Bidding advice...Interested in finding a 4 or 5* hotel room on the strip for May 18 through the 21st. Would prefer to be a bit North. Or if you have any info on good deals that weekend...
SUCCESS! $75 for the 4* Wyndham Boston on 2/19/06.
I followed your suggested strategy and finally captured the room when I hit the first $75 mark try. Thanks a lot for your assistance once again, and I did book throug the SavingsBarn.com link. BetterBidding is the best.
The only bummer is that is doesn't look good for the Wyndham By Request perks; but I could take the money I saved and spend it on something I really want -- like dinner out!
Until next time...
Willing to pay up to $90 for 4* downtown-copley-WTC for one night (Sunday, 2/19/2006)...only $65 if it comes to "outlying" areas like cambridge (which is possible, but...). Thanks for any assistance!
Go it...
$70, rejected
added rebid zone, $75 rejected
added second rebid zone, $80
Accepted: Marriott Copley Place
Total: $98.03 with tax
Used BetterBidding SavingsBarn.com link.
Thanks for all the assistance.
There's been a slight change in plans, and I'll also answer your question:
* I now need a room Dec. 17 in Boston for one night
* 4-star only
* I don't want to bid more than $100 is the most important
* The order of zones I would like to bid in (in order of preference) is:
-- Copley
-- Downtown
-- maybe WTC
Could expand search to include
copley and WTC area. 3 1/2 * is a possiblity as well. Any help is much appreciated.
Got it...
Bid $45 for Downtown -- rejected.
Counteroffered "add $13" -- ignored
Added safe zone, $50 bid.
Accepted: Hyatt Regency.
Thanks for your help.
Willing to pay up to $100 for downtown-copley-WTC for two nights on M and T nights...only $70 if it comes to "outlying" areas like cambridge (which is possible, but...).
Took the good monte rate...cancelled it...and took the even better MGM rate. Thanks for the advice.
OK, I reserved the Monte for $99 a night. Great deal (through EasyClickTravel). What should I look for, or try to do, for priceline or hotline moving forward knowing that I am going to be spending most of my time at Caesar's and can actually afford more than $99...
Actually, the Monte Carlo rate sounds good, but I am no huge hurry. Should I hold out and try priceline or is hotwire a better option? The main gist is that I am attending a meeting for my dates and Cesears is offering $189/night and I like my company so I want to save them some money, if possible. So my main goal is to be somewhat near the Palace in someplace nice where I can walk or justify a cab for the money I'm saving. (Also, it looks like I should have posted in the priceline section, not the tips, can you move my posting?). Thanks for any assistance.
Budget up to $140 for a 4* or 5* on the strip from Nov 6-9. Any help is greatly appreciated. Should this be a hotwire attempt?
Bingo! Got the room on my first try with the second round...deatils (hope I do this right):
Hyatt Regency Chicago
4*
Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area
Your Offer Price: $110.00
Number of Rooms: 4
Number of Nights: 3
Subtotal: $1,320.00
Taxes & Service Fees: $222.32
Total Charges: $1,542.32
First bid try per the last strategy described above.
I did finalize this through SavingsBarn.com.
Thanks a ton. A great effort. My friends and I saved at least $400 (and this is a nicer hotel).
Tried your strategy to a "t" but no takers...(and the re-bid zones worked perfectly -- thanks). Next steps?
Thanks for helping me out...
Here's the scoop:
We need four or five rooms for 10 people (but it could drop to 8, so I'm not too worried about the double occupancy issue). I've done some looking and it looks like Hotwire is about $182 and I even saw the Knickerbocker Mill. on Orbitz for $169. We are definitely interested in the N Mich Ave and Mill Park loop areas on Priceline. For Hotwire, it would be Mag Mile and NMA. So I would say we'd go up to $180. What do you think?
Hi all, newbie here (although I have used priceline a lot; but just found this site):
A group of 10 of us were going to New Orleans for Labor Day (9/2 - 9/5). Not happening. We are now making last second plans for Chicago. We want to stay somewhere where cars are not required and the rooms are decent. But we're flexible. Is hotwire or priceline better for us? What should we bid and where? I am leaning towards 3* or 4* in the Loop area...
Sorry to muck things up, but I just found out my group is going to Chicago for this last minute trip. I will post in that forum about possible bids on priceline hotels...appreciate any help there.
Newbie to this board (but many years of priceline "work"):
Group of about 10 (3 rooms) had reservations to New Orleans this weekend; obviously that isn't happening. We are being given the chance by airlines to fly elsewhere on Friday-Monday. If we decide on NYC, how should I bid on 3 rooms in any part of Manhattan? Is is advantageous in any way that we're last minute? Or should we stick with Hotwire, where rooms are about $180 - $200 for something decent? Location isn't important, but we'd probably like 3* at least b/c it's Priceline. Any help is much appreciated. We're also thinking of Chicago; would we be better off getting a deal there?
4 or 5* on Strip for May 18-21st. Or good deals on nice places.

Is it realistic to top out at about $125 a night? that's what I would like to do...
