  1. The Burbank property is The Clarion Inn-Los Angelas, formerly a Holiday Inn Express. Not a savings though because I could have gotten the same rate online. I had checked this one out on my own due to it being a 15 min. walk to Universal Studios. Hotwire lists Clarion properties as a 2.5 star rating, so listing this as a 3 star is misleading, but it will be fine. The location is great for what we will be doing in Los Angelas. I did use the HOTWIRE link for my purchase.
  2. The Burbank property lists both indoor pool(s)and pool(s). The North Hollywood Property does show accessible path of travel. I may have accidentally deleted these when I deleted the descriptions. The North Hollywood property is now up to $122/night.
  3. Yes, 2 adults, and 2 children in the Burbank area. The next closest zone is Hollywood- Studio City.
  4. Need help ID'ing this 3* Hotwire hotel in Burbank-Universal City for $134:Free Parking Free parking Free Breakfast Indoor pool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Braille or raised signage Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Also, this 3* in North Hollywood-Studio City for $115/night (same nights) Free Internet Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower I'd also appreciate if you can suggest other areas to look at that are close to Universal Studios, I'd appreciate it. It looks like slim pickings at this stage. I used the HOTWIRE link from this website.
  5. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this because I have other legs of the trip to still book. This ended up being the Town & Country Resort. I am very pleased. It looks like a very nice place and we saved $49 per night. $70/night for 3 nights for a total of $249.38 with taxes & fees. I used the HOTWIRE link. Tried to avoid a place with parking and internet fees but this hotel has both. Parking is $14 per day and internet is $8 per day/per device.
  6. What do you think this 3* is in Mission Valley-Hotel Circle for $70/night (same dates as above): Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower I would be fine with the Best Western Seven Seas if this is it. I'm not sure though because the shuttle isn't listed in the amenities.
  7. Thank you for the helpful information. The hotel reviews were up and down, so I am still hunting. I will start a new thread if I have questions on other Hotwire hotels.
  8. Based on what I've read on this forum and using the HOTWIRE link from this forum, I have a likely ID for a 3* San Diego Hotel (Sea World-Mission Bay-Shelter Island) being the Wyndham Garden for $80 per night plus taxes & fees (3 nights) for 2 adults/2 children for 6/13-6/16. These are the amenities: Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Smoke Free Rooms Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower When looking directly at the Hotel's website, the handicap-accessible rooms have full-sized beds, but there are rooms for the same price that have queen-sized beds offered (not handicap accessible), as well. We are traveling with two teenagers and really need queen beds. My question is this -- Since the description lists all of the accessible amenities, does that mean that the Hotwire rooms are typically this type of room vs a standard room? If so, how likely would our chances be of them switching us to a room with queen-sized beds? The difference in Hotwire price vs the hotel website price is $40 including all taxes and fees over a 3 night stay. Even though it's not a lot of money, it would be worth the savings if we were able to get the queen beds. We won't be arriving until around 9pm if that matters. Should I call ahead to request the queen beds? Can you please comment on your experience with this (the Hotwire rooms being the handicap accessible rooms when those amenities are listed). Thanks!
  9. I started bidding at $44 and was rejected up to a bid of $49.00 for a one night stay. At the $49 bid I got an offer to increase my bid by $15 to $63, but I rejected it and bid $51 with a free rebid zone which was accepted. The prices seem a bit higher than usual -- probably because of spring break travelers. I used the PRICELINE link from this website. 3* Radisson Hotel Phoenix Airport North 3/27/11 Accepted Bid: $51 Taxes & fees: $14.63 Total $65.63
  10. I placed my bid tonight trying to get a Huntington or Newport beach hotel. I used free rebid zones based on what is listed on this website. I increased my bids in $3 increments. I ended up getting the Anaheim Hilton for $75 which is very close to Disneyland -- NOT what I wanted. I thought this was a free rebid zone because it didn't list any 4* hotels in this zone (Disneyland/Anaheim). Before bidding, I double-checked recent bids on the board just to make sure nothing in this area popped up as a 4*. Now I'm in the doghouse with my family who wanted a hotel close to the beach after our days at the Disney parks. I'm not a happy camper that the Hilton is now considered a 4* hotel :) but it's listed as a 3.5*! Not only am I now in the wrong zone, I also have to pay extra for parking. Also, the savings is minimal as the regular price for a room here is $99.00 -- certainly not what I thought I'd be saving when bidding on a 4*. I called Priceline's customer service and they were no help at all. Buyer beware!!!! Either I eat the money and find a hotel on my own, or have my family ticked off at me. Please change the Anaheim Hilton to a 4* on your website.
