  1. 3.5* Hotwire listed for $157 (elsewhere $219) Lombard/Oak Brook/Downer's Grove area, 90% hotwire guest approval rating I know that Doubletree Oak Brook has rooms listed for $249 online. Marriott Oak Brook has rooms for $219, so I'm guessing Marriott? Amenities Listed: Indoor Pool, Smoke-free rooms, fitness center, Restaurant, Laundry facilities, free parking, Business Center, High Spd Internet, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the Deaf, Accessible for Blind, Accessible Path of Travel, In-room Accessibility, Accessible Bath, Handicapped Parking, Accessible Shower Thank you,
  2. Started at $50 and worked my way up. At $61, got a counterbid offer to add $21. Ignored and kept bidding till I won 3 rooms, 2 nights each for $74. Lowest price on hotel site was $169/night. Very happy with the central location. Used your PRICELINE links.
  3. We ended up using the backup reservation with Enterprise.
  4. Thanks for the advice. I used your links, tried again tonight - Bid $30 + bonus money, rejected and then added Full-size SUV and bid $35 + bonus money. No luck. Any thoughts? I could try again tonight and bid from June 27-July 9 and return the car a day early since it's kind of expensive to park a car in downtown Seattle for the last night. Could take the train with my family back to the airport.
  5. Currently holding a backup with Enterprise for $854 for this 13 day period for a minivan. Alamo for this same period offers minivan for $1,014. Hotwire rate is $48/day or $927 total Bid $22 + 1.67 bonus money - Pop up suggested that $44 had a good chance of being accepted and $47 had a very good chance of being accepted. Stuck to original bid and was rejected. Added large SUV which also seats 7 - bid $25 + $1.62 bonus money and was rejected. Will try again one more time tomorrow. Would appreciate any advice on what I should bid. Thank you.
  6. Started at $35 with $10 bonus money at SEA airport. Added Downtown Pike's Place, figuring had very low chance of winning a 3* bid there and I don't think there are any free rebid zones for 3 star. Won $40 plus $10 bonus money for 2 rooms, one night. Very happy with this win as I hear there is easy access to public transport to downtown. Used your PRICELINE link.
  7. Ended up getting a quad room (needed two beds for us and kids) at Premiere Inn Heathrow, booked direct for 99 GBP. First room they gave us was unacceptable. Broken curtain rod, dirty room with webs and spider hanging down from ceiling--twin beds for kids on floor. Next room was fine. Breakfast was very good, but internet was 9 GBP for 24 hrs and you could not even call down to reception from the phone i room. Would not stay there again.
  8. Ended up staying at the Hampton Inn--booked a AAA price of $161. Needed two beds, so didn't want to chance it. Shuttle came quickly. Room all right. Will look for another hotel (need one with a pool to entertain kids) on the way back. Had dinner after 9:30p next door at JFK hotel and it was surprisingly good. Had a few issues that were addressed by hotel staff to our satisfaction. Thanks for all your help.
  9. Bid $60, got counteroffer to up bid by $20. Ignored, logged out, bid again with free rebid $65, got another counteroffer. Will try again.
  10. Tried priceline tonight. Started at 3* JFK at $65, used 5 free bids up to $90, got counteroffer to up bid by $15. Ignored, logged out. Tried last bid at $93. Got another $15 counteroffer. Will try again. Have a backup at the Hampton Inn for $188 night including all taxes. 3 star hotels like Hilton Garden Inn and Marriott Courtyard are pricing at $269 for the night of 7/20. Used your PRICELINE links.
  11. Arriving JFK 9pm. Just need a clean place to sleep before departing for LHR 12 hours later. I've pricelined here before--had luck pricelining a 2.5 star years ago that was fine for what it was. If you have other thoughts, I'd love to hear. Thank you.
  12. Started at $55 for a 3*, used 5 free rebids (Bayside, Elmhurst, Jamaica and combinations) up to $75. No luck. Will try again in a couple days. Used your PRICELINE link.
  13. Husband wanted a pool and fitness center so I decided to book the hotwire rate of $85/nite for 4*. Ended up being the San Jose Fairmont. Very happy with result. Thanks for all your assistance. Used your link.
  14. Sorry, I meant that Hotwire 4star went from $78, $79, $80 to $85.
  15. Originally, $65. Now I think I'd bid up to $75/night. Hotwire is now showing 4 star San Jose property at $85/night for 6/29-7/2. It has gone from $68-69-70 to $85 today.
  16. Oops, I meant that HOTWIRE now showing $80 night for same 4 star property. Started bidding at $59 up to $65, no luck. Had two free rebids left, so I logged out and started over using San Jose and one of my free rebids $67. This time I got the counteroffer to add at least $20. Instead, I added my last free rebid with $69 bid. Rejected.
  17. No luck bidding up to $69 for San Jose 4 star using all free rebids just now. Hotwire now showing $70 for same 4 star property on 6/29-7/2. Will try again. Used your link as usual.
  18. Tried again tonight for San Jose 4star. Bid $59, used 4 free rebids, Milipitas $61, Mtn. View $63, Newark-Fremont $66, SJ. South $69. No luck. Will try again. Bid through your PRICELINE link.
  19. Just tried pricelining San Jose 4*. Started at $53, added Free Rebids in $3 increments for Milipitas, Newark, Mtn. View, SJose So. ending at $65. No luck. Will try again. Used your link.
  20. Thanks Colfax and Thereuare. Doubletree has been showing up a fair amount as a priceline win lately, though I haven't seen my dates. Both Doubletree and Fairmont have availability for around $190/night on their websites. I might go the priceline route as 4 star rooms in San Jose seem to be showing up for around $65/night. Doubletree would be convenient. Fairmont would be fine, too. Would you recommend trying now, starting at $55 or waiting till less than a week out? I always use your links. Thanks, Peace
  21. Thanks for your prompt reply. Hilton San Jose is showing sold out on their website for those dates.
  22. Searched 3 nights for one person 6/29-7/2 in San Jose. 4* for $78 with these amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, HiSpeed Internet Recommended in 95% of customer reviews. I searched tripadvisor's hotel rankings and none have 95% approval ratings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  23. I have 4 adults and two children, so a two bedroom condo is kind of ideal. Otherwise, I'd have to get two hotel rooms (one with two double beds). I don't think it's the Carlsbad Seapointe as it's also listed as a 3* hotwire option (non-opaque) which makes me doubt it is the Carlsbad Inn as I'd guess that would have the same rating as the Carlsbad Seapointe? Thanks.
  24. Sorry. All amenities for this 3.5* Carlsbad property include: Condo, Spa Svcs, 2 bdrm suite, Resort, High Speed Internet, 24 hr. front desk, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, A/C, Daily Housekeeping, Smoke-Free Rooms, Fully Equipped Kitchens, Near Beach. Could this be the Carlsbad Inn? Or Carlsbad Seapointe? Thank you for any thoughts.
  25. Hotwire 3.5 star Carlsbad condo comes up for $169 on 11/5. Amenities: Condo, Resort, Near Beach, 2Bdrm, Fully Equipped Kitchen, Smoke-Free, Daily housekeeping, A/C Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
