  1. Looking for some bidding help for NYC-Downtown/Soho area. Looking for 3* or 4* and my budget is about $110/night. Is this budget unrealistic? I found that the Holiday Inn Downtown is currently offering $184/night for my nights so I'm thinking it's not completely out of reach? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
  2. Well ended up rebidding at $125, and got a $142 counter offer. Added Soho area as my "free" rebid at $130 and got the Crowne Plaza - The City: Hotel Name: Crowne Plaza London The City 19 New Bridge Street London, United Kingdom 44-870-4009190 Your Offer Price: US$130.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: US$260.00 Taxes and Service Fees: US$55.86 Total Charges: US$315.86
  3. I have tried bidding $110 for London (The City-London Bridge) to get the Hilton London Bridge again for the dates of 08/03/07-08/05/07, however have not been successful. First bid of $110 and received a counter offer of $141. So I added Soho area to get a free rebid at $120 (as they are not normally this cheap) and received another counter offer of $141. What do you think I should do now? Rebid after 24 hours for $125? Interestingly I saw that someone else was successful at $110 for the dates of 08/02/07-08/04/07 and I checked on the Hilton website, it appears there is cheap rate availability on all my dates. Any help is appreciated.
  4. Hotel Name: Hilton London Tower Bridge Check-In Date: Thursday, July 19, 2007 Check-Out Date: Monday, July 23, 2007 Your Offer Price: US$110.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: US$440.00 Taxes and Service Fees: US$89.91 Total Charges: US$529.91
  5. I realised when submitting a bid, the following disclaimer is made: So Priceline will probably get out of refunding the amount by using this clause. I don't think I'll bother following up with Priceline.
  6. Yes I got a receipt and will send an email to priceline HK. I'll see where it gets me....
  7. Well I just got back from this stay, and I was charged EUR 3.30 per night for the city tax. Since this is supposed to be 5%, I assume it means that Priceline paid EUR 66 per night to the hotel?
  8. Just got back from this stay and the folio said GBP35/night which I think is what Priceline pays for this hotel.
  9. Unfortunately on the Priceline HK site, the guarantee is quite restrictive: So you can't match it against all websites globally.
  10. Could I ask the OP, initially you thought you had been given a Venezia room. Was this on the booking on the website after you conpleted booking, or did you get this information onl by calling up Hotwire? If it was on the booking page after completing booking, I'm surprised they used the $179 rate as it says on the Hotwire website "Within 48 hours of booking, if you find a lower price for an equivalent room type for the length of your stay, in the same hotel, and on the same dates, we'll give you double the difference!"
  11. Hotel Name: Thistle Marble Arch Bryanston Street Marble Arch London, England W1A 4UR United Kingdom 44 20 7629 8040 Zone: Bloomsbury - Marble Arch Your Offer Price: HK$470 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: HK$470 Taxes: HK$82.25 Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: HK$627.25 After a bit of an absence, (see this priceline win) looks like this hotel is putting their stock back on Priceline. This was my first bid, and I was successful.
  12. Can I ask approximately what day you were successful with bidding this? Was it today?
  13. Successful bid on HK Priceline for HK$470 per night. Bid was won on 11 November 2005.
  14. Well actually I successfully bid in November 2005 for Feb 1 to Feb 5 4* London Marble Arch and got the Thistle Marble Arch for HK$470/night (about $60). I'm trying to add a night as I'm arriving a day earlier. I'm going to add this win from a while ago as a separate post.
  15. I've bid up to $58 for this area for 01/31/06 as well looking for the Thistle Marble Arch, and it's a no show. I wonder if they've pulled out of Priceline?
  16. Hotel Name: Amsterdam Marriott Hotel Stadhoudmrskade 12 Amsterdam, Noord-holland 1054 ES Netherlands 31 20 6075555 Zone: City Centre and Museum Quarter Your Offer Price: HK$685 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: HK$1370 Taxes: HK$82.2 Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: HK$1527.2 Quite happy with this win. Incidentally, I looked up my reservation on marriott.com and this note is in the booking: "PRICELINE.COM * Deluxe Room (1 King or 2 Double beds), Room only exclusive of 5 pct city tax to be paid at the hotel. PN 22739" Does this mean I'm going to be charged extra at the hotel? Is this standard for Amsterdam Priceline wins?
  17. Hotel Name: Renaissance Brussels Hotel Rue Du Parnasse 19 Brussels, Bruxelles B 1050 Belgium 32 2 5052929 Your Offer Price: HK$490 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: HK$1470 Taxes: HK$88.2 Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: HK$1633.2 Started bidding at HK$340 and incremented by $50 each bid. Quite happy with this as the best price found for this on websites was total EUR 359 which is a total of approx HK$3276.
  18. Well I got greedy and even though I had a cancellable reservation at Art'Otel Berlin for EUR 73 per night incl tax, I was hoping to get the Berlin Marriott. Unfortunately this is what I got: Hotel Name: Ramada Plaza Berlin Prager Strasse 12 Berlin, Berlin 10779 Germany 49-30-236250 Zone: Tiergarten - Kufuerstendamm Your Offer Price: HK$670 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: HK$2010 Taxes: HK$321.6 Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: HK$2406.6 I started bidding at HK$420 and incremented by HK$50 each time. I could have booked directly with the hotel at EUR 89 incl tax which would have been a total of approximately HK$2457. I should have stuck to my original reservation which is in a better location.
  19. FWIW I also tried bidding Berlin - Tiergarten 4* as follows hoping to get the Marriott: $420 $470 $520 $570 $620 (in HKD) Nothing! Don't know what's going on in Berlin at this time? Hotel rates don't suggest anything huge during this period.
  20. Tried bidding via the Priceline HK website for these dates in Berlin East as follows: $365 $415 $465 $515 ---> USD 67 ---> EUR 57 I stopped at this stage as I found a rate of EUR 72 incl. tax on www.hrs.com for the Art'Otel Berlin Mitte. What's even better is that the Art'Otel website has a rate of EUR 109 with a best rate guarantee to match the lower rate with a further 25% discount. So I've booked on the Art'otel website and am waiting to receive confirmation they will honour their guarantee. I was hoping to get the Westin Grand and would be willing to bid higher if I was to get the Westin, but I was worried that I would end up paying a high price for the Art'otel, or worse, the Park Plaza.
  21. Sorry to dig this thread up again, but I was wondering if anyone had any more information as to whether the Park Plaza/Best Western comes up in Cologne?
  22. So which hotel did you get in the end? Venetian? And when you say "Hotwire countered with $150" did you mean that Priceline countered the price? THEHotel at Mandalay Bay is going for $169 on 24th at Hotels.com so you might want to book there for your last night.
  23. I wanted to confirm....with EasyClickTravel, if you get an "off the record" hotel, you can cancel it? I couldn't find any details on their website about this. There is a general cancellation policy, but nothing that refers specifically to off the record hotels.
  24. Has anyone seen Mirage come up on Easyclicktravel or hotwire? Know what the description is?
