  1. Warning......Please see the review before bidding this zone! I have bid and won this zone many times and have always gotten the Marriott or Doubletree.
  2. This hotel should be avoided, and is pitifully rated at *3 in the Central/NW omaha zone. Booked at the last minute on 8-8 for an 8-9 stay. $60. Many problems with this property. Very old and desperate for a renovation. I have stayed in *1 that were better. Put in the back corner of the property near the outside mechanical area. Exterior door trim rusted nearly through, weeds growing in the concrete, spray paint on the concrete (from maintence spray painting something) Litter and cigarette butts everywhere. Interior hallways dark and corners filled with cobwebs. Corner plaster off exposing the metal corner guards. Stained hallway carpet. Room was very small. No closet, but a wardrobe with a door we couldn't open because it hit the nightstand. Desk with a chair that wouldn't fit under it or roll out because it hit the bed. Furniture was particle board "put it together yourself" type. Security latch falling out of doorframe. The only power available was a powerstrip laying on the floor beside the bed. Lamps were old with the finish worn off. Bathroom- cigarette burn in the cheap countertop. Bathtub plug hardware missing (no bath) Rusted sink hardware. I called priceline immediately and explained nicely the problems with the 8* rating. I was transferred and the other person called the hotel manager while I waited. He said he would not refund but offered a free breakfast (no thanks) Then I received a bill under the door the next AM. Hmmmm, rate was $54 plus tax and it wasn't my credit card number. Pricelines perhaps? I emailed priceline again when we got home and begged them to take this hotel off the *3 list. I explained that it wipes out the whole Central/NW omaha bidding. I told them to look at the reviews on tripadvisor.com as confirmation of my complaints. I explained I took photos if they would like to see them. I got an email the next day from someone else at priceline who called the manager again and agreed to refund our money. I still really just wanted them to remove them, as I'd like to be able to bid on this zone. I was told I could call and see if they do remove it.
  3. Wanted to get another room for another couple (got ours a month ago for $60 ( see previous post) There is also a Marriot in this zone, but after checking via internet and phone they had no rooms available so was relatively sure of no surprises. Rate of 144.00 Bid $60 West zone, got a counteroffer of 17.00 Added Airport zone @ $65, got the "wait 15 minutes screen" Accepted at Sheraton. I tried the add a night feature on my previous room, but realized I had won it over 30 days ago. I was positive I could get another room for $65 as I was trying only an hour later. No such luck, weird. Will try again tomorrow and if unsuccessful try for a different hotel in different zone.
  4. Wanted to update on this hotel win. The party was not granted a room with 2 beds and also were told that a rollaway was not available. They didn't think the hotel looked full to capacity. I'd be careful about bidding 4 star in Minneapolis if I needed more than one bed.
  5. Nobody's home at TOBB, nothing is getting answered. There is a post and reply that says they've been gone 5 weeks so don't waste your time by filling out a bidding request form, it will go unanswered. The better board wins!!!! sorry, I had to throw that in :)
  6. Not that one either. I'm using the Norton commercial version. And don't know what the host is, so I doubt it. Can you send the link in a PM on this site? I'll send you an email addy PM also. Thanks thereuare.
  7. I can't open the link with either IE or Firefox.
  8. Advice from everyone please. I'd like to meet up with my sisiters in las Vegas. I've been before but a long time ago. Dates look like 9-18/9-22. Airfare is 198.00 RT from FSD. Her convention is at Madalay Bay so would like to be close. Should I try priceline, book a package, or book hotel conventionally. I see the Luxor, Tropicana, Excalibur, New York New York, Monticarlo and Bellagio and Alladin are close. suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  9. Stayed for 2 nights June 30th at a priceline win of $60. Top of the line hotel. We arrived about 12:30 and a room wasn't ready. I presented my hilton honors card and we asked if we could get an upgrade. (hoping for executive floor) He gave us the Honors floor just below. The executive floors are keyed entry from the elevators only. He thought he could get us in a room in an hour and a half. They gladly stored our bags and we walked Nicolette mall. The hotel is attached to the IDS tower with great shopping right in the building. Starbucks, Godiva, Gap, Photofinishing, etc. It is in the middle of downtown, 2 blks from the light rail. We walked back from the Metrodome after the twins game. They offer self park for 17.00 per day or valet for 22.00. The entrance was tricky the first time so we opted for the valet. There is a valet and doorman. The service was impeccable. Our room was ready when promised and was fantastic! Very large! Great new trendy decor, beautiful furnishings, huge desk with internet access (for a fee, but it's free in the business center) even a shoe polish machine. Snacks, mini bar and coffee pot. 2 small free bottles of water a day. Bathrobe, fluffy towels. Updated bathroom with a "real" bath rug. Upscale toiletries including mouthwash. We had trouble sliding the shower doors so reported it when we left for the day shopping. There was a message on our phone that said it would be taken care of, and they were fixed already when we got back. No pool or hot tub, but can use the YMCA. There is a great fitness room however. We didn't try the restaurant or bar. We've stayed at the DT Hyatt and in comparison, the rooms and the location were superior. The only thing it lacked was surrounding grounds. Not even a bench to sit on outside the building. An added bonus (if you call it that) was that Alice Cooper was staying there and we saw him board his bus. :) I really hope I get this hotel again!
