  1. Upon check-in when I asked for a two-bedded room for one of our two reservations through PRICELINE, the receptionist asked me WHO was the room with 2 beds FOR? It was for my elderly mother and another female friend. They conceded with no problem but it was NOT an upgrade and was fairly "tight" and we were not asked to pay anything.
  2. The bidding history for this one nighter started low at $69, adding zones, getting counteroffers continuously which I ignored. The couteroffers ranged and stayed constant from $95-$138, depending on the zones. I had gotten up to $90 in Mayfair/westminster, $85 in Kensington, Bloomsbury, Regents Park. But I also forget to STOP adding Regents Park as I raised my bid, as it is not my favorite zone ( for distance) and unless I was saving a lot.. was not that interested... and in fact.. remembered later that I usually never even bid this area and meant to add Bloomsbury at $87. So.. a long story short.. got carried away, and my second day of bidding I was awarded this hotel which although it sounds very nice, I have really put myself at the end of the city !! I will just deal with it. The cheapest available for those dates as of today is $201.00. o it definitely was a good deal. I don't know why I was in such a hurry to finalize my accommodations on this July trip! My mind MIGHT have been clearer a few days distance from the first day bidding frenzy. Lesson learned, I hope! If anyone knows anyplace REALLy nice nearby for a meal or breakfast, do let me know! I used the PRICELINE link here.
  3. wow. Won this on first bid.. so .. makes you wonder . I am VERY happy with this rate, to say the least. I had reserved at 75E there but then decided.. why not try PRICELINE? Got the same hotel.. what a bargain. I saved $117. Thank you betterbidding and all those who post their winning bids. Without them we would not do nearly as well! Of course I used the PRICELINE link. Hope someone else can cash in on this low rate this summer.
  4. Would you mind telling me what the shuttle situation is at this Marriot now? Thank you!
  5. I have stayed at this hotel and actually enjoyed it and would not mind getting it again. I used the VERY convenient buses instead of the further tube stops. Very nice staff, and our room was pleasant. I have a review here on the hotel review page. Do not fret. Become Hilton Honors member and write the hotel ahead of time about how you are concerned about the bad reviews and hope they will give you appropriate rooms. I think if had paid rack rate I would have a different attitude. But frankly, there was nothing I could complain about. The bus trip goes past so many of the monuments my mom felt like it was getting a tour in and home every day! Good luck.
  6. Other wins for a 4* in that neighborhood have been similar to your win, so luckily, it seems you did not even overbid, in spite of upping the bid as you changed zones. Looks like a nice property. Hope I get this one if I bid this area.
  7. This is an older Marriott, but my room was fine and seemed to have been updated as far as linens were concerned. There was a free computer for guest use, small snack shop, and simple breakfast set up in the morning in the lobby, first floor area. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning. The airport shuttle was approx. every 15 minutes although two came close together the morning I was there. This 3* hotel more than met expectations for the bargain price I got it for. ($32+tax+fees)
  8. Due to a snow storm at EWR I was unable to even GET to Atlanta for my reservation. I telephoned Priceline with my locator number, and they , with no resistance whatsoever, cancelled, at my request, my two-night stay, reimbursing me 100% of my bill. I then re-bid for the one night I would need, and received the same hotel at the same rate. Priceline had also assured me that if I were still not able to get to Atlanta, due to the build up with delayed flights, that they would again reimburse me. The Courtyard South is OK. My room was clean, quiet, and after my flight ordeal, a very welcome sight. The shuttle is every 15 minutes, but the morning I was leaving one came in 5 minutes after the last one. I did not use the food service. Free coffees in the lobby at breakfast. Not the fanciest Courtyard.. and the neighborhood has NOTHING around it..but it served my necessities just fine. The airport is about 3 minutes away, so taking MARTA around was also convenient.
  9. actually my bidding at the end was up to $33, then when I added ATL South I dropped down to $32.. not sure why.. but it worked. I had edited this post but it didn't take.
