  1. A few days ago I tried: San Juan $80 rejected closed browser and added Mayaguez $85 rejected " " " " Dorado $90 rejected Today I tried: San Juan $95 rejected closed browser and added Mayaguez $100 rejected " " " " Dorado $105 rejected As always through Savingsbarn. Do I still have a chance around this price range? I know the last time (about 3 yrs ago same month) we got the Caribe about 1-2 months before. Is that still the pattern on when they release inventory??
  2. I noticed a couple of posts for San Juan Marriott Resort & Casino that were bid on Priceline for next year? Do they really release inventory this early? I'm looking for a post cruise hotel for 3/17/07 1 night and thought it was too early to start bidding. What do you think thereuare? Thanks.
  3. Finally!!!! After lots of combinations and starting at $120 and working up...The Swissotel New York accepted $195. Like I said, I did so many combinations but this was how I won. MTW and UM/CPS bid $190 rejected added re-bid zone bid $195 accepted $235.15 with tax It was alittle more than what I wanted to spend, but I happy with the Hotel and glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. Thanks for your help. I used savingsbarn
  4. I'm trying to bid on a 4* Hotel for midtown. 1 night 4/29. I used a strategy that was posted for someone else because it seemed reasonable to me. Started at $120 adding re-bid zones and ending at $180 trying the 9 different combinations that were posted...all rejected. That was yesterday. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
  5. Okay....I just used the above strategy for 1 night 4/29 to 4/30. REJECTED!! I don't know what to do. I'm spoiled and do not want to pay any more than $217 (that is w/tax) for a 4 star hotel. We are coming from Boston and driving to Stammford, CT. , then taking the Metro to Grand Central. Any ideas on hotels in that area?? Thanks
  6. Select 4* MTE Bid $110 rejected added re-bid zone bid 115 "" "" "" bid 120 "" "" "" closed browser and re-access Select 4* MTW used same strategy as above and won at $120 Sheraton Hotel & Towers 2 rooms at $120 = $240 taxes and fees 47.88 _________ total charges $287.88
  7. 2 rooms is a great idea. I didn't realize I could book 2 rooms at the same time on priceline. Thanks for the strategy. I'll let you know how I make out (thru savingsbarn.com) of course :)
  8. I want to book a hotel for 4 people 1 room. 1/7/06 - 1/08/06. MTC $265. Amenities are Rest, Fitness, Business Center, Customer Favorite. I thought this was the Sheraton Tower Hotel but on the Starwood site I can make a non refundable reservation for $179 (special until 12/9) What do you think? Thanks
  9. Does anyone have a recommendation for a travel insurance company that would give me my money back on a cheap flight ($140) if I were to become to ill to travel? Thanks
  10. We are trying to book a hotel for 4 people in NYC. I checked last week and there was a 4 star (I think it was the Hyatt in MTE) for $199 1/7/06 - 1/8/06. It is gone now and there are no more 4 star hotels avail for those dates. If I do a search for 2 people, there is availibilty for 4 star hotels. Can say that there are only 2 people and then request 2 double beds??
  11. Just want to comment on this post. I won the Waldorf Astoria 3 times on hotwire. It was before I found betterbidding. Nov 2001 (it was the marathon) for $127 per night. Stayed 1 night. Dec 30, 2001 - Jan 1, 2002 for $132 per night. Jan 2003 for $135 per night. Stayed 1 night. I,m pretty sure the amenities were Rest., fitness center and business center. Can you believe those prices!! :)
  12. Wow this is tough!! I increase the amounts this time and still didn't have any luck. Select 5* bid $235 Rejected...add rebid zone bid $250 Rejected...add rebid zone bid $275 REJECTED Select Resort bid $135 Rejected..added rebid zone bid $150 REJECTED Select 4* bid $175 Rejected...add rebid zone bid $200 REJECTED I may have to book something direct. I didn't increase the amounts on the Resort level because I hadn't bid that level on Tuesday. I saw Fiesta Condesa had something for $266 per night on Travelocity, that price is starting to look pretty good. What do you think thereuare?
