  1. To be honest, I don't think it matters. Any idea what hotels are offered??
  2. Any idea what kind of places are available for Martha's Vineyard??? We are looking at July 11 - 13, 3 star or 2 star. Would this be a hotel or an Inn or B&B??
  3. We stayed post cruise, 2 nights 3/14 to 3/16. $102 per night I agree with everything "thereuare" posted above. We were on the 5th floor with a great ocean view! (we were 1 floor higher than "thereuare" and the rooftop wasn't bad, the view of the ocean made up for it). The hotel was fully booked both nights with a convention. The staff was very nice and the conceirge was extremely helpful. They even called the airport for us to see if we could get on an earlier flight because Boston was expecting a Noreaster and we wanted to be sure we got home....I know, crazy. The Caribe also has a spa called "Olas" that is on the property. They offer every kind of body wrap, facial, massage, theraputic whirlpools outside, spa manicures and pedicures with fresh rose pedal baths. It sounded so enticing, unfortunately, I had just pampered myself on the ship. There was also a health conscious breakfast/lunch cafe with outdoor umbrella tables (and fans if it is too hot) where you can get great smoothies, bagels, lox, wraps etc. The pool bar was closed because they were jackhammering the concrete around it. The outdoor restaurant "Atlantis" had great burger, alittle steep at $10 w/fries, but they were really good. One of the nights was very interesting from 7-9, there was a "Casting" of some sort. There were beautiful young girls, with the longest legs I have ever seen, short skirts, high heels, truely gorgeous going through the hotel to the 2nd floor for this casting, the male guests were bumping into the walls!!! Anyway....we had a great time!! Thanks to this sight!!
  4. Thereuare...because I am addicted, I have continued to check my dates on Hotwire 3/14 to 3/16 even though I am completely happen with my purchase of The Caribe. Anyway, the 5* resort with all the amenities shown on your identifiable hotel list has now changed to a 4.5*. When I looked up "vacation packages" on hotwire the El San Juan now shows as a 4.5*.
  5. :) Finally all set!! I book the Caribe through Hotwire. $102 per night. Thank you so much for all your patience and guidance. I brag to everyone about how great this website is. I have read lots of mixed reviews about this hotel, but for that price...as long as it is clean and we can check in at the 3pm check in time we will be thrilled!!!!! I'm also going to sign up for the Hilton Honors, I don't know if they extend the benefits to hotwire customers.
  6. Thereuare......you are right!! haha. I just have trouble making decisions sometimes. Thank you for your patients. Through Savingsbarn.com I bid $65 in san juan for resort level. It came back saying if I would like to up my bid $17 they will accept that. Do you think for ($83) that would possibly be the Condado? I would rather spend the extra for the Caribe. What is the Hotwire room like at the Caribe? View? Balcony?
  7. OMG.....What should I do!!!! :) Finally on Hotwire a 4* hotel for 3/14 to 3/16 $102 I believe is the Caribe. It is listed as customer favorite, beachfront, rest., pools, fitness center, Bus. center, tennis, spa. What do you think? The only difference from the hotel list was that this is a customer favorite. We have a back up hotel at the Courtyard Marriott for an Ocean View w/breakfast for $205. What is the view like on a hotwire room at the Caribe? Thanks
  8. Just back from Montreal for New Years Eve. We got the Hotel on Hotwire for $97 dollars per night. It was a spur of the moment decision, so after I made the purchase I read some not so flattering reviews on tripadvisor. Well, we had a great stay!! The hotel was very nice, CLEAN and the conceirge was fantastic! I liked the location because it was about a 10 min walk to St. Catherine's. The drinking age is 18 so St. Catherines Street was crazy! New Year's Eve we didn't really have any plans, it was fun to just walk around and check things out. People watching was quite comical, to see these young kids dressed in club clothes standing in line that had about 800 people waiting to get into the club without jackets on (and it was FREEZING OUT). We went back to the hotel it was about 11:30, we wanted to have a drink at the bar to ring in the New Year, but it was closed. There was a private New Years Eve party in one of the other Restaurant's in the hotel, when we asked the front desk if there was a place to go just for a drink, they said they could ask the manager in the private party if we could have one there......no problem!! They were fantastic! They set up a table for us by the band with party hats and horns and we ordered a drink!! How nice was that! Canada is very different than the US. A holiday means everything is CLOSED!! :) I was disappointed that I couldn't do shopping because OMG!!! The stores were unbelievable.....and shoes!!!!!! It was difficult finding a restaurant open on New Years Day. We really wanted to go to Milo's but they were closed, so we found Gibby's, very nice, steak, lamb and several kinds of fish. We got the fish and it was delicious. Montreal is a beautiful city, I think we will go back in the summer. I will do more research and make sure the stores will be open :)
  9. I have to say that I am so impressed with all of your fast replies!!! If you don't mind, I'll check back with you? Thanks again for all your help.
