  1. My first bid of $45 on Priceline for 3* in Monterey-Pacific Grove area was rejected. Increased the bid to $55 and included the Carmel Valley Zone, which does not have a 3* category. Bid was accepted for the Monterey Hilton. In the past, I have ended up with a succesful bid for the Hyatt Monterey, which we like. Hopefully the Hilton is a comparable property.
  2. I'm tying to figure out what two 5* San Francisco hotels are that are coming up in my search for Dec 5, 6. From the information provided in the site, I believe that one of the 5* hotels is the Omni, located in the Downtown-Embarcadero Area, with Restaurant, Fitness Ctr, Internet Access and Business Ctr as attributes. The second 5* hotel that I am having difficulty identyfying is in the Downtown - Union Square East zone, with only Restaurant and Fitness Center as attributes. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Absolutely!! The fact that Embassy Suites also includes complimentary full breakfast and an evening happy hour (2 hrs actually) really does make this deal hard to beat. And the hotel is very nice too....the rooms are not super fancy, but they are large 2 room suites that can easily accomodate a family of 4.
  4. Bid on Priceline on a 4* for San Francisco Airport for 10/27. Initial bid was $40, which was rejected. Increased the bid by $5.00 increments, and $50 was accepted. Price on Expedia for this same date was between $129 and $144, depending on view (bay). Room: $50.00 Tax/Fees: $12.90 Total: $62.90
  5. Thanks much for the tip on counteroffers. I had not read about this in the bidding tips section, but I will certainly try this approach the next time I get a counteroffer from Priceline! Every little bit helps!
  6. Booked the 4* Embasssy Suites on Anza Blvd. in Burlingame, CA, (San Francisco Airport) on Priceline for $60. My original bid was $48, but I was asked to increase bid by $12 in order to secure reservation.
  7. I booked a one night stay for 9/18 at the Omni Hotel in San Francisco for $98. With an additional $20 in fees/taxes, the total came to $118. I believe the Omni comes up as a 5* in Hotwire - Customer Favorite, Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business Ctr. For the same date, this hotel was priced at $144 in Hotwire, before taxes/fees. Using Expedia, for this same date, the Omni rate is $209.
  8. The Hyatt Regency Monterey appears in Hotwire as a 3* with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Center, Golf, Tennis. This is a good choice for the price on a weekend night, especially for families. It's right off of Route 1, a short drive to downtown Monterey, Carmel and Pacific Grove. The hotel rooms and common areas are nice, but the rooms are starting to show some signs of wear and could use some updating. I have definitely stayed in much nicer Hyatt hotels. But the location is beautiful right on Del Monte Golf Course. Nice sports bar with lots of TV's, pool tables, darts, etc. Helpful concierge for booking local activities.
