  1. Hoping to duplicate last weekends stay at Courtyard Downtown and got this property. Looks good with free breakfast, and with the decent public transportation in Portland not a problem. Started bidding at $38, and after a few days accepted at $43. Best price on Marriott website...$129/nite. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks.
  2. Easyclicktravel.com is offering a couple of 3* hotels in the Union Square/Nob Hill area in the $60 range. Check out the reviews on Tripadvisor.com. Good luck.
  3. Going to do a little jet setting and heading to San Francisco after our weekend trip to Austin. Bid 4* in Financial District/Embarcadero...denied, but countered to add $22. Added rebid zone and bid $96...denied. Rebid again and bid $97...accepted. Best rate on Hyatt website is $203. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks
  4. It also appears Lastminutetravel.com has the Hyatt for $207. Hyatt website shows no availability.
  5. Decided to stop in Austin on our way back from WDW. The only available 4* in the downtown area was the Hilton for $289/nite. Lastminutetravel.com had a 4* for $156 which looked to be the Omni, so I booked it. It was the Omni, and the cheapest on their website was $560. The Austin Film Festival covers this weekend which is why hotels seem to be hard to come by. Hotwire has a 4* Downtown for $209, but not sure which hotel it is.
  6. The Austin Film Festival covers the OP's dates and most 4*s downtown are booked, with the exception of the Hilton for $289/nite. Lastminutetravel.com has a 4* downtown for $123...not sure which one it is, and another which I booked today for the 24th for $156, which I deduced was the Omni. The cheapest rate on the Omni website is $560/nite. Good luck.
  7. Thereuare, Please be advised, that the link to Lastminutetravel.com in the Support/Travel Links section is not working. SteveR
  8. Lastminutetravel.com has a 4* in the Financial District/Ferry Building area for $137/nite. Not sure how their 4*s rate with Priceline 4*s. They also have 3*s in the US areas for around $100. Good luck.
  9. HOTWIRE has a 4* in USW for $89/nite before taxes and fees. So you should be able to undercut that with PRICELINE. Good luck.
  10. Bid $95...rejected, $105...rejected, $108...accepted. Hotwire has a 4* which appears to be same hotel for $129. Intercontinental website quoting $182/nite. Used PRICELINE link on this site.
  11. Hotwire has a 4* downtown for the two nights at $125 +/-. Started bidding at $85 and worked my way up to $102. Last failed bid was $97. Lowest rate on their website is $169. Location leaves a lot to be desired, but the positive reviews should make up for it. We're used to public transportation anyway...a 24 hour day pass is $1.50. Looks the Dillo passes right in front of Hotel. Didn't realize it was a game weekend for UT. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks.
  12. Opted for 3* for this trip. Started bidding at $40...rejected. Bid $43...accepted. Marriott website quoting 99/nite. Accessed PRICELINE via link on this site. Thanks.
  13. My mistake, but still not a decent win via PRICELINE. Other properties are much nicer. Not sure what the fascination is with the Union Square area is....too busy and bustling for me.
  14. The 4 hotels that come up in the Embarcadero/Financial District zone...Omni, Le Meridien, Hilton Financial District, and the Hyatt Embarcadero are fairly close together. I usually pick this area over USW/Nob Hill to avoid the Westin Saint Francis.I'm not a fan of the place. The Marriott, Westin Market, and Intercontinental are all far superior to the St. Francis. That being said, we'll be staying at the Omni this weekend, and Le Meridien next month. Good luck.
  15. Don't ignore the Embarcadero area. Two of the best hotels, Le Meridien and the Omni are in this zone, and it is walking accessible to North Beach and China Town. HOTWIRE currently has what appears to be Le Meridien for $99/nite. Don't forget the Muni pass, which can be purchased for 1,3,or 7 days and allows unlimited use of city busses, cable cars, F-line trolleys. A 3 day pass goes for $18/person. We usually pay for it the first couple hours we are there, seeing as a single cable car ride is $5 a pop. My recommendation for the best seafood restaurant is Tadich Grill on California, and Tosca is a decent bar in Norh Beach. Good luck.
  16. Though not cast in stone, you can usually get a bid accepted for half the counter offer or less. With all the rebid zones in Portland you could have just rebid a buck or two at a time after their counter offer. You'll know for next time. Just for reference, Hotwire has a 4* downtown for $129 for your dates. I just mention that because you can sometimes get a feel for what Priceline will accept by knowing what's available elsewhere. Good luck.
  17. Saw the Westin on Hotwire going for $85, so thought I would try Priceline. Accepted on first bid. Westin website quoting $199/nite. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks
  18. Sorry for the delay, got this a few weeks ago for next weekend. Started bidding at $70 with $5 bonus cash. Countered to increase bid by $22...declined and rebid $72 with $5 bonus cash...accepted. Hyatt website quoting $139/nite for this property. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks.
  19. Just for reference, Hotwire has a 3.5* in USE which appears to be the Sir Francis Drake for $78/nite or $346 for the whole stay. You could probably bid less on Priceline and get something similar in the same area for less. Good luck.
  20. Needed to add a nite to our weekend stay, and saw a 4* offering for the Intercontinental which would have been acceptable, but decided to book after my workout. Checked about an hour later, and TA ratings and review numbers pointed to the Omni. Best on their website is $169/nite. Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet. Used HOTWIRE link on this site. Get to use my new Select Guest Platinum for this stay. Thanks.
  21. Rates seem a little high for your dates. Hotwire has a 4* in the Nob Hill area for $99/nite that appears to be the Mark Hopkins, but the hotel website is quoting $109/nite. Their 4* offerings in USE and USW seem a little high. You still have time to bid, and using the free rebids will give you multiple bidding opportunities per session. Good luck.
  22. Took advantage of last weeks Southwest sale and booked a weekend trip to Phoenix for above dates. Gambled hoping to get something in the Biltmore area. Bid $45 and Priceline countered to increase bid by $13. Rebid at $47 and accepted. Total with taxes/fees....$60. Hilton website quoting $127 w/taxes and fees. Looks like parking is $6/day. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks
