  1. Used BB PRICELINE link to bid 4* Ft. Lauderdale Beach zone, 2 nights, $125/nt., rejected. Offered room for $62/nt. more, but put in rejected $135/nt. bid by adding one of many free rebid zones. Accepted at $145/nt. bid, plus heavy handed $20/nt. "resort fee", now unanimously and simultaneously imposed by hotels in this zone! (These were not common last year when we stayed in February and some anti-trust lawyer should investigate!) Very disappointed because B Ocean Resort gets terrible reviews on TripAdvisor and my wife is furious with me. (We did better last year at this time getting the Sonesta for less money and all the rooms are oceanfront. ) After 15 years using Priceline to buy our hotel stays, and many years of very enjoyable productive use of this great website, I'm becoming a skeptical PL customer. From everything I read, there is no way that this hotel is a Four Star property. There are literally scores of scathing reviews. Somebody must be getting paid off to raise the star levels. Instead of looking forward to our stay in Fort Lauderdale we are dreading what we will find at this pretentious dump. *Levels should be set to take into account the quality of the property and amenities, not just that there are some amenities offered.
  2. Hi, Can you please help ID this Downtown Brooklyn 3* "Boutique" Hotel, for February 18-19 stay: Offered at $98 for two people, one night stay: Amenities Listed: "Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Golf nearby" This could be Hotel Le Blue, Nu Hotel, or A Loft Brooklyn? All "boutique" type hotels, but I don't see these Amenities on your hotel list. - - - - - - - - - - - - Also Hotwire offers a 4* Hotel (not "boutique") for same dates, at $100/nt (which I am guessing could be the Sheraton, because its only 4* listed on your Hotwire List Page): ...so perhaps you can help me determine if this is or is not the Sheraton Brooklyn Downtown??: Amenities: Business center Fitness center Indoor pool(s) Pet friendly Pool(s Restaurant(s) (pool listed twice?) Accessibility: Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thanks so much!
  3. Very little recent info on EWR or other car rentals. Not much guidance for PRICELINE bids in the last few months...... Car rental market is volatile in many markets. I Bid $15/day for Standard Car, EWR, 02-17-2016 to 02-22-2016. Bid rejected with offer to book at $18/day. I did not bother. Re-bid for Full Size car, same dates, at $17/day. Bid accepted with Hertz: Daily offer price:$17.00 Number of days:5 = $85.00 Taxes & Fees $81.68 Total charged: $166.68 Note that the cumulative taxes & fees in this market now about equal the daily rental car fee !! I wanted to post this because there is so little data for car rentals. I suppose it takes time to abstract the bids, but I want to help the Community!
  4. Bid again on Hot.wire for one-night stay, 3^, Colonial Williamsburg, at $53, (9/14-15) with same Amenity List, and got Country Inn and Suites Williamsburg again. Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access After clicking on more info, these other accessibility features came up: Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking With taxes & fees, the cost was the same as our stay in May 2015, so I suppose that the fees Hotwire charges have gone done a couple of dollars. Also, TripAdvisor now rates Country Inn and Suites Williamsburg as #17 instead of #18, a modest bump in popularity. This place is fine for clean basic room, and standard franchise motel hot breakfast.
  5. Amenities Listed (at $50/nt before taxes and fees; $64 w/taxes and Hotwire fees): Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access After clicking on more info, these other accessibility features came up: Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Better Bidding pinned map did not even list this property, Country Inn and Suites By Carlson Williamsburg Historic Area 400 Bypass Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185 (757) 259-7990. Based on amenities listed (first group) and 3* Level, Holiday Inn Express was the only pinned hotel property listed by our fearless Moderator. So, please list the Country Inn and Suites in Colonial Williamsburg and update your database. We are not greatly disappointed, as TripAdvisor lists this hotel as #18 out of 79 properties in Williamsburg, vs. (listed) Holiday Inn Express, rated at #21 out of 79. Both hotels get solid marks for comfort and location, and both get a "meh" for free breakfast food quality. What the heck, free is still free! Yogurt and waffles here we come!
