Thanks for your input. I think I agree with your opinion and decided to book it today (after having sorted out some other logistics) but sadly by the time I got up this morning there weren't any of these rooms left so I'm back to the beginning (my own fault!) again...
As per title I'd appreciate thoughts on which hotel this could be.
Amenities: Free breakfast, free internet, fitness, business and in room accessibility.
85% recommended and 4/5 on trip advisor could be good signs (if hotwire has not rounded it up!)
I can't really afford more than $400 for the whole stay (including taxes etc) and this may be a decent option if it's the best western plaza or comfort inn. I'm wary of it being the red roof however!
Or if anyone can help point me towards other possible options I sure would appreciate it! Things that are important to me: Price, cleanliness and location for easy access (not too much walking/cost) to the city - I'd even share a bathroom if i can cut costs or improve quality!
I crossed my fingers and held my breath as I pressed the 'book' button and was pleased when it came up, as we thought, the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort (since that's what I was hoping for!).
Do I need to make a new post with the win? The price by the time I booked it was $106/night and the amenities were as per my original post except without In-room accessibility and Wheelchair accessible (they've changed the layout of their website again since I last looked).

It also has a resort fee of 'around' $20, reckons it's $190 on other sites and is recommended in 95% of hotwire reviews. I'm just not convinced it's one hotel or another so if anyone has some insight I'd appreciate it!

Hotwire is getting tricky with the new zoning and pet friendly amenity but was still able to correctly narrow the hotel down to this and a couple of others and was fine with all of them. Hope this can help other people.
That's 113/night +tax
Amenities were:
Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby
Glad it turned out just as the betterbidding list suggested! Thanks!
Thanks for this. Every day these dates have different pricing and availability. HOTWIRE has now become a form of entertainment for me. Still haven't made a decision to put money down yet but am getting there...
Thanks for your insight. The prices have all been lowered slightly during that period now and I think there's a 3.5* on the mag/mile for $119 which is perhaps the double tree. I'm also considering moving hotels during the trip but to convince the hubby to do so I may have to find hotels in close proximity to one another.
I'm going to mull it over and keep watch on prices for a few days, but if you happen to have spotted a better deal then I'd appreciate your advice!
Love these boards you have here and the list but am having trouble IDing this hotel.
Amenities: Smoke free rooms, Fitness center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed internet, Tennis nearby
I may be having a senior moment but I cant seem to match this one to a name. Would appreciate any help and will, of course, use the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
Thanks
PS First time to Chicago. Picking a hotel has been tricky...!

Thanks for your reply. I'm looking at a couple of options including staying further away, cutting costs on other things and upping my hotel budget but haven't figure it all out yet. I may be back (or on the NJ board) unless I manage to secure a room direct form a hotel.
