  1. Okay Better Bidding people...Just happily booked a Priceline Express deal for The Peabody in Memphis at $124 a night. Total for 6 nights approx. $916 including resort fees. On the hotel website, same exact room would have cost $1792! I was almost going to pick the 2.5 star Comfort Inn Downtown, but for an extra $24 per person (I'm splitting costs with a friend), I thought the upgrade was worth it...though I lose the free breakfast at the Comfort Inn. Anyway, thanks for this site which helped me with my research and picking the right hotel for me! Of course, I clicked on the PRICELINE link on the website. : )
  2. Love this site! Got a great deal again! Thanks to all posters. For this research, the hotwire hotel list on better bidding was key in helping me figure out that the 4* on HOTWIRE was possibly the Sheraton. Thanks again to all!!!! Check-in Fri, Jan 14, 2011, 3:00 PM Check-out Sat, Jan 15, 2011, 11:00 AM Amenities Resort Beachfront Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Children's Activity Program
  3. Got it on my 1st offer of $70. 2 nights April 2 - April 4 $70 per night $169.12 total Thanks for the boards help as always.
  4. Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: PricePerNight:$73.00 No Of Nights: 4 No Of Rooms:1 Subtotal::$292.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$47.88 Total price:$339.88 Arriving Nov 27, 09 Departing Dec 1, 09 Amenities See description Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access Thanks for the info on this board to help me choose a hotel for my trip...and yes, I used the HOTWIRE links on the website : )
  5. I agree that it's match for the Hilton, but did you notice that tripadvisor has it down as a 3*?? Do you think it was a HOTWIRE error for a rating or did tripadvisor recently downgrade the hotel?
  6. hi all, Just got a bid accepted from Priceline to stay at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Houston from March 6th - March 10th. First bid at $60 and was denied, but my 2nd attempt was accepted. Sooooooo happy since hotel online price averages $245 a night! Thanks to all who post here to help out with my research and subsequent win. bjc
  7. This was a pleasant surprise. I first bid $100 hoping for the Hyatt Century Plaza but was denied. Logged in later and just put in $130 hoping for the Mondrian and got The Beverly Hilton. Dates of stay are: Jan. 25 - Jan. 30. Thanks for the info. on this board...
  8. hi all, I was just researching for my continued quest for a hotel in Beverly Hills area (hoping for the Sofitel if you read my earlier posts) and noticed that Hotwire now has Beverly Hills - West Hollywood as a zone and Century City - Westwood as another. Previously, they had Beverly Hills - West Hollywood - Century City as a zone together. Having said that, I noticed someone recently won the Sofitel for a March booking and she described that win with the 3 cities still all together in a zone... Most 4* Beverly Hills - West Hollywood - Century City wins I've seen go to the Hyatt Century Plaza. Do you think this re-zoning affects that? The 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood description is fitness center, pool, and high speed internet service.....any thoughts as to which one it is? I'm trying to book a stay between Jan. 22nd to Jan. 25th... Colfax, I have made a note of the Residence Inn and have it as my plan B...thanks for that suggestion! Reason i'm trying for the Sofitel is that my gf is coming down with me and I'm trying to make it convenient for her to visit at Cedars Sinai where I will be.... bjc
  9. my plan at this point is to check hotwire everyday like you said. another thought i had was to ask the manager at sofitel if they would consider matching the $150+ a night that i've seen won on priceline....the reason for the visit to L.A. is for a surgery at Cedars Sinai which is walking distance from that hotel, so...not for fun or vacation. what do you think?
  10. thanks. i did some research and figured that out. i'm trying to get the Sofitel for this trip.... can you help me with my strategy to try to get the Sofitel? i've noticed that if i bid low (under $135) i would end up with the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. But i noticed that the winning bid of $150 or up on priceline (via the calendar of wins) shows that i may get either the Sofitel or the Mondrian. I've actually won the Mondrian recently back in Nov. Of course, this is using the Beverly Hills-West Hollywood as the area of choice. any help regarding this plan is appreciated. thanks!