  6. Amenities listed were: Free Parking Resort 1 Bedroom Suite Full kitchen Indoor pool(s) Air-Conditioning Laundry in room Fitness Center Pool(s) Most of the other booking sites, like TripAdvisor, Expe.dia, Travelocity, Hotels..com, Booking.com, etc., all listed for $5-10 more per night than Hot.wire. Final price for the 3 night stay is $268.24 including taxes & fees. But wait! They now add a $10/nt "resort fee" at the front desk, which is laughable, but the total now is $298.24, right around $100/nt all in. Hotwire will warn you about the $10/nt resort fee added. Still, for the quality of the accommodations, especially if you use the amenities, it's a good value. Just don't expect perfectly maintained and groom common areas which are good, not great. They call it luxury, but that's a bit of a stretch in our opinion. It's nice, not top shelf for sure. In Williamsburg West, located about 5-6 min drive from Colonial Williamsburg and downtown core (except during rush hour!) there are only 2 Condo properties I've ever seen on hotwire, which is this one, and their sister property, the Greensprings. I have booked the latter Condo Resort on hotwire before, but have not seen it offered there lately. Hotwire seems to be the lowest priced buy-it-now website for these Condos. CAVEAT: However, my advice to anybody staying at these Condo's however, is to not, under any circumstances, take Diamond Resort's (owner) Time-Share "Tour". They will waste painful hours of your time to lure you into a terrible investment with shameless high-pressure sales tactics. We took the "tour" in April, and the promise of the future free 2-night stay turned out to be a total sham. They lie like mad. We were promised a free return stay in 6 months. When we called to book it, they told us that deal was no longer offered and that we would be "relocated" to the Days Inn Busch Gardens, a long way away and a vastly inferior single hotel room (a dump really) instead of the Pohwatan or Greensprings. Thank goodness we did not buy a $40,000 time share interest from these thieves! Also, the award certificate for the 2-night free stay is so filled with uber-fine print on the back that nobody mentions during the sales pitches, it expires long before anyone could really use it. The fine print on the back contradicts EVERYTHING we were told by the sales people at the Concierge desk. Shameful. The District Attorney ought to shut them down. So skip the Time Share and enjoy the condo.
  7. Your Database should be updated. This property is located in Fredericksburg North. Your hotel list does not list North and Central areas separately. However, the listed Amenities were: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s)*** (not listed on your Hotwire Hotel List) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Accepted $55 offered price for one night, which was $68 inclusive of $12.80 taxes and fees. Please update your Amenity list on the Hotwire Hotel List for this property. They now list "Restaurant", and your list does not. I don't know if there is a separate restaurant other than the breafast/snack room, but whatever, that's how Hotwire listed it. I'm happy with the result, because the other 2 1/2* and 3* properties along Warrenton Road (Rte 17) in Fredericksburg North, are the Clarion Inn, the Comfort Inn, and the Wyngate. None are as well rated on TripAdvisor etc. as this Holiday Inn Express.
  8. Used betterbidding's HOTWIRE link, put in Cary-Apex Area, and this property was listed on top of the list at $44/night, and with 95% positive ratings with 19 reviews. The reviews were mostly generic, not very helpful, but was encouraged that it received consistently high marks for cleanliness, friendly staff, and very decent free breakfast. Great for morning airport dash. However, I'm a bit confused because the Hotwire listing and my confirm states that there is Free Breakfast, but the TripAdvisor reviews show $8 charge for breakfast buffet. Which is it? Checked this great website for 3* properties in this Zone, and came up with most likely being Wingate (#14/80) and Holiday Inn Express (#6). TripAdvisor rates both properties very well, in top 10, so I went for it. I'm very happy with the result, and am relieved that betterbidding's database was current, since in these less travelled states, compared to N.E. and California, etc., there are less current reviews and results to go by. Relieved that it was spot on this time, as hotwire can be a little cagey in constantly mixing up the Amenity lists. Hotel Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access In-room accessibility Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  9. Can you possibly ID this 3* Hotwire Hotel in Colonial Williamsburg: 8/22/13- 8/26/13; 3 adults $76/night Free parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Indoor Pool(s); High Speed Internet; Accessible Blind, Deaf, Travel, In-Room Accessibility Is this one of the Holiday Inn's or some other unlisted property? Many thanks, Larry
  10. I was looking for the Sonesta ES, since it seems to be about the only property in Atlanta Perimeter market that offers Suites. We're traveling with an adult child, so having a second sleeping room would be a high priority. Nice not to have to buy two rooms @ night! Got the following offering, which lacks "Suites" in amenity list, so almost certainly not the Sonesta, which Hotwire does not offer on any of our nights. 3-star Hotel in Perimeter This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Parking Pet friendly Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking The addition of Pet Friendly makes it a non-match to any of your listed/pinned Hotwire inventory for Perimeter, Atlanta. Could you possibly help determine if this is a match to a known hotel, or a new property on Hotwire? I'm getting pressure "from the top" to book today! Many thanks.
