  1. Using the HOTWIRE link here at BB got the Sutton Place for $113 for 1 night. Not as low as I'd hoped but I've seen bed and breakfasts asking for more $$ in central TO so I'm pleased. Amenities showing were gym, restaurant, business center, internet, spa
  2. Thanks for mentioning the PRICELINE bonus... I just snagged by 50 bucks!
  3. There are no hotels showing for Nice... I'm looking at a 3.5 star with internet and restaurant. Any ideas? Thanks!
  4. 2 things come to mind if you really are worried... international phone rates really are peanuts these days at under 5 cents a minute for most calls so why not go ahead and call if it will allay any worries? Moevenpick also have a toll free 800 number... I would think they could confirm your reservation. We stayed at the hotel 3 years ago and enjoyed it very much. Have fun! Rob
  5. If you're concerned about exchange rates when bidding just open http://xe.com and have it handy...
  6. I've been watching the InterContinental as well for an upcoming trip. The only way you can be 'pretty sure' of getting it is using HOTWIRE as it's the only known 5* HOTWIRE in the Mayfair/ Soho zone. As the Admin has noted, with PL you could get a different hotel. The price I'm seeing for my dates in July is $184. This is higher than your target but when you consider 50 bucks a night extra and the hotel's own site starts at $500 a night you are still getting a great deal especially for London!
  7. It's almost certainly the Pullman Eiffel Tower (formerly Hilton) at the corner of Ave Suffren and Rue Jean Rey. The hotel is showing it's age and needs a refurb. I understand both the heat and A/C no longer work properly.... in April you should be okay. Rooms are slightly larger than the Paris norm... we had a cot for our teenage daughter and the 3 of us still had room to walk around the room. You can't do that in many Paris hotel rooms! We stayed for a week in the summer of 2008 and luckily it never got too hot. We found the location fine as there is a metro at Bir Hakeim just around the corner and the RER runs along the river not far from the hotel. And of course, the Eiffel Tower is close enough to touch. I'd stay again on a Hotwire or Priceline bid... if memory serves I got it on PL for $141. No way would I pay the hotel's rack rate but I could live with the HOTWIRE rate you've got. Good luck! And use the HOTWIRE link here on the site! Rob
  8. Don't despair! I've stayed both at the Mercure (all be it over 20 years ago) and at the Hilton (now Pullman) next door a couple of years ago. The location is great and the metro is not far. RER also is close if you want to go to Versailles. I have seen Trip Advisor reviews for hotels I've stayed in that have made me wonder if the person was staying in the same hotel or not. Hopefully you'll have a great time. Rob
  9. As the moderator mentioned there is a lack of 3* hotels in that area. But that's good news! There are many 4* hotels and prices as low as $60 USD with PRICELINE. Rob
  10. Normally I'd say wait... but of you're pretty sure it's the Amrath I'd jump now. Having seen it and been in the lobby that's the hotel I'd most want to stay at on my next trip to Amsterdam. I've stayed at the Moevenpick and Krasnapolsky in the past but I'd go for the Amrath! Hope this helps. Rob
  11. I've used both with great results and as noted sometimes there is an advantage to use HOTWIRE over PRICELINE... a couple of examples in my case: - We prefer to use the Hotel Crystal in Montreal... it is not available on Priceline so we use HOTWIRE. Until recently it was the only 4 1/2 star so it was easy to get! - I find it is often easier to pinpoint exactly which hotel you'll get with Hotwire. For me, this is important in places like Paris as with Priceline you can end up with a hotel way out by the Peripherique. With Hotwire I pretty well know exactly which hotel I'll get. OTOH, if you're bidding on a central hotel in Amsterdam you really can't get a bad location with PRICELINE. Either way, betterbidding.com is always the place to check BEFORE bidding anywhere! Rob
  12. A new hotel at CDG? Bid 90 USD and got the Millenium Paris CDG Hotel on Rue des Vergers at CDG the night before our flight out. I was surprised as I had not found it on any list. IMHO this is not a 4 star hotel but it was clean and adequate enough for one short night. At 104 USD including taxes and Priceline fees it was a fair deal. Rob
  13. As of now I believe the Crystal is the only 4.5* in Montreal so it's easy to spot. The amenities were: nonsmoking fitness center pool restaurant business center hispeed internet spa
  14. While the Marquis is a new addition you'll need to remove the Hilton Eiffel Tower from the list as it is now a Pullman Hotel. Rob
  15. Used a HOTWIRE link here at betterbidding and got the Hotel Crystal for $135 a night. One dollar more than we paid between Xmas and New Year. We really like the hotel because of it's location and the fact that it's all suites. Rob
  16. My wife and I had a 2 night stay at the Le Crystal in Montreal between Christmas and New Year 2008. I got the room via Hotwire for $134 a night using the link here in the forum. It is the only downtown Montreal hotel that is a 4.5* on Hotwire so I won't go through the amenities list. The hotel is well located on Mountain Street (de la Montagne) right across from the Bell Centre and only a short block away from Ste Catherine Street. The hotel is only just over a year old. We checked in and were upgraded free of charge to a larger suite. The suite was very modern and most comfortable. There were flat screen TVs in both the living room and bedroom and the bathroom was HUGE with a rain forest shower. Highspeed wifi was free. A newspaper appeared at our door each morning although why they left us a Toronto paper on day 2 I have no idea! This is Montreal! LOL We were visiting family so did not dine in the restaurant which looked very nice... we had a drink both evenings in the small bar and it was very pleasant. Valet parking was quick, friendly and efficient with an offer of directions if needed every time we picked up the car. The front desk was super quick at both check in and on departure. We'd highly recommend this hotel... very modern, comfortable and well located. We'll stay again. Rob
  17. On Friday August 1 my bid was accepted right away at $65 a night for August 8 and 9, 2008. I used the PRICELINE link here on the board. Thanks for having me as a member! Rob
