  1. Darn it. The martinis were going to be on me at Tyler Florence's Wayfare Tavern.
  2. You can get the Clift on Lastminutetravel.com for $107/nite.
  3. It appears that the California Street cable car line will be undergoing maintenance through June 19. Motor coaches will be used as substitures.
  4. If daughter is willing to accept USE/USW and something as far away as FW, then why not throw Financial District/Embarcadero into the mix. Someone recently posted winning Le Meridien for your dates at $95/nite, and it is quite a nice hotel. You might get lucky and win the Omni. If you're bidding in the US areas, you have to accept any hotel you win, and one of those might be the Clift. It is currently going for $99/nite on Lastminutetravel.com. They are also offering the Hyatt Embarcadero for $112/nilte. Regardless of the bonus cash, you still have time on your side vis-a-vis bidding on Priceline. Good luck.
  5. KreGg, You're trying awfully hard and hopefully will have success, possibly raising your max a bit at whatever star level you're looking for. If it were me, I would book the 3* Holiday Inn Golden Gateway on Lastminutetravel.com for $75/nite, noting it is cancelable for a $25 fee up to 7 days before checkin. There is also choice for number of beds. The hotel is located at one of the California Street cable car terminus (sp), and near a Whole Foods Market, Ruth's Chris, House of Prime Rib, Tommy's Joynt, Swan Oyster Depot and many others. Good luck.
  6. Nothing special about the Hyatt, but other options available. For the OP's current January dates, Lastminutetravel.com has the Clift for $107/nite. Close enough to public transportation or a short walk to it.
  7. The Omni is going for $143 on their web site.
  8. Lastminutetravel.com has the Whitcomb for $61/nite.
  9. The 3* appears to be the Comfort Suites Downtown Seattle Center. You can do the "Birds Eye" view on the LMT map to see the general area, or use Tripadvisor and map the property.
  10. Just for reference, Lastminutetravel.com has the Hotel Roosevelt for $90/nite. Location looks good and reviews on Tripadvisor are reasonable.
  11. Just for research sake, Lastminutetravel.com has the Hyatt Regency for $95/nite, the Clift for $124/nite, and the Westin St. Francis for $125/nite. It appears you should be able to get a bid accepted for $100 or less on PRICELINE. Good luck.
  12. Rates seem somewhat high, but I would advise adding the Financial District/ Embarcadero as a bidding zone. The Omni's rate of $220 seems low enough something might be available in the low to mid $100s. I'm somewhat biased and stay exclusively at the Omni San Francisco when we go to the City. Otherwise, the only reasonable rate I've found is the 3* Whitcomb on Lastminutetravel.com for $90/nite. Good luck.
  13. From my experience, the wine tasting is nightly, not just on weekends. $12-$15/bottle for wine is high end for us, and have always enjoyed the Solamar...not Solarmar...experience. In some locations they offer local beer, which is a diversion from the wine.
  14. Are you looking to stay in the airport area (SFO) or downtown San Francisco?
  15. Not sure why Thereuare censored my reply, but try clearing out the cookies on your computer and try again.
  16. Dates??? Most of the 4*+ hotels in the Gaslamp area will charge for parking. I know the Omni and Solamar do, but not sure about the Hilton Bayfront, which is not the same as the Hilton Gaslamp. According to the hotel list, the current HOTWIRE 4.5* offering looks like Se' San Diego. If you go to the next page on HOTWIRE, there should be a box near the bottom of the page notifying of things like age at check in, resort fees, parking fees, and the like.
  17. Sorry to be so flippant (sp), but just start bidding roughly 24 hours after your last session. If you are not out of the 24 hour window, PRICELINE will tell you. Then wait a while and try again.
  18. Just for reference, Hotwire has a 4* in the Gaslamp area for $113/nite, Lastminutetravel.com has the Hilton Bayfront for $97/nite, and Expedia Unpublished Rate has a 4* in Gaslamp area for $119/nite.
  19. I understand the OP is aiming for USE, but I would book via Lastminutetravel.com a cancellable backup, starting with the Clift for $112/nite, the Hyatt Embarcadero for $124/nite, or the Hilton Union Square for $140/nite while I continue bidding. There is a cancellation fee of $25 up to 7 days before checkin.
  20. Lastminutetravel.com has the Clift for $149/nite and available.
  21. What rock you been hiding under Gallus50???? Starbucks has been free everywhere since the last 3 or so months. The last time I got Le Meridien in the Financial District, and not wanting to pay for internet access, I was able to connect up to the signal from Club Quarters. Would one consider it stealing??? Maybe, but that's another thread.
  22. Not sure how or when the term "dummy" made it into the Priceline vernacular, but what they actually mean is Free Rebid Zones. The FAQ's go into detail about the process, but here it is in a nutshell. In a particular city, there are zones that have hotels rated up 4* in some zones but not all of them. If you are bidding for a hotel, in your case San Francisco and want a hotel in the Union Square East zone, after your first bid for 4* in that zone, you can add another zone that does not have any 4* hotels, say Fishermans Wharf, and bid again. You should always check for your Free Rebid Zones every time before a bidding session beause one never knows if Priceline has added a new 4* hotel to a particular zone. Right now there are 5 Rebid Zones in San Francisco that can be used for 4* bidding and depending on how many zones are acceptable for 4* hotels, you can have quite a few bids and rebids.