  11. I believe this is a new property for BB. I had posted a question about this Hotwire offering, but not having heard anything back, I went ahead the next evening and booked it. Got the Greensprings Vacation Resort, which is rated 24th out of 81 hotels around Williamsburg, and is also known as the Greensprings Plantation, apparently a time-share Condo complex as well. Reviews are mostly Excellent or Very Good, and given the price of $69/night for a 2 BR Condo on nice grounds with a kitchen, I think the outcome is solid. The only drawback is that it is a 10 minute drive to William & Mary and Historic Williamsburg. However, since we are traveling with our teen daughter to look at William & Mary as out-of-towners, this is a very good spot. She gets her own bedroom, we have some privacy, as well as the option of a quick breakfast in our own little kitchen if we wish. Hotwire described the Amenities as follows: Suite Free Parking 2 Bedroom Suite Indoor pool(s) Children's Activity Program Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Kitchenette Condo
  12. Hi, I'm looking at Hotwire stay in Williamsburg, VA (Colonial Williamsburg) later this month for 2 nights; my wife & I, and our teen daughter. Saw two (2) separate Condo options on Hotwire, but neither seem to match your listed inventory. They are: 1. Williamsburg - Colonial Williamsburg area condo (3.5* $102) This Condo features the following amenities: Free Parking Free Internet 1 Bedroom Suite Fully-equipped Kitchen Indoor pool(s) Air-Conditioning Washer and Dryer in Room Fitness Center Pool(s) Tennis Nearby 2. Williamsburg - Colonial Williamsburg area condo (3* $71) This Condo features the following amenities: Suite Free Parking 2 Bedroom Suite Indoor pool(s) Children's Activity Program Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Kitchenette Condo The latter is a bit confusing, as it lists Suite, but then Condo.... Can you identify either of these properties? I notice that Hotwire does not have guest ratings on either one. At least with a 2 BR Condo, we are assured to have adequate bedding for all 3 of us. On the other hand, for a few more dollars, the $102/1BR Condo may be nicer at 3.5*, as it is rated a "Best Value" by Hotwire, for whatever that may be worth. Any input or advice you might offer would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure you can't follow every little market in the U.S., but I don't see any Condo's listed at all in your Hotwire Inventory for Williamsburg, VA. Thanks a million. Larry
  13. I think you have it right, that the Ramada does not post Laundry, but internet access. Other than that, they're identical. But from a practical user perspective, when you ONLY LIST ONE 2.5* as available Hotwire Inventory, the eye does not train meticulously on a long "laundry list" (no pun intended) of amenities. The amenities were extremely similar, but for the laundry at the end. Unfortunately for us, it was dirty laundry. I suppose when the market (or sub-market) is comparatively rural, and less traveled, one has to view your Pinned List of Hotels with great care and circumspection, as travelers don't often post results in those less traveled destinations. For example, I quickly notice that Hotwire also offers a 2.5* property Charlotte North, and I can not find any mention of this property, or this zone/market in the Hotel List. Another tip off that the lists are incomplete and inaccurate. I'll definitely have to book in the morning when I'm fresh, or hire a college of scholarly monks to review the amenity lists for perfect symmetry, before I book.
  14. I have used your excellent website for more than 10 years I believe. I've never been deceived, until now. Checking your otherwise updated and accurate PINNED LIST of Hotwire Hotels (for NC) I found 2 properties listed for NC - Huntersville - Cornelius (Huntersville - Cornelius): 3* Comfort Suites Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet 2.5* Country Inn and Suites Amenities: Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Business, Laundry As is my practice, I cross referenced the Country Inn & Suites to TripAdvisor's reviews, and found that property to be clean, attractive, and getting overwhelmingly positive/effusive reviews. Hotwire was quoting a property with virtually identical amenities at 2.5* for $43 ($55 with taxes and fees.) Based upon and relying on your inventory list for Huntersville-Cornelius, and seeing no reference to the Ramada Inn or any other 2.5* hotels, I booked my wife and daughter in the Hotwire property you listed: Country in & Suites. As soon as my Visa cleared, I gazed at my screen in horror: Ramada Huntersville at Lake Norman, which is rated second from the bottom in the Area. The reviews posted by the overwhelming number of travelers is strongly negative. The place is run down and filthy, and the management unresponsive. I am appalled beyond words. If it was just myself traveling, I would suck it up. Now I have to answer to my wife and teen daughter on her first college trip. Please tell me I'm wrong and that the Ramada here is not a pit ! You need to keep your data base of hotel inventory up to date. :(
  15. Hotel prices are up this fall in Princeton area. Usual $40-$42 successful Hyatt Princeton bid (last 3-4 years) is no longer accepted. Priceline has re-shuffled the sub-markets and a few properties have dropped from Princeton West, leaving only Hyatt and the Chauncy Conf. Center in the 3.5* class (Hyatt Place at 3* ironically requires higher bids than Regency Class across the road ! Go figure). After reading about successful bids in low-$50's (and wondering why), I tried the usual $40, $41, and $42 bids with no success, and got offer for $60 bid, which I declined. Added Mt.Holly and then Cookstown, for free re-bids, and increased from $50 to $51, both rejected. Accepted at $52, just as the recent posts reflect. Perhaps Princeton East/Monmouth have properties at 3/3.5* level accepting in the 40's..... don't know. There are more hotels grouped in P'ton East now.