  10. thereuare......do you know if the Caribe is available yet for 3/14 to 3/16?
  11. That must explain how we got the Waldorf Astoria in NYC for 2nts for New Years 2001 for $132 per nt!!! It was awesome, and this year the hotels are out of sight for the same time! Thanks.
  12. wow...I have been following Hotwires prices since April or May of this year to monitor the availability for a 2 nt post cruise stay for 3/14-3/16. At that time we weren't sure whether it would be pre or post cruise so I didn't commit to anything. I may not have known about this site at that time either, but I do remember seeing a 4* on the beach for $71-76 (the price would change depending on the day). Now that we know for sure that we want 2nt post on the above dates, I have seen anything above a 3 1/2 *. Today there was a 5* resort that I'm assuming is the El San Juan for $350. I have seen prices for this hotel from $352 and higher on other discount wesites. Why is hotwire so high? Is there anyway of bidding this on Priceline? I have a backup hotel reserved for the Courtyard Marriott, it's in the Isle Verde area which we love because of the beach. Thanks
  13. Oh wow....dirty sheets!! Where do you read these reviews? I think we will try for the Caribe in a couple of months, we'll see what happens.
  14. Oooh, I see. Then maybe I'll wait and check back at the end of December beginning of January. Thanks again!
  15. (whenpigsfly) We stayed at the Water Club this past March for a 2 night post cruise, based on mixed reviews. We absoulutely loved it and found the staff to be extremely accomodating. We also paid full price for the room, so sometimes our expectations are a little higher than if we got it thru priceline or hotwire. (thereuare) Is it still to the best of your knowledge that the Water Club is the only Boutique hotel in San Juan? If so, I would choose boutique and put a bid in of $120 and see what happens? We would really like to avoid staying at the Condado if we can help it, so if we wait, that MAY increase the chances of getting the Caribe? (I understand no guarrantees). Thanks so much!
  16. (thereuare) Is there a way you can check to see if there is availability at the Caribe or the Water Club for 3/14 to 3/16? Or is this still way too soon? Thanks
  17. probably $150 for the Boutique. How does that sound? Also, can you tell if there is inventory for the Resort level hotels for 3/14 to 3/16? I am still trying to make up my mind. My husband definately wants to stay at the Water Club. We both loved the location. We probably have a better chance at getting the Water Club b/c it is a known boutique hotel, right? With the Resort level there are more hotels that are offered and I'm not sure I like all of them. Decisions, decisions.........
  18. "thereuare" We are looking for post hotel stay in san juan as well. I spoke w/you recently on a strategy for the Water Club. Our dates in the mean time have changed since I last ask questions on this board. We are going to do a post cruise 2nt stay, 3/14 to 3/16. Is this too early. We would love the water club but would also be happy with a Resort. What do you think? Thanks for all your great insight!!
  19. Okay, this is probably early but I was thinking of giving it a try. We need a pre and post cruise hotel stay 3/7 and 3/14. Last year we stayed at the Water Club and loved it. I booked it directly through them. This year their rates have gone up quite a bit. Through some research, I have read that the Water Club is the only known boutique hotel in San Juan. Do I choose 4* boutique? Should I add resort in there? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
