i want to be near the td waterhouse garden or at least on the transit line to get there (but i will be returning late at night). i would like to stay below $125 a night and a 3 star or higher. i know asking for a lot, but i've gotten some remarkable deals via priceline, and hoping to score another.

yes, that was me. bring a new one to boston (and chicago). is the hyatt via priceline or some other way. and not driving, flying from texas and not renting a car. will take advantage of a good transit system unlike what we have in houston. and thereuare, the dates are 11/17 through 11/20.

first time to boston and am going to an event at the td banknorth garden and have no clue which zone to bid for. any help would be appreciated. want to be close to the garden, but willing to take transit to there. thanks.

Looking for a 3* in Tampa for 11/4 for 1 night in the Downtown/Westshore area. Initial bid was $50 and rejected. Any suggestions on what to bid next? Thanks.

Since I saw others getting the Hyatt Harborside for $50, I was thinking that sounded good to me. But after checking hotel.com, Expedia and Travelocity for that day; maybe I will have to go to around $100.

Heading to the NE to see the leaves change in Vermont, but starting and finishing in Boston. Get in late on 10/7 and leave bright and early 10/11. Need help with bidding on 10/7 and 10/10. I am going to a wedding with the reception at the Downtown Omni in June. Trying to decide if I should go ahead and go for the 4* and hope for the Omni. Is $50 to much to start with so far ahead? Thanks.

$65 wasn't accepted, they countered with adding $17. Tried to put in $70 and it wouldn't take. Will try Friday. :)

Just found out a friend bid $60 and was countered with $77 which she took and got the Wyndham Garden. I know there is a trick to countering somewhere on here. I'd appreciate any help. BTW, I'll be bidding thru SavingsBarn.com :)

I am going to Shea for the Springsteen concert that night, and have an early flight in the morning. I bid $67 this morning for the 3* and was rejected. Would be willing to go 2.5* too. I noticed that prices on Hotels.com started at $115 for the Wyndham Garden which I think is a 2.5*, and works for me. Just need to know what to bid.

I stayed there last year for $120 and they were quoting $260 for people who walked in. Nice, little boutique hotel within walking distance of Central Park. Didn't get any surcharges.

Worse hotel I have stayed in in years. There is no air conditioning, which might not matter if you could open window. But since we faced HWY 1, we could hear the street noise with the windows closed, imagine how bad it would have been with windows open. Plus it rained that night, and didn't want to deal with the damp night air. Also, no elevator to our second floor room. The bus boy took our luggage up, but had to "bump" it down when leaving. And then there is the resort fee of $10.00 - highway robbery. You get a $5 food certificate and you can take the water bottles. Still don't like the idea, just raise the rate if you want to charge more. After I complained when I checked out, they did give me 2 free breakfasts; which did help; but unfortunately my dad says that is what he will remember the most about the trip - a nice hotel with no air conditioning.

Great hotel. Enjoyed the stay. The staff was very helpful and couldn't have been nicer.

I am having no luck with San Simeon. I have booked a room with AAA for $86. According to Priceline the average price is $169 for a 2*. My last bid was $75, and rejected. Won't go much higher because it almost be what I am already getting. Cambria does not come up on Priceline, and actually the hotels are more there.

Need to amend my post. I actually got the Mariott in SOMA for $64. It was originally 50 + 14. Sorry, my bad. :)

I had been bidding the SOMA zone most of the time for the 3*. Actually they wouldn't let me bid USE once I bid and got rejected for SOMA. So SOMA was where I bid the $60 for a 3* and they suggested I up my bid $14 to $74, I did and got a 4* at the Marriott.

I got nowhere bidding on 3*s for SOMA or USE for 8/16, went up to 60 when Priceline suggested I up my bid to $74 which I did and ended up with a 4* the Mariott. Great price for a 4*, but I wonder what happened to all the 3*.

I bid $40 for a 2 1/2 * and got the Hyatt Regency Monterrey, an upgrade to a 3*. :) Got turned down for my San Francisco 3* SOMA and USE both for $40. :)