  16. Yes, it seems if you bid up around $50 you're liable to get the Marriott in Trenton, which with the overnight parking fees, and distance from P'ton Univ., make it a raw deal, comparatively. Ironically, if you keep bidding around $40, the Hyatt on Alexander Rd. is usually the winner at that price level in the last few months anyways... Also, for graduation weekend, you'll not likely get any scores on PRICELINE, or HOTWIRE, as the hotels mostly sell out and take their rooms off P'line that weekend. I've had good luck with calling the catering manager directly at the Wyndham (former Harrison Conf. Center) and gotten small block of room for my 2 son's graduations in the low 100's/nt, which is way better than any other booking. All the hotels in the area jack their rooms up to near $300/nt (even 2.5*) to soak the alumni crowd and desperate parents!
  17. Bid $38 for 2 rooms, 3.5*, Princeton West, rejected. Added Princeton East (Monmouth Junction) at $40, rejected again. Added Cookstown with $1 more to $41, and got same result us other recent posts: Accepted for 2 room, one night. Used PRICELINE Link. This Board has saved me thousands over the years. Much appreciated. Keep it up people!! Post your results everywhere you travel. :) I can tell you that Hyatt Regency, Princeton, has not been this low in 5 years. Nice hotel, very well located. Short hop to express train to NYC, town of Princeton, Princeton U., and great shopping on Rte. 1. I'm happy. :)
  18. I see Priceline, after 10 years, re-organized the Princeton-Trenton market, to West and East? When will you update your Hotel List for New Jersey to include the hotels located in the new bidding zones? I travel there often and would strongly prefer not to bid into what was once a sub-market near Princeton (within 10 mins of town) and wind up in Trenton !!! Thanks for updating. The Hyatt and Hyatt Place look to be thrown in with the Trenton sub-market. What about the Chauncey Conf. Center which is actually the closest of any Priceline hotel, to Princeton. Is that thrown in with Trenton properties as well? What a bummer all that will be, and a reason to avoid Princeton West altogether. Thanks very much.
  19. I have read that Homewood Suites is no longer on Priceline for Trenton-Princeton Area. You may want to check that and delete your listing of this property under 2* If correct, that only remaining 2* in this zone is the much lesser quality/value Extended Stay America LPines
  20. Location I got: Princeton - Monmouth Junction 4230 Us Route 1 South Brunswick, New Jersey 08852 My luck, it's the lesser of the two. I noticed from the map that it's way north of Princeton. P'line must be bending and stretching they're boundaries in desperation to sign properties. What a drag. I'll definitely use the link!
  21. 2 rooms, one night, 4/11/08-04/12/08, $35/room at Extended Stay America Got it first bid at $35, but I am very very bummed to get the Extended Stay and not nearby Homewood Suites, as before. All the reviews I have read here and elsewhere, and my review of pix on their website, show this place to be little more than a Motel 6 with a kitchenette, which I don't need for a 1 nite stay. Homewood, last time, at the same $35 bid for 1 room back in December, was incredible, top notch, almost luxury, and free dinner, wine, and full hot breakfast buffet. None of that here, and just basic basic basic, and from what I read, not even clean. (A new property though? Puzzling.) Jeesh. I guess I will stick with 3* from now on when I bid into Princeton area. Uggggh. If anyone knows how I can get the Homewood Suites next time, please do tell. I sure wish they would switch to 2.5 stars so I can at least get a shot. :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.26 Total Charges*: $88.26
  22. :) Booked 2 nights, October 4-6, Westin Princeton, only 4 star in this market. Have gotten it before in the middle $60's to $70/nt, but not lately. This is a very nice hotel with awesome beds. Prefer the 5th floor, which has been remodeled. Rack rate is over $200. Scored it on first bid at $80. Might have left a few dollars on the table.
  23. MD, No worries. I stayed at this hotel my last time through P'ton. It was very very nice. The room was 4* in most markets. The hotel was recently renovated, and the common areas are beautiful cobbleston; very tasteful. I did not have time to try the restaurant & other facilities this time, but the bed was as good as the Westin 4* (famous "Westin bed") in P'ton, furnishings & service items top cabin, and the location was close to Rte. 1, yet far off enough to be quiet -- even pastoral. I have stayed in every 3* in and around P'ton available on Priceline, including the Hyatt Regency (off Alexander) the Harrison Conf. Center, and the Chauncey Conf. Center (my personal favorite, but off the beaten path for sure) and the Lakeside is right up there. Again, in most any other market, this would be a 4* property, and I have stayed at 4*'s through P'line that were not as nice. So enjoy, you got a great deal, for sure! P.S. Very thorough bidding history and recap. Thanks! LP :)
