  1. I started at $60 and added increments of $2-3 and won at $74. I probably could have waited longer to bid but the last time I noticed the prices went up so I wanted to try early again. I'm pleased with this hotel as I have stayed here before and liked it. Since they changed the San Diego zones, the 4 star Misison Bay is either Paradise Point, Hilton or the Hyatt. I would have been happy with either one but I like the Hawaii tropical feel of Paradise Point.
  2. Just the hotel I wanted!! Seems a bit pricy for Merced but the hotel's website was charging $108 so its still a great deal. Will be in town for an engagement party. I started at $45 and bid up in $5 increments over a period of two days using all 3 of my credit cards since there are no free rebid zones there. Thsi hotel has bree wifi, free parking, free breakfast beuufet, etc. and its fairly new and has amazing reviews!
  3. Thanks! Is there a way to change to post to show $93 and not $937? I dont see a way to delete it and start over or to edit the price.
  4. I’ve been checking the bids on here but thought it was too early to bid for Labor Day weekend. When Priceline emailed me with a $7 bonus cash 24 hour sale I figured I would give it a try. I’m not sure if it’s a marketing scheme or if it actually dos save you money but I decided to give it a try anyway. I have been bidding here and there over the past few weeks but did not go over $85. I did the same thing here until I saw that someone had a win at the end of August for $91 so I knew I was close. I bid $93 and won The Westgate. (Priceline added and paid the extra $7 so technically it was bid at $100) I’m sure if I waited another month or so I would have been able to get a room for a bit cheaper but I ended up getting the Westgate and it is directly across the street from the Civic Theatre which is right where I want to be. I will be attending a musical there that night and will be able to walk across the street. Horton Plaza is also very close. I know this hotel charges extra fees, etc. such as a $15 resort fee and $30 to park. I'll be getting dropped off so I won’t have to pay for parking and I may be able to get the resort fee lifted since their entire pool/fitness center/reason for the resort fee is still under construction. Overall, I'm happy with this hotel. I would have also been happy with the Westin or something else downtown, but the Westgate is extremely convenient and the pictures of the hotel look quaint and lovely. If I had waited until the last minute, I may not have secured this location so in this instance, booking in advance worked out in my favor.
  5. Never Mind that last part, I just looked up memorial day and see that it's the weekend after. Still a great deal though. Hotwire had it for $129
  6. Hi, I'm the one that got it for $74. I think it just has to do with the days you chose. I saw that someone else had won the hotel for $73 for the exact same night as me so I knew that going in and was hoping it would be the same. Also, I bid this a few days ago on Friday the 4th. Maybe they update things at the beginning of the week? Also, I bid mine only a week in advance so maybe they are more likely to issue the rooms for less if they are not filled by a certain date? Either way, you should still be really happy with $92. I totally would have paid that much if I had to keep going up. I stayed in a crappy 3 star a few weeks ago for $65 which doesn't seem like a lot but it is compared to this paradise deal. I guess you just win done and lose some. The prices usually go up as the weather gets nicer and it gets closer to summer so maybe your trip is after the cut off? Or wait, looks like you are going to be there during memorial day weekend? I'm sure that is why it's a bit more, that's a major steal for a memorial day weekend 4 star hotel!
  7. I was excited to get this hotel and hoping it would have been this one and not one up in La Jolla as I wanted to be as close to Point Loma as possible for Mother's Day. I know the reveiws at this place are mixed but I think that depends on what you are paying for the property. I would probably not pay the $255 asking price from the hotel's website but you can't go wrong with $74!! I even called and they made sure to set me up with 2 queen beds and I am planning on asking for a free room upgrade wheh I check in :) I looked up some wins for Priceline's name your own price to determine how good my chances were of getting either this hotel or the Hyatt nearby because I did not want to get one in La Jolla. There seemed to be some recent activity that pointed to this hotel but you never can be too sure. I first tried $70, then $72, then won it at $74. I am very happy with this win. FYI, Hotwire was asking $129 for their 4 star reports in this area (either Paradise Point or the Hyatt) so this time Priceline gave me a steal!! Make sure you thoroughly look into the wins before deciding which one to go with. I am normally a Hotwire girl because I like the location options better but took a chance based on my research and it paid off!!
  8. Amenities shown before purchase: 3-star Hotel in Gaslamp Quarter North - Horton Plaza This Hotel features the following amenities: Airport Shuttle <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. The only bad thing is that I believe this hotel charges an additional $20 for parking but most of the hotels downtown do.
