  1. It was a long struggle. After starting at $44, raised to $47, then $50. At $50 I got a counteroffer to add $14.

I ignored it an went ahead with $53 (got counteroffer to add $15!), $55 (same +$15 counteroffer) and finally $58 was accepted.

The hotel lists for $149 on the Hilton website. Hotwire lists it (I'm pretty sure but one can never tell - all we know is that it is a 4* with matching amenities...) for $71.

  2. Working my way up, I started from $32, in steps of $3.

At $38 I got a counter offer for $11, which I ignored. Eventually got the Shilo Inn for $44.

This is for some reason a very busy period as many 4* and 3* hotels has no availability.

The Shilo showed no availability on Orbitz!!
