  1. Tried bidding $50, then $55. No luck, so went with a $63 un-named 3-star under their Express Deals. Total w/ tax and fees = $79. Best Western website would have been $112 incl. tax/fees, so saved about $33.
  2. Was pretty much expecting this hotel from the hotel list/amenities and Trip Advisor hints. Mission Valley Resort 875 Hotel Circle S., San Diego, CA, 92108 Amenities Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby Hotel rate per night - $39.00 Nights: 3 Subtotal: $117.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: $19.82 Total price: $136.82 Had several failed bids on Priceline for 2.5-3* in San Diego(Mission Valley) between $45-$53/night. Could have booked 3* Ramada Seaworld for $65/night directly. In the end, decided on cheapest- just need a place to sleep.
  3. Bid $45 for 2.5* in disneyland area only and was rejected. Added 2* hotels and increased bid to $50 and got this. It's currently listed on the property website for $149. (My original Priceline bid yesterday for 3* failed with a max bid of $65.) 4. I just tried to get a 3* in Disneyland area for 1 night this Saturday, 10/20/07, but no luck. Bid history: Disneyland Area, $45. Add Re-bid zone Anaheim Hills, up bid to $50 Add Re-bid zone Laguna Beach, upto $55 Add Re-bid zone Laguna Hills, up to $60 Add Re-bid zone Seal Beach, up to $65 Seems others had luck in this price range in the past few weeks. I don't want to go lower than 3* and the other zones are too far. If I wait 24 hours and try again, should I start bidding where I left off? I don't want to spend more than $100 with all the taxes/fees included.
  5. Sorry- I put the date in the title only. This is for 10/12/06. Seemed from the PL maps that the Mariott for around $95 had been done before. I don't mind a lower rated property, if I can get one for around $100. (But not as low as 1* ) If not, I'm ok with trying the Kona area.
  6. I'd like a room in Waikoloa, but not sure what I can get for around $100. I'm confused by the Kamuela zone- it shows 1*, 2*, 2.5* and Resorts. Any idea what the lower star hotels are? Maybe condos? What about the Mariott? I thought it was a 4*- Is it gone or now a different star level? I bid earlier today on Priceline: $80, Kamuela zone, Resorts- Rejected Added Hilo zone and bid $90 - Rejected What to do now?
  7. Bidding History: Bid 4*, Downtown Area, $48. Rejected and got counteroffer to increase by $14 to $62. Ignored this. Added Re-Bid Zone Airport (SLC) and bid $50. Rejected. Added Re-bid Zone South Salt Lake and bid $53. Accepted. Marriott Salt Lake City Downtown 75 S West Temple Salt Lake City, Utah 84101 801-531-0800 Your Offer Price: $53.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $106.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $21.95 Total Charges: $127.95 Won thru savingsbarn.com
  8. Thanks for the detailed strategy! I tried the 4* bidding a few days ago, but didn't win anything. I'll chck out the 3* hotel list and possibly try that over the weekend....
  9. I could add those other areas. We're going to be arriving into Penn Station, so something close to it would be nice.
  10. TravelZoo released this promotion for the Beekman Tower Hotel in midtown Manhattan (near the UN). Rates good December 19, 2005 - March 31, 2006 with code TRVZOO. It is refundable until a day before. I like the location and the hotel has good reviews. Do you think I could do significantly better by bidding on Priceline? Maybe worth it if I can save $50/night. But I haven't seen too many wins posted recently...
  11. Hotwire was $94, so based on the post by garcialouie, I bid $70 on San Diego (Coastal) and thought we may get the same Hilton Torrey Pines. My first request did not go through because of some problem with how I typed in the credit card name/address and security code. It let me try about 3 times and when it still couldn't verify the credit card, it denied the request but said I could try again. I re-did my second request with another card and to my surprise, the bid was accepted on the first try! (Hilton website had this at $149 for same date.) Also a surprise was that we got the Hilton Resort near SeaWorld, instead of Torrey Pines (perfect because the purpose of the trip is SeaWorld). San Diego Coastal 1775 East Mission Bay Drive San Diego, California 92109 619-276-4010 Check-In Date: Thu, Nov 24, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, Nov 25, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.55 Total Charges: $85.55
