  1. Thanks - I did use the PRICELINE link from BB to bid.
  2. Last minute trip to LB - first bid accepted $59 - Hotel Maya - 3.5* LB Zone
  3. Bid 5* at $68; added 4* at same rate, both declined. Rebid at $77 - accepted. Mixed reviews on this property, but for one night in downtown and walkable to Gaslamp - can't beat the price! (all other sites and Hyatt's own site showing $229)
  4. Any ideas on which hotel? Arrival 10/2 - 1 night Gaslamp Quarter/Conv Ctr District Boutiqe, Fitness, Rest, Non-Smoking, Internet $109/nt - Hotwire Rate - 95% recommend Thanks!
  5. I stand corrected. In digging deeper through the e-mail and documentation, it does indeed say LGB airport zone. Wanted to clarify and close out this thread. Thanks again for the great info on this site.
  6. It doesn't say anything below the hotel name and above that address on the confirmation - it's blank. Anyway, it worked for me for my needs for this trip, given the price. Clearly, tho, this property is carried as a 3* in the downtown zone in LB. Thanks for the follow-up!
  7. Had to do a last minute trip to Long Beach and bid $48. Bid was accepted (that's the good news), but at the the Holiday Inn Dowtown. (that's the bad news). I did NOT select the Airport Zone, and felt comfortable that the HI would not be one of the possibilities. Had I had a reasonble idea that HI would be a choice, I would have gone higher and left out the 3* category. Yet, there I will be staying. Oh well, perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised, and the free parking and free internet may make up for it (that is supposedly provided). Anyway, be aware the Holiday Inn LB (Dwnt Area) is now included in the Long Beach Zone at 3*, not the Airport zone. Yes, I used the PRICELINE link from here to bid! Oh, stay dates 8/22-23.
  8. Forgot to provide all the info- Win was at LB Hilton and Conf Center on Ocean Blvd for stay date 5/13-14. Bid on 5/12.
  9. To close this out, bid $55, 3.5* zone 1 - accepted at Hilton. Hilton website shows $174; HOTWIRE 4* is $88, so am quite pleased! I did use the PRICELINE link provided below. Thanks again
  10. Thank you - I was going to use Zone 1 - start at $65 with max of $85. Appreciate your help.
  11. Any idea on how to AVOID Hotel Maya in Long Beach. My guess is that it's carried with all the other 3.5* (HOTWIRE has them usually as 4*, but PRICELINE doesn't). Thanks!!
  12. Just to close this out - Ended up using Priceline - got Grand Hyatt at $82/nt - great rate for location - having stayed there in the past, the hotel is probably more 3.5* but for my needs for this trip, can't beat the price! Bid Union Sq E at 4*, first bid accepted at $82. Hyatt website was showing internet only, immediate purchase price of $135, rack rate of $169-199, so I am pleased with the deal.
  13. Just to close this out - this trip was cancelled - thanks for the help
  14. Any help identifying? Amenities shown are fitness, dining, business center and internet. Showing $137. If the InterContinental, any experience with this? Thanks!
  15. Bid 4* LAX $75 rejected Added 3* bid $65 - accepted for LAX Hilton Quite pleased since Hilton's website show best avail at $229!
  16. Also, doesn't the "always smokefree" icon indicate a Marriott or Starwood brand? More support for the property being the Renaissance, but I would hardly call it 4.5* !
  17. Thanks for the update. Interesting, when I do a search for a one nite stay followed by a 3 nite stay - the 4.5* option doesn't show up. But, when I reverse it (a 3 nite stay, followed by a 1 nite stay) it does. More interestingly, the rate for the one night (Fri 6/27) shows at $99 - that seems awfully cheap for the IC Yorkville. Looking at the maps, theoretically, the property could be the one of several others. All would be acceptable EXCEPT the Renaissance Toronto Dowtown, which is in the mapped area. Judging from the price tag, is there a strong reason to believe this could be the Renaissance? Thanks again!
  18. Thanks for all you help - this site is great. Sorry for all the questions - I'm the newbie guy here. Do folks ever buy one night to determine the hotel, and if it's the one they want then buy the balance of the nights (if a multiple night stay). Does HOTWIRE and/or the hotel care about this? (the back-to-back stays)? Also, is there any relationship between what Hotwire shows and what the "best-guess" property shows on it's own website as to price/availability? Thanks again - the info is really appreciated!
  19. Question - Since InterContinentals website is showing Toronto Centre sold out for those dates, that makes Yorkville more likely. BUT, Orbitz shows IC Yorkville as 5*, so is it possible that it's some other property and Hotwire is inflating the stars? Thanks for any input
  20. Need help identifying (from Hotwire) 4.5 Downtown Toronto West Amenities: ALWAYS smoke free rooms, pool, business center, fitness center, restaurant, internet Tripadvisor - 4.0 - over 100 reviews, last March 2008 $144 - June 24 -28, 2008. Intercontinental Yorkville? The Tripadvisors reviews doesn't match up. The "always" non-smoking doesn't match with the IC site. Ideas? Thanks!
