  1. Did a last minute bid and got the Hotel Normandie 3* for $100/room/nite. It was a nice place and well worth the price. Thanks for your help.
  2. Thanks for the advice - I have already booked the Holiday Inn Express as a backup. One additional question -- in another post someone said that San Juan hotels tend to release rooms very close to the last minute. Do you think I am better off waiting until closer to the date (12/3/05) or should I try to lock in now?
  3. Thanks for the help. Sorry I missed the additional posts on the Hotwire Hotels list. It's not like you put something in bright red to remind people to look further down on the page! :) As I was getting ready to make my hotwire purchase ($175/nite for the Sheraton Suites in San Diego, I believed...) I checked the Sheraton website and lo and behold, there was a buy 2 nites get 1 free promotion that reduced my nightly rate to $136/nite, so I went with that. Again, thanks for all your help. (I'm following your advice on the Puerto Rico hotel too..., and I'll post my progress when I get somewhere.)
  4. Any help identifying the following Hotwire hotels in San Diego would be much appreciated (I have checked the hotel list but I can't find a match for either): dates are 9/9-11/05 zone is Downtown - Harbor Island 3.5* - Suites, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center 3* - Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Kitchenette, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Center, Laundry Facilities Thanks in advance for any help!
  5. Our minimum star rating would be 3* and I would like to pay no more than $100/nite, but obviously would love to get the best deal possible. Thanks in advance for your help.
  6. I believe we got the $49 on our second try. The first try was $45 and rejected, and we used your free retry strategy to great success. Thanks!
  7. We will be in San Juan for one night post-cruise on December 3, 2005. I've checked Hotwire but I am not happy with the available rates and would prefer to use Priceline since I'm not attached to a particular hotel. I could use some help on: 1. Bidding strategy for a 3* or 4* overnite on Priceline, and 2. Backup hotel while I'm trying. I read about the Marriott special in earlier posts from June, but I can't tell if it's still valid and have had no luck with the links. Thanks in advance for any guidance...
  8. We are happy to have found a good place to stay for less than our $50 budget for our weekend getaway. It's not a suite and no kitchen, but they do have a nice pool (I've stayed there before.) Thanks for the advice on my earlier post!
  9. We are LA locals who want to do a local getaway with the kids for the weekend. We're not especially choosy, but would like to have decent place with a pool (no less than 2*) and would love to get a place with a kitchen (like the Residence Inn or similar). We can go anywhere in LA County, but we really don't want to go over $50/nite for our bid. Any suggestions or advice? PS. Thanks for a great site.
