  1. hi Jessie. yeah, i've seen that one show up before. i have no idea what it could possibly be. it seems so sketchy. how can any 3.5* hotel have only a restaurant? no pool, no fitness center, etc. what kind of 3.5* is that? :) sorry i can't help w/ this one. but i really doubt we'll ever figure it out since who the heck would possibly want to actually purchase it? way too sketchy. :)
  2. hi. after doing some research, i highly suspect this 3* that you listed is the Best Western Lake Buena Vista. now if only someone would give it shot so we can confirm it! :)
  3. hi weatherman1948, welcome! you can take a look at the Florida boards to see other's results for WDW bidding (scroll down on the main page). for a list of the Hotwire cities/hotels click here. for a list of the Priceline cities/hotels click here. if you are new to Priceline/Hotwire, and you need any help figuring out how to bid, please do post your questions here! if you'd like someone to help you w/ a bid strategy specifically for WDW, post a new thread on the appropriate Florida board.
  4. hi Jeanneb, glad to see you wrote down the amenities for this one. you've probably guessed correctly, as the Peabody Orlando shows up in the Vacation Package product w/ the exact matching star level and amenities you listed. if you have any other Orlando questions, please feel free to post a new thread in the appropriate Florida forum!
  5. hi Jeanneb, welcome to the boards. :) are you talking about Hotwire? did you mean to post in the Florida board? we'd need amenities to figure out what a hotel might be on Hotwire. did you write those down?
  6. aww... i'm sorry this happened to you. :) unfortunately, i'm not sure if there's anything you can do to fix the situation. did you do some research on this site before going ahead and bidding? i think you also may have started a bit too high for a 4* in Vegas. $121 is usually more than enough to book a regular refundable reservation directly w/ a 4* hotel. also, see this thread: Confusion about Resorts and Free Re-bids where thereuare mentions the hierarchy of star ratings on Priceline. Resort is always higher than a 4*, so on 4* bids, any zone w/ a Resort is NOT a free rebid. this is because when you bid a 4*, you are effectively bidding for a 4* or higher. hey... at least you'll know this for the future! :) good luck.
  7. i think the reason why you're having trouble is because Feb 4-6 is a fairly large convention 15k people according to the Miami Convention Bureau calendar. so i bet a some of the Downtown hotels are sold out or charging high rates. have you tried using the same bidding strategy that thereuare gave you for your other dates? i think chances are, you're going to have to start bidding higher in order to book this 6mos in advance. good luck.
  8. okay, i went ahead and tried the same search. i got the same 4.5* for $130 w/ amenities: Resort, Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa. i always suspected this was the Del, however a weird thing is that when the Del shows up in the Vacation Package Product, it also has one extra amenity that isn't in the Hotel-only results: Beach Access. now maybe Hotwire has edited the amenities to get rid of Beach Access, but the edit is only reflecting in the Hotel-only database??? after all, Beach Access and Beachfront are sort of redundant, aren't they? heh. in any case, only $130 for what could be the Hotel Del?! that's a ridiculously good deal if it is the Del! the problem is, that missing Beach Access amenity is worrying. if you go to Vacation Package and search for the same dates for a Hotel + Car package. you should see what i mean. as for the 4*, the one that's showing up when i do the same search has the following amenities: Beach Access, Oceanfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa i got a quote of $156/night. you didn't mention the Beach Access amenity in your first post. if you double check your search again, and the 4* is showing Beach Access, then i would say that it's likely to be the Loews Coronado. but again, nothing is 100% certain until someone actually takes on the risk and buys the room. :) good luck. :)
  9. hi janhen, just wanted to let you know i replied to your post in the other part of the forum. i'll copy/paste it here: hopefully, when thereuare comes back from vacation, he'll move this thread to the California board for you. anyway, i've been playing around w/ Hotwire for a SD trip myself, and i suspect that the 4* you're asking about could either be the Marriott Coronado or the Loews Coronado. but there is no way to be sure. the Marriott is farther from the beach than the Loews. so the Oceanfront only amenity might mean it's the Marriott. but again, these are just guesses. what were the dates you used to search Hotwire that came up w/ this 4* result? i tried a few dates but wasn't able to reproduce the result you got. you can't really go wrong w/ a 4* hotel on Coronado if it's the right price. how much was it going for? Edit: actually, on second thought, i'm not sure that Marriott even participates on Hotwire. Marriott is not listed under Hotwire's Hotel Partners list. so maybe this is the Loews Coronado after all?

  11. the property was showing up around $92/night for the past week or so. but i was checking rates mostly late at night or in the afternoons. this morning i checked Hotwire again, and noticed that the 2.5* that i suspected was the Dana Inn (based on Vacation package results) had dropped down to a $79/night rate for my dates. so i figured, what the hell, i'll just go for it. we need to be right next to the Paradise Point Resort (would've loved to stay there but never would've been able to afford the $200+ rates), so Dana Inn will work well since it's the closest hotel. anyway, the amenities are as follows: Beach Access, Restaurant, Pool, High-Speed Internet, Tennis, Laundry i am curious to see if the rates will drop even lower as the dates approach. i'm also intrigued by how the rates dropped by $15 this morning. not sure if it's a time-of-day thing or if Dana Inn just lowered their rates effective today. anyway, just another confirmed hotel to add to your list. hope this helps.
