  1. The Omni chain has always honored our Select Guest status and we occassionally get complimentary upgrades to Premier rooms or as for our last stay in Austin an upgrade to their Club floor....evening free happy hour with munchies and free breakfast. If they know you are coming for a birthday or anniversary, they'll probably throw a bottle of wine your way.
  2. Considering the best rate on the Omni website is $245, you got a great deal GeorgeSD. Don't forget to sign up for Omni's Select Guest program before you go and have your Select Guest number put on your reservation. Say hi to Danny and Joy at the bar.
  3. Heading down to "The City" after a couple of days in Portland. HOTWIRE was switching between the Hotels.com offering of Hilton Financial District and this one. Had Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5.0 and also a note that HOTWIRE was "still gathering reviews for this property". Best nonrefundable rate on Omni website is $160. Best refundable rate is $189. Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet. Used HOTWIRE link on this site.
  4. Not really sure how many bookings you need to have. I was surprised when I received a card in the mail notifying me, as I didn't think I had booked that many stays with them. I may have had a dozen or so.
  5. Related to the Austin situation, I called to comment on my displeasure with getting a hotel so far from downtown. and the rep I talked to said that being a Hotwire Express member, if I found another Hotwire offering they would rebook the new hotel....knowing that I might get the same hotel I originally purchased. A couple weeks later, I saw the Omni was being offered, so I called and they made the change at the current price of the Omni. Paid a couple more $$$, but got what I want. Cheapest isn't always best.
  6. BEAV, You're a Hotwire Express member, if I recall correctly. I called a couple months ago about some othe issue, and the Hotwire Express rep mentioned that I could block properties that I had previously won on HOTWIRE. Seeing that the only other property I scored in the Emarcadero area was Le Meridien, I chose to block it. It obviously didn't work, but HOTWIRE made it right. On another note, even though I didn't post it because I didn't use the link on this site, HOTWIRE allowed me to change my recent Austin stay....where I had accepted the 4* Downtown, Mansion at Judges Hill, to something else if I found something more amenable to my preferences. When I saw that the Omni was available, I called and they changed my reservatiion from the Mansions to the Omni. HOTWIRE seems to be working with us, and I'm willing to spend a few more $$$ to get what I want. Happy bidding BEAV. Slruud
  7. How many $$$$. Agree with BEAV, could be either one...but if Hotwire rating is 95% it's the Omni...90% Le Meridien. Good luck.
  8. Colfax, The interesting thing about it is, you can only block a hotel you have booked on Hotwire previously, which means I will still get the Hilton and Hyatt offerings. As long as they show the Tripadvisor ratings, I can usually figure them out. After looking at the whole confirmation from Hotwire, they booked the Omni via Hotels.com which is where the $140+ rate came from. They just credited the difference so I wasn't out any more $$$. All in all, they seem to be upping their service to Hotwire Express members. I seem to be using Hotwire more than Priceline these days Slruud
  9. Booked Via HOTWIRE and received Le Meridien for $99/nite. As a Hotwire Express member, I had Hotwire block Le Meridien from my searches and bookings a couple of months ago. Called Hotwire Express and they agreed that I should not have been given Le Meridien as an option so they cancelled that reservation, and rebooked the Omni for the same rate, even though their rate for the Omni was $140+. Both Omni and Le Meridien have the same amenities....resaurant, business center, fitness center, and internet and both have Tripadvisor ratings of 4.5/5.0. Accessed HOTWIRE via link on this website.
  10. Mikol K, You can book the 3.5* Portland Marriott City Center via the Marriott website for $99/nite for your date. It's a pretty nice place centrally located. Expedia has the Westin for $119/nite for 3 adults, again centrally located. Just offering some options.
  11. The amenities match what is in the HOTWIRE hotel list for the Huntington, but it would mean it has been upgraded to 4.5* from 4*. Very possible....but could be another hotel as yet not reported. Good luck.
  12. I may not have phrased it correctly, but I didn't see a price in your original post. When I put in your dates the 4* Embarcadero hotel comes up as $129/nite. Not unusual, and if I try my other laptop, I may get another price.
  13. If it is the one priced as $129, my experience tells me it's the Hyatt. The Tripadvisor rating also points to the Hyatt. The Hilton usually has a SPA icon which this offeing does not. The Meridien and Omni have Tripadvisor ratings of 4.5/5.0, so I would lean to the Hyatt. Anyone else have any thoughts???
  14. Found this deal on Lastminutetravel.com. Solamar website quoting $279/nite. Best 4* offering on Hotwire for Gaslamp/Convention Center is $169. If I see successful bids on Priceline for same weekend, can cancel LMT booking for $25.
  15. Checking Hotwire for a future trip, 12/16 - 1218, there is a 3* with the amenities matching Harbor Court, and matching 4.5 Tripadvisor rating. I guess it's just as possible to be downgraded as well as upgraded. Hopefully the OP will end the suspense.
  16. It came up on HOTWIRE in the past year, when someone asked for an ID. I posted it could be the Vitale, but alas they never posted back. Might have to check it out myself sometime in the future.
  17. Any possibility it could be the Hotel Vitale???? Harbor Court rates for these dates are less than what HOTWIRE is offering.
  18. Hey BEAV...cheapest on Le Meridien website is $159/nite, so good savings. Does Starwood have double back guarantee? A shame this section is way down here.....don't think many people make it down this far. I know I didn't. Maybe WHEREHEIS will let us post in the appropriate city section. Looking forward to our March San Francisco trip...wanting to try House of Prime Rib on Van Ness. Looks good. Happy booking BEAV.
  19. Always checking rates for nights I've already booked. Checked Hotwire for my March 26-28 trip and the offering for Embarcadero for $99/nite is grayed out. Clicking it reveals Le Meridien provided by Hotels.com. Never seen this before and wondering if it's something new. Maybe something for BEAV to look at.

    San Francisco

Spot checked weekends through end of March and Expedia still offering Le Meridien in San Francisco for $99/nite. Might have to plan to meet BEAV in the city for a drink or two.
  21. Want to avoid possibility of icy roads from Santa Fe to Albuquerque tomorrow morning so bid for Airport zone. First bid accepted at $40....bummer. Expedia quoting $67, and hotel website quoting $79. You can leave your car parked here for free for three weeks. Used PRICELINE link on this site.
  22. I realize that one can probably bid for and get a 4* in downtown Portland for about the same price, but Expedia is offeing the Portland Courtyard City Center for $69/nite for weekends and slightly higher for weekdays. Stayed there my last trip and a great location, quiet, and new.
  23. Stroll up the street towards Broadway a couple or three blocks to Brian's 24 for a great extensive 24 hour menu. Need to get ready for Fred's to open and have a KA margarilta. Also, almost across the street from the Solamar is Donavon's, a high end steak house. During happy hour they serve complimentary prime rib sandwiches as well as drink specials. Have fun.