  11. hi, i see a hotwire hotel 4* (beverly hills/westwood/century city) similar to this one with the same tripadvisor ratings, but only thing different is golf nearby instead of spa services. its offered at $163. do you think its still the sofitel? i plugged in check in of Jan 22 - until 25th. 4.0 out of 5 Based on 180+ customer reviews (Last reviewed November 2008) thanks in advance...bjc
  12. there was some logistics stuff involved in this stay. you know, i read another thread about someone's complaint about their hotwire experience and what other posters said in defense of hotwire. i learned from it and figured out that as much i want to argue the semantics of the name of the city attached to the hotel versus their "zone map," that you are right,....the hotel was in the boundaries. i will just have to be more careful next time. there was a different scenario in this particular stay compared to other stays i've had in other cities....i guess ordinarily the hotel offered would have been okay. i just felt that i was focusing on "Burnaby/Coquitlam" so much that when i got a HI Express Vancouver....i thought i needed to say something. well, if it helps the next person..... thanks for the info. on this board! i appreciate it.....peace.
  13. no. i followed instructions on post #4 in this thread and put in 2 adults and 2 children to get the HI Express Vancouver. The one you mentioned with those 2 amenities i think is in New Westminster ...i figured it out via another thread on this message board though it was not a confirmed buy. it had those 2 amenities listed...
  14. thereuare, thanks for being on top of this message board. it's been really helpful. so i called Hotwire and asked to cancel my reservation due to the fact that the hotel is listed as Vancouver...even though it happens to be within the shaded area of their zone. (I'm going to be looking close at the edges of these zones in the future!) i talked to a customer service rep who told me that it was in the zone and i couldn't cancel it. i asked to speak to a supervisor and told them of the "bigger picture" here, which is listing a hotel called Holiday Inn Express VAncouver in a Burnaby/Coquitlam listing. Well, he didn't budge and he wouldn't cancel....he agreed to write it up to let upper management be aware. Any thoughts on my putting a dispute on my credit card about this one? thanks for the help... ~bjc
  15. Help! Help! As you can see from the thread, i was hoping for a hotel near Metrotown and hoped for the Holiday Inn Express. I got the right hotel alright..., but the wrong area! Do you think I can make the case that the hotel i won was not in Burnaby/Coquitlam, but rather in Vancouver??? here are the details of the win: Holiday Inn Express 11/24 - 11/25 $66 plus $16.20 = 86.20 total Hotel - NoOfRooms:1 room , NoOfNights:1 night Holiday Inn Express Vancouver, BC 2889 East Hastings Street Vancouver, British Columbia V5K 2A1 Canada (604) 254-1000 Should i call Hotwire? Or should i ask the hotel to see if i can stay in their other property??? thanks in advance, bjc
  16. okay. i replied to that email. any info please? hoping to book today...thanks, bjc
  17. hi all, can someone help me sort out which hotel this is? hotwire has it offered at $66 a night...amenites are business center and fitness center. it says that one of their suppliers for 3* incude the Holiday Inn....could it be the Holiday Inn Express? i need to be close to MetroTown and Burnaby General Hospital which is why i'm hoping it's the Holiday Inn. Just planning to stay for 1 night...Nov. 24th. Thanks. hope you can help me out soon since my stay is coming up fast! ~thanks, bjc
  18. Just to clarify...the only reason i was preferring the Sofitel was because of location. I wanted to be closer to the Beverly Center. But, I had a great stay at the Mondrian and thought the hotel was great! Room was modern and the shower was cool. Pics on the website is how the room looked with the cool TV. SkyBar and the fabulous restaurant that was onsite was also key. I would definitely recommend to stay there....
  19. Sorry about that! Stay at the Mondrian was Nov. 4th - Nov. 6th. It was my first time using Priceline and this website and people's previous posts totally helped! Thanks all!
  20. hi all, I'm planning to go to Vegas on 12/05 - 12/07 and want to try for Planet Hollywood. I'm noticing that it's either listed as South Strip or Center Strip. Can you help clarify this before i finalize plans? At this time, i'm thinking of making a bid at priceline....unless you all have other suggestions? Oh, and i was trying to shoot for a price of under $90 based on the past winning bids. Sound reasonable? thanks! ~bjc
  21. hi all, just bid on 4* in Beverly Hills for $150 and got the Mondrian. thanks to the previous posters...i was hoping for the Sofitel, but oh well.... ~bjc
