I started bidding low based on past history of this area, but didn't get this easily. Here is my history. 48 - reject 51 - reject Used up my free rebids. waited for 2 days 54 - reject 58 - reject Used up my free rebids. waited for 1 day 62 - reject, counter offer of 77 was received. I suspect they might have been successfully obtained at a lower price. But something changed in the last ~10 days. I haven't seen Red Lion coming up as a successful bid that often. But anyways I am happy with the option. Its probably $20 less than hotel website/hotwire and its really close to the airport :)

Thnx for all your inputs colfax. I did go ahead and book the same hotel. It indeed turned out to be the Holiday Inn. I will stay there one night on Dec 26. I know about the mixed reviews but I think the slightly more central location and easy access to many restaurants will be better. I made a mistake though and forgot to use your link to HOTWIRE. Sorry... Will definitely do so next time. Thanks for your inputs and help.

I am planning to be in SD for 2 night from 12/25 to 12/27. Need 1 room. I found the following on hotwire: 3-star hotel in SeaWorld - Mission Bay - Shelter Island $54 per night Hotwire limited rate is mentioned on the side. it features Pools, Restaurant, Laundry, High speed internet access. Is this the Holiday Inn Mission Bay/Sea World? If yes, thats good. I like the free parking and relatively decent proximity to balboa park and other places. If you have any other suggestions for $60 or less per nite with free parking in a 10 mile radius around Balboa Park area, I am open to that too. Thanks in advance.