  13. Oh I see. I will try it all again on Thursday and let you know how I make out. Thanks!
  14. Okay...I understand. I tried 4* Cancun bid $135...rejected....added rebid zone Cozumel $150...rejected closed browser and started again (thru savingsbarn.com). It said that I must wait 72 hours...so I will try on Thurs for a Resort. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!!
  15. Okay. I followed the above on the 5* ......Rejected. I am confused on what my rebid zone is on a 4*. (cozumel and riviera maya do not have a 4*) If I only have one rebid, which one do I choose?
  16. Okay....If we could get a 5* max bid would be $200 For a Resort or 4* max bid would be $150. Suggestion for a bidding stratagy?? (I have checked alot of the hotels on other sites and there are 1 night availability for 12/31/04). So maybe there is a chance. Thanks.
  17. Thereuare.....Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!! She is beautiful!! Is there a place that I can find a list of hotels that are considered Resorts and a list of just 4* Hotels? I believe the 5* hotel is the Le Meridien and the going rate on all the websites is $410 for 1 night (12/31/04). If I have to go with a 4* or Resort level, my max bid would be $150. Thanks.
  18. Hello, We are looking for 1 night stay in Cancun for 12/31/04. I think the 5* is an added catagory. I don't remember seeing it a few months ago. Any idea what hotels it could be?? How high of a bid?? We would be willing to bid as high as $200. Bidding strategy?? Thanks.
  19. Sure....I wasn't sure if that was okay. I glad you asked b/c I'm so excited about it!!!!!!! The resort is called the Royal Islander. There are a few resorts, all next to each other and you can share amenities. (Royal Mayan, Royal Caribbean and I think even the Royal Sands). About 5 years ago, I knew a woman that owned TS and went every year, my friend rented a week from her and couldn't stop talking about how nice and beautiful the resort, pools, beach, resteraunts etc. were. On tripadvisor all the reviews were great. You never find that!! haha We are paying $128 p/nt for 1/1/05 - 1/4/05. And if there is availability for 12/31/04 the price is $246. The room has 1 dbl bed, bath room, refrig, and a balcony (I don't think it is big) overlooking the pool. But it is a 5 Star Resort. Even some of the reviews stressed this point. It also has daily maid service. :)
  20. I just found this amazing deal on a timeshare rental that is supposed to be 5*. It has great reviews on tripadvisor and I also know someone that stayed there (5 yrs ago) and said it was amazing. The only thing was that I could not book this far in advance was 1 night (12/31/04). I have to check back with them on 12/1 and see if they have that night available. If not, we will use priceline and bid for a resort hotel.
  21. "thereuare" As I mentioned before we are looking to travel 12/31 to 1/4. We are all set with airfare. If we were to use priceline to bid on a hotel, is it safe to say that the hotels that show for that date under the Vacation Package are the ones that are available?? Would there be others?? I know you can never say anything for sure, but based on your educated experience :). What would you suggest for a starting bid, and is Mexico like Puerto Rico where the inventory is release about 1 month before your travel date?? Thanks
  22. Wow... That is great information!! When you made your purchase on PL, how far in advance was it?? We want to go for New Years Eve and I'm thinking this will be a busy time seeing that the rates are inflated.
  23. that is great advice. My husband does not drink at all and I could care less if I did. I just thought with all inclusive, I wouldn't have to make any decisions about resteraunts. If I were to bid on Priceline, how do you know if you are bidding for just a hotel or a hotel with an all inclusive plan??
  24. "seningen" is it expensive to eat w/out an all-inclusive plan?? We figure it would cost us about $200 per day for decent food. We are not big drinkers.
  25. "thereuare" when you went to Mexico, did you avoid any foods on the resort due to fear of getting sick??
