  1. First bid at $70 rejected. PL immediately counter-offer at $81. Didnt want to be bother with re-bidding. Accepted PL offer at $81.
  2. The location is great, a few steps from Green Park tube and walking distance to SOHO, Chinatown. Unfortunately the hotel will assign one of those Priceline room, small with no view (back cornor room). Thats what I got last year. May be you will do better this year. Good luck.
  3. Checking in: June 9, 2011 Checking out: June 12, 2011 (3 nights) 1 Room
  4. 1st bid at $100 rejected. Then add Westminster, increased bid to $105, rejected. The add Mayfair-SOHO, increased bid to $110, rejected. Then add Wembley (free rebid zone), kept bid at $110, rejected. The add Hammersmith (free rebid zone) and increased bid to $115. Accepted at the London Marriott Marble Arch.
  5. For those staying at the Delta Chelsea, please be aware that they have a labour strike going on right now affecting all aspects of the hotel. The pool and hot tub facilities are closed. Housekeeping is hit and miss. Definately not a 3.5* experience. The front desk have a pretty much "I can't do anything about it and I dont care" attitude.
  6. Just across the street from the conference centre, exactly where I wanted. Accepted on 1st bid, perhaps I could have gone a bit lower.
  7. This is the property that I wanted to stay, so I started at $60 - rejected, but with so many "free rebid" zones in the Toronto area, I kept on going by adding "free rebid" zones and increasing the bid price, and finally won at $71.
  8. Romelle, I can confirm that it is the Sofitel Paris La Defense located at 34 cours michelet. I also emailed the hotel directly to confirm my PL reservation and made a request for a non-smoking room and early check-in. They have replied back and confirmed the reservation is in order. I was a bit surprised that I got his hotel since it is rated a 5* in PL regular booking site booking.com.
  9. The weekend rate on Expedia for this property is $144 all in, so you are saving about 35%, so I say you are doing pretty good.
  10. This is the "extend the stay" offer for my original bid for 9/24/10-9/28/10 for La Defense - Neuilly. I accepted the Priceline offer of $171 for 9/28/10-10/2/10 for the additional nights since I didnt want to switch hotel midway through the trip. It is interesting that the Sofitel is rated as a 5 star in Priceline regular booking site "booking.com".
  11. I've been bidding since the beginning of July for 9/24/10 to 10/02/10 (8 nights) at around $120, sometime as high as $140, but Priceline keeps coming back "Select a Hotel" and no offer to rebid. Finally decided this morning to split the bid into 2. First bid at La Defense - Neuilly at $120 and got accepted immediately. Was offered to extend stay, so I added the addiitonal days to 10/02/10. $120 was not accepted, but was offered $171 to extend, since I didnt really want to switch hotel midway through the stay, so I accpeted the $171 offer. Current price at Sofitel site is $355 per night. In summary: 9/24/10 to 9/28/10 @ $120 (1st bid) 9/28/10 to 10/02/10 @ 171 (extend the stay)
  12. Well, I can only report what I experienced bidding for Paris 4* in late September. I've been bidding every 2nd day since mid-June and each time, I ended up in Priceline "Select A Hotel" land, and there is no way out of it. Have to wait 24 hours to rebid. I was looking for a 8 nights stay, may be the length of stay has something to do with it?
  13. I'm bidding for the week after and experienced the same response from PRICELINE, no offer to rebid but getting PRICELINE select a hotel as an alternative. I'm kind of speculating here, but it may be suggesting that PRICELINE has no inventory yet for September. I'm basing my guess on even Expedia does not have inventory yet for September, only August at the moment. Hotel website only offering rack rate, not even advanced booking rate. Going back one year ago, some of the successful bids for September are in August, so I think hotels in Paris are holding inventory until 4-6 weeks out. I've used the PRICELINE link above to bid, but since they are all failed bids, not sure it will benefit BetterBidding?
  14. 1st bid (Westminster) at $102 rejected. PL immediately counter offered to raise bid by $20. Declined. Added Bloomsbury and Marble Arch at $105. Accepted at the Park Plaza Victoria. I was expecting to get the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge as someone got the same same hotel and at the same price for the week before. But this will do. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $105.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $420.00 (USD) PL Reward Cash: -$30.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $85.88 (USD) Total Room Cost: $475.88 (USD)
  15. It happened to me on a recent stay. Please report back so we can have more data.
  16. You are aware that the Sheraton Toronto has recently started a price gouge practice for Priceline wins. They will assign the smallest room with only a single double bed and if you want a larger room, you'll have to fork out an extra $C 20+tax to "upgrade" to a king or 2 double bed room!
  17. Any luck booking for May 11 & May 12? I've tried up to $110 for mid-week stay in May with no success. May be it is still to early? Conrad best rates for mid-week is about $US 227, so I guess it will take at least $125 to win if inventory is available.
  18. 4* London (Mayfair-SOHO) Hilton London Green Park $95 per night for 01/24 - 01/27. Got it on first bid (probably over-bidded) Sorry, didnt use the link for this one. Will do that next time.
