  1. Doing some Christmas shopping early this year. Booked this stay a few days ago, and can't remember if I went via the HOTWIRE link on this site. Maybe Thereheis can let me know if I did or not. Rate is managable for me. Cheapest on Omni website is advance purchase/nonrefundable for $143, or web rate of $169. Omni's Select Guest program is being revamped. We're now classified as Platinum which adds more benefits. Top level will be Black with even more bennies. Amenities...Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet. To distinguish it from Le Meridien, currently Omni has 400+ TA reviews, and Le Meridien has 220+. Thanks, and apologize if I I didn't use HOTWIRE link.
  2. Decided to extend our Portland trip by flying down to San Francisco and spend the day/night there before heading home to Santa Fe. Started bidding at $85 in Embarcadero. Got counter to add $22. Added rebid zone and bid $89. Total with taxes/fees...$110. Hotwire had 4* for $139 before taxes/fees. Cheapest on Westin web site quoting $219...$250 with taxes/fees. Bid through PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks
  3. Just for the heck of it, decided to check out San Diego for this July weekend. Saw the Kimpton $81/nite deal, but having stayed there twice the last two trips, my wife wanted to try something different. Decided to check out Hotwire and found the Omni...figured it out by the Tripadvisor ratings. Total for two nites w/taxes and fees...$249.00. Amenities: Fitness center, Business center, High speed internet, Restaurant, Pool. Used the HOTWIRE link on this web site. Thanks.
  4. mnl, Looks like they have availability at some of the San Francisco Kimptons, but only when I selected 2 adults. Maybe you can call and get them to work with you for the first night and the two younguns. Good luck.
  5. I probably jumped a little soon, but still saved some $$$ and I'll be closer to Tadich Grill, not that the Omni is that far away. I was thinking of maybe waiting and see if the Huntington came up to try something different, but the Embarcadero area is closer to bars, restaurants, and a short walk to North Beach for morning cappucino. I'll be sure to check out Expedia and Travelzoo and see how much more $$$ I could have saved. Will probably do another trip in December so there's hope. Cheers.
  6. Was thinking I was going to get the Omni as I was used to see Le Meridien as a 4.5*, but looks like it is a 4* now. Amenities: Business center, fitness center, Internet, Restaurant. Total for two nights w/taxes and fees...$291.67. Used HOTWIRE link on this site. Thanks.
  7. Might as well book on Hilton website for same $103 rate, or $93 on HOTWIRE.
  8. Started bidding a week or so ago at $80 and worked my way up to $99. At $95 got counter to add $22. Refused and upped bid a buck at a time until accepted at $99 for 2 nites. Last rejected bid was $98. It appears HOTWIRE has this property for $119. Total with taxes/fees...$237.39. The Driskill website quoting w/taxes...$550.00. If the hotel is as good as it's bar, we did good. Used PRICELINE link on Betterbidding.com. Thanks.
  9. Tagging along with my wife to a seminar for DDW (Digestive Disease Week). The Avenue Hotel is just on the other side of Michigan Avenue so she can catch the shuttle bus at the Omni. Much cheaper deal than what DDW is offering. Tried bidding PRICELINE up to $189, but this location won us over. HOTWIRE had this at $209, hotel website has it at $309. Amenities: Smoke free, restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, high speed internet, tennis nearby. Used HOTWIRE link on Better Bidding. Thanks
  10. Not sure when it started, but noticed on Expedia rates as low as $120/nite at the Fairmont.
  11. Details, details. Amenities showing Fitness Center, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, Business Center.
  12. Booked for a friend to overlap my Priceline stay at Hilton Financial District. Might have to switch with him, Know what I mean BEAV? Omni web site quoting $229. Booked via HOTWIRE link on this website.
  13. I have had no problem bidding as far as six months out. I believe I get as good a deal as those that bid just weeks away. And don't forget Hotwire.
  14. My only complaint about the Hilton, is they charge to use the fitness center. The good news is the stop for the airport express bus...$.75 from the airport to downtown...is a block or two away from the Hilton, and right outside the Hilton to the airport. Can't beat that deal.
  15. Had bid to $89 last week. Started today at $60...offered counter to add $17. Continued bidding til accepted at $66. Last rejected bid was $65. Total with taxes/fees...$157.54. Starwood web site quoting $149/nite....$355.26 total with taxes/fees.
  16. Adding a night to our December weekend trip....first two nights at Omni via HOTWIRE...so decided to bid on PRICELINE. Started at $60 and worked up to $75 and got the Hyatt Embarcadero. Last failed bid was $70. Total with taxes/fees $93.45. Hyatt web site quoting $159/nite....total $181.39. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks.
  17. Not my best deal, but what the hey. Started bidding at $104, rejected...$106 and $107 rejected. Hit at $108. Total with taxes and fees for 2 nights...$256.56. Booking from Hilton website would be $350.00. Used PRICELINE link on this website. Thanks.
  18. Expedia is having a 24 hour sale today. Checked out San Francisco Fairmont for December...$110/nite...63% off. Check your city for deals.
  19. Just checking Expedia for future and found Hotel Monaco on sale. $369/nite rooms going for $113. Checked December and March.
  20. While looking at Anaheim Disneyland area, Priceline has upgraded many of the 3 stars to 3 1/2 stars.
  21. New zone configuration for Priceline San Francisco. Embarcadero is now a separate zone....USE is now separate....SOMA and Moscone are a separate zone. Good news for those trying to avoid Westin St. Francis.
  22. Flying is cheap in California via Southwest, so adding a night to our Anaheim/Disneyland trip to spend a night in San Francisco. At $129 got counter to add $22...declined. Bid up to $139 and rejected. Started new bid at $139...also rejected. Bid $145 and accepted. Total with taxes/fees...$174. Marriott web site quoting $249...$284 with taxes/fees. Used PRICELINE link on BetterBidding website.
  23. Hilton or Hyatt??? Must be the Hyatt, because I don't think the Hilton is in the downtown zone.
  24. Familiarize yourself with the FAQ's, especially those dealing with free rebids. It always helps to post some of the rates from the 4* hotels in the USE/USW areas, as well as checking Hotwire.
