.
  14. I saw a post from another member for this area, and for about a week after I was planning my stay, so I decided to try my luck with priceline. I first started with Union Square east at $105, rejected. Added in Union Square west at $105, rejected. Increased bid to $112 and got accepted. $399.30 total for 3/29-4/01. I was hoping to get the Grand Hyatt, but the Hilton will do. For anyone from the area, any suggestions on places to eat or go? Thanks in advanced!
  15. I would have to agree with Aaron about the request. The location is great; the hotel, not as much. It is a bit older, and has some character to it though.
  16. Not a bad hotel for the price. I stayed here last year and the experience wasn't too bad. Just be aware that this is hotel is right next to the airport. Noise wasn't too much of a problem. Also, it's not really within walking distance of downtown, so prepare to drive if that's where you're going. If you want down towards the end of the marina, the Tom Ham's lighthouse was delicious. Have fun!
