  1. Will do. My max is at $190. FYI, Mira Hotel and Langham Place rates are just on low $200s.
  2. Just an update... I'm now bidding at $170 a night for a 5* room but I still can't get it.
  3. Great idea pmuppet. You know what? I will also try to bid for the Renaissance at $85/night. That sounds like a good deal. Update us if you get a sound deal on your trip to Seoul in October.
  4. Yeah, it looks like it. The lowest rate on hotel's website is at $241 on the duration of your stay.
  5. Cosmopolitan Hotel is only at $95. Maybe a max of $100-120 on TST or WHKI except for the Cosmopolitan Hotel. lol I'm okay with Central Kowloon too. I hope I won't fall into a trap by winning a lousy 4* hotel. Any guidance or wisdom you may have on how to make a strategic bidding?
  6. If that's the case, I think I will just settle with a 4* hotel then. Any advice as to how much do I need to bid for a start? I'm very much aware that the rate of Cosmopolitan Hotel in Wan Chai is only less than $100. Any suggestion from the experts here are muchly appreciated. Thank you.
  7. If I settle with a 4* hotel, can you please advise as to how much do I need to bid as a start?
  8. I initially wanted to have a max of $125 but I know it's highly unlikely to get a room at that price so I decided to increase it to $140 and now I'm already bidding up to $160. Thanks for the note. I think I have to remember your piece of advice. I so wanted to stay in a nice hotel but then it's just my first time bidding in Priceline and it's taking a toll on myself. I hope I can get something at $130, that will possibly be the best deal ever. Do you think something like that is possible in Hong Kong?
  9. hopecookies, totally... yes, misery loves company! lol i've seen a post of yours today. hope you can get it. keep us updated too.
  10. Updating you guys.. My bid is now up to $168 but still failed to get any room. I still haven't won any Priceline bidding ever. So disappointing. lol
  11. These are the best rates on the internet now (based on Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz & Agoda) InterContinental Grand Seoul - $244 The Ritz-Carlton, Seoul - $284 The Shilla Seoul - $256 Grand Ambassador Seoul - $188 InterContinental Coex Seoul - $218 Renaissance Seoul Hotel - $265 PARK HYATT SEOUL - $323 Fraser Place Central Seoul - $171 Lotte Hotel Seoul - $234 Grand Hyatt Seoul - $232 Millennium Seoul Hilton hotel - $255 Grand Hilton Seoul hotel - $184 Sheraton Grande Walkerhill - $178 If you think $105 is not a good enough bid, I'm open to any suggestion especially from the expert. :)
  12. Thanks Romelle. I'm sure you have a lot of bidding experience so yeah, I really appreciate the kind assistance. Appreciate the support rom a fellow member. Sounds good. I'll take it easy coz I have enough time to do the bid anyways, right? I think more likely the max which I feel comfortable is at $175 but that will be if I can't get a room til the last month. Otherwise, I'll stay patient and continue bidding in the $130-150 range and see if I can get any. Yes, I will continue to follow the bidding strategy suggested by thereuare. I tried to do my part in researching but I feel like bidding in Priceline is still the way to get the best deal. Don't you agree? I'm actually hesitant to try a 4* hotel coz what always win is the Cosmopolitan in West HK which I don't find a good thing. Please let me know if you think otherwise. Ok, thanks for the advice as to the airfare. I think I'm going to look and based it on my preferred travel dates of Nov 16-20, 2011. Wow, I don't think I can manage doing it the same day of my arrival. I actually wanted 3-4months allowance that's why I'm trying to do it now but then I think I will be ok within a month or two of wait. Will update you again soon. Thanks, I will definitely use the PRICELINE link given on this page.
  13. It seems like not much are happening in Seoul on October neither in Hong Kong on November for it's doesn't show any in the Calendar of Wins.
  14. Hi, I am looking for a 5* hotel in Seoul for travel on 10/24-10/28. I've already tried to bid up to $105 but got rejected anyway. Any advice? Thank you.
  15. Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I was having a hard time thinking how come I still don't get any when I'm already bidding close to $150 especially knowing that I can book a room in Langham Place anytime at the $200 rate. Little did I know until you said those words. Do you encourage me bidding every other day for the same amount? My max would probably be at $180 but do I only do that in the end (a month or 2 months before my said travel dates)? If I can't still get any room at that point, I think I'm going to go crazy. lol Please advise on what is a good step to take. Do I wait a little while? I hope I can get a 5* room at around $120-140 range so I'll feel good about winning. Fyi, this is only my 1st time bidding in Priceline. Thanks Romelle.
  16. Reporting my updates.. Still rejected at $148 :)
  17. Please.. Anyone? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  18. I'm looking at other third party sites and found out the following rates for my travel to Hong Kong on Nov 16-20, 2011. 5* Hotels (based on Expedia, Orbitz & Hotels.com) Royal Plaza Hotel (Mongkok) - $125 Luxe Manor (TST) - $175 Royal Garden Hotel (Kowloon) - $196 Hotel Icon (TST) - $198 Harbour Grand Kowloon (Kowloon) - $202 Langham Place (Mongkok) - $207 Hotel Nikko (TST) - $218 IC Grand Stanford (TST) - $234 Are any of the hotels above possibly included in Priceline list? I have made a bid of $140 but coudn't get any as of yet. Should I increase my bid and make it higher? If I do that, what could be the hotel(s) that I can possibly get? Will it be something better than the one I've listed above? Any idea?
  19. I will continue to bid higher til I get a 5* room in either TST or WHKI. I just post a question in the Hotwire forum coz I'm thinking maybe it's also a good deal. But I'm leaning more on doing it via Priceline. My initial max was at $125 for the reason that I saw couple of posts said that they have Conrad Hotel in WHKI at a max bid of $110 earlier this year so I thought I might get the same deal too. I increased it to $140 thinking of the same thing. But as what I've said earlier, I'm going to bid higher until I get it. I just don't want to overypay for something I can get at a lower price you know.