  10. Started out at $29 for 3*, ATL North and got a $7 counteroffer. Ignored and upped with free bid zones for ATL North up to $32 No additional counteroffers. Added ATL South, kept bid at $32. Accepted at Marriot Courtyard Of course used your PRICELINE link here.
  11. I think it was "request" $22 more as counteroffer.
  12. Hmmmm. Forgot to take notes and got my hotel prices/stars mixed up. First bid $39 for 3.5*. Denied. Then did new bid at 3* also for downtown, and did not change price. Accepted. However, I only had one day to bid on this stay so I would not have been able to bid again without going to a lower star level. I remembered later having seen a winning bid for $32 here. Oh well. Nice enough hotel. Has free parking, free continental breakfast and am now using their internet in lobby. Two queen beds. Reception staff was very very nice at check-in. Their website was $119, but it was about $20 cheaper on another site I saw. HOTWIRE had some hotels for $42 or so... so.. advice.. keep good notes. I used your PRICELINE link, of course.
  13. After bidding in Hudson, WI and Woodbury, Minn to no avail up to $35 for a mere 2 or 2.5 star, I decided to try our luck again downtown Minneapolis for a 4 star and just drive the extra miles the next morning. Got it on the first try at $41. At least there is very cheap all night parking nearby on La Salle ($5 every 12 hours.. and $2 after 4pm!)or if you are an early riser the meters are free from 10 pm til 8 a.m. This was a very nice hotel with a fabulous gym next door and free internet in business room, although it was usually occupied. We are Hyatt Passport holders and were given a very high room with city view last trip. Nice staff and great location. Walk to restaurants. I used your PRICELINE link, of course.
  14. Booked this again for my brother as they liked the hotel the other night. Had tried bidding in Champaign/Urbana around $30 but got nothing so instead of the unknown decided to return to same place. (What we ASSUMED was same place). Amenities: Breakfast, pool, fitness, internet
  15. My bidding strategy was simple and this was fast. Bid 4* Downtown $45...rejected Did new bid 4* MOA...$45...rejected Added downtown and bid $48...accepted The hotel was the Hyatt Regency and I used your link, of course. Best website rate was $189. Parking is $17.
  16. My immediate new bid was 2*, as I had already bid 2.5*,then adding 2* and was rejected both times. I closed the browser and did one new bid with only 2* and was accepted. Yes, it IS a 2* hotel.
  17. I also made another mistake. First bid was 2.5*. There is no 3.5* option. Please correct. Must be the heat!
  18. PLEASE correct winning price in post title. It was $31 Bid 3.5* Eau Claire... $31 Rejected Added free rebid Chippewa.. $35 Rejected Closed browser New bid Eau Claire 2*... $31 Accepted I see it has free breakfast from Monday to Saturday! Not bad! Also free internet. I am happy with this. Just an overnight on way to Minneapolis. Used your PRICELINE link here. I wonder how high I would have had to go for that 2.5*!!! Didn't have time/too impatient to wait the 24 hrs. to rebid 2.5* Hotel website cheapest rate is $72 plus tax or $65 for Senior rate. HOTWIRE has a 2* for $36, a 2.5* for $67 and a 3* for $60.
  19. Thanks. I am happy with the win. It is always a decision to go 3 *or 2.5* because of the free breakfast. Any suggestion for lunch in Devils Lake? Yes, we are going up that way.
  20. Needed one night while on the road. Only wanted Madison West area at beginning due to next day's possible excursion, but would have widened the search had I not been successful. I bid Madison West 3.5* $46..rejected. received counter offer of $13 Added free rebid MSW.. $48 rejected . Added free rebid MS... $49 rejected New bid Dropped to 3*...only M West $41 accepted Cheapest hotel website price with Senior discount was $118 Of course I used the PRICELINE links here Thank you.
  21. Just grabbed this for my brother on his way up North. Amenities were breakfast, pool, internet, fitness Should be OK for a quick stopover. Price is right, that's for sure. The free breakfast made me not even think of Priceline on this one.