  10. Prices via websites: Marriott-179.00 Sheraton-119.00 Bid $50 on west area, offered counter offer of 14.00 added Merle Hay area @ $55, rejected added Airport area @ $60, accepted at Sheraton Bid through savingsbarn.
  11. Priceline has a 4* in their non-opaque listing. The Graves 601. Suppose it will ever become a name your price hotel?
  12. Bid this for a friend today. Very glad to see the Sofitel again! $35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 with rebids. The best rate was non-refundable/changeable 79.99 (cheap) but still saved about $15.
  13. Success today, I love the 24 hr rule! Started at $35, 41, 50,55, and 60 was accepted. I got the Marquette. I'm not familiar with this hotel, but noticed trip advisor has them as the #1 downtown hotel, very cool! Used savingsbarn of course.
  14. Got the Millenium a month ago. No luck this time. Availability in all downtown except the Hyatt. Had plenty of rebids so tried DT @35.00, added Maplewood @ 45.00, added Coon rapids @ 50, and added Fridley @ 51.00. Will try again, maybe got rejected because I lowballed the first bid? Is that possible?
  15. Started with downtown at 35.00, added Coon Rapids @ 42.00, added Burnsville @ 45.00, added Fridley @ 50.00 accepted. Used Savingsbarn.com
  16. Fringe, There is no quarantee with Priceline (the name your own price version) that you will get a specific hotel. You can request a specific bed type, but that also is not guaranteed. If you want a certain hotel you should book conventionally. Use the travel links link on this page, it helps support this great site.
  17. It's been a while since I visited priceline. I can't find the zone map of the city I want (although I think there is only one. Mankato MN) Where did they hid the zone map?? I just got the dumb non-opaque screen and when I clicked name your own price there was no map either. Thanks in advance.
  18. This was my first time staying in downtown Omaha. Close to the Old Market area of shopping. 16th and Dodge. Quite a distance to all three malls in Omaha, but an easy drive along Dodge. Parking ramp attached to hotel (although outside entry) $6 per day. Easy checkin, was already assigned a double nonsmoking. Restaurant was adequate, didn't use the bar or room service. Pool (warm) and sauna, no hot tub. Room had sweet dreams beds. Down mattress toppers and blanket, 4 down pillows on each bed. I had to ask for traditional pillows as I'm allergic to down and they were delivered promptly. Furniture was dated but adequate with 2 chairs and small table. Internet access was $9.95 per day. Cable in closet. Had 2 sinks (one outside the bathroom) which worked great for us. Walls are very thick, but we had an unusual situation. Heard partying next door about 2 am, but were able to get back to sleep. Second night was a different story. The halls were filled with college age kids partying and all dressed up for a special occasion. Long story short they ended up moving the few of us left on the floor that weren't with the college group. We weren't thrilled about packing everything up at 10 pm and moving, but were told just to take what we needed to sleep and return to the original room the next morning. Security was on the floor and were honest enough to say it wasn't going to get any better as there were just too many of them. Everyone was very apologetic. The second room was completely different. No sweet dreams beds, but new furniture, one sink, wierd. It was a good value for $45, but due to the location being far from what we wanted to do, will probably stay in the NW area again next time.
  19. No, I didn't know there was such a thing. Can you tell me more?
  20. Maybe someone can help me here. I'm starting to research a college graduation gift for our son. I would like to purchase 2 airline tickets, one for him and one for a friend. Is it possible to buy a ticket for a yet to be determined person? I don't want to spoil the surprise and ask him who he wants to take, but I can't imagine I can buy a ticket this way. I'll choose a city where his beloved Braves are playing or a ballpark he would love to visit. A apologize in advance if this is a ridiculous question. :)