  11. I have been waiting for this hotel for one of the same dates as the OP's preferred dates. So far, no luck. I found that if you change the occupants from 2 adults and 2 children to 4 adults and no children, another 4 star comes up, but it's not the Hyatt. Seeing as this is over the Columbus Day weekend, the dates may be blocked out for Hotwire and Priceline.
  12. I got these mixed up. The bottom one listed is most likely the Newport Hyatt ($109). I don't know abut the top one. Any ideas ($139)?
  13. This one seems to be the Newport Hyatt which has bad reviews. The price is $139. I searched for 2 adults, 2 kids. When I searched for 4 adults and no kids, another 4 * came up with the same amenities as the other 4* I referenced, but also has "airport shuttle" and "tennis nearby" added to the list. The price on this one is $109. Any idea on what this one is?
  14. I checked on Hotwire again today and now there is a 4* listed for Huntington/Newport for October 9th for $139. Could be a good deal and then maybe not, depending on the property. These are the amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurants(s) Business Center High Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby I can't find an exact match on the list of 4* for the area listed on this website. Any idea what this place might be? I'm still considering bidding on priceline if I had a good bidding strategy.
  15. There are no 4* for the area offered on HOTWIRE right now, otherwise I'd go that route. I guess I'll take my chances. I've never had a problem yet getting two beds. I checked the prices on the website and the rooms with two queen beds are less expensive than the rooms with a king bed. It doesn't appear that there are any rooms with only one Queen bed, so we should be fine.
  16. Check in October 9th and check out October 10th. It's only one night, but it's also over the Columbus Day weekend. Max bid amount would be $110.00, but would love to get it for less (obviously). Thanks in advance for your help.
  17. I would love to get Huntington Hyatt Regency for one night for my family for the beach day of our vacation next month. What is the best strategy with free rebids? I understand we may end up with a different hotel. I will use the PRICELINE link from this website when I'm ready to bid. Thanks!
  18. The hotel website says they charge $11 per day for parking. :) Is that common with a 3.5 star hotel? AAA gives it a 4 star rating. Also, I just wanted to clarify if you bid north or south. It looks further south on the map.
  19. $48 on the first try for 6/24/09 - 6/27/09. Used better bidding link. I've heard good things from others who have stayed there. It's been recently renovated.
  20. Used the PRICELINE link from this site to bid on a 2.5 star Santa Fe hotel for one night in the Cerillos Rd area. First bid was $40 -- rejected Free rebid added Plaza area and 3* bid $45.00 -- rejected Last bid $ 47.00 -- accepted I was trying for the Holiday Inn, but this one is fine, too. My accepted bid page said I was "upgraded" to a 3* hotel, but I thought the Courtyard was a 2.5*. PricelineSubtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.45 Total Charges*: $61.45 Compared to online Rate: Subtotal: $99.00 Government taxes & fees: $14.79 Total Charges: $113.79 Savings: $52.34
  21. I may need to return our rental car two days early. I understand that I cannot get a refund on those days. However, I'm wondering if there a fee for returning the car two days early? Would I need to check directly with the rental car agency or is that a priceline issue? Thanks.
  22. I was rejected at trying $12 - $16 for mid-size. $17 was accepted. Avis 17.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 6 days Subtotal: $102.00 Taxes and Fees: $62.43 Total Charges: $164.43
  23. I could not come close to the price you got From Payless. I went ahead and reserved a mid-sized through Advantage for $16 per day which was the best deal I could find. No coupons needed. It came to $64.94 and with taxes/fees the total is $94.93. I only reserved for four days since the other 7 days we'll be staying on-site and can use the Disney transportation. It would have been nice to have a rental for the entire stay, but not at these prices. I'll continue to bid on priceline and see if I can get it for less than that. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky as the date gets closer. Thanks for your help though.
  24. I was going to post the same problem as the OP when I logged in, and then saw this thread. Last year I booked a standard-sized rental via Priceline (from a link at this site) at Orlando MCO for 10 days and got $12 per day. This year I haven't even been able to come close. I'm looking for similar dates again -- 5/29/09 - 6/09/09. I too noticed that when I went to bid, the fees have more than doubled. I can't find my bid from last year, but I'm pretty certain that with taxes and fees, a 10 day rental mid-sized rental came out to $163.00. Even if I won a bid at 12 per day, it now comes out to $236.00 I have one extra rental day added this year, but sheesh! That's a big difference even without the added rental car price increase. So with the economy being in the tank, why the big increase in the bidding prices and the fees doubling? You'd think the rental car companies would be giving good deals with less people traveling & booking rental cars. I'm really disappointed in the big price difference and the fee increase. I may go ahead and book through Payless as well and then see if I can beat that price. OP, was there a coupon code through Payless to get that price, and does Payless have a pick-up location at the airport?
