  1. I know those areas extremely well...

Markham, be careful not to bid 3*'s otherwise you will get the Holiday Inn which is a little run down and charges for parking ($4)... BUT the new 2.5* Courtyard is superb with free highspeed internet. I have bid it many times and find that if they do not accept your $23 bid, there is no point in trying higher.

Mississauga also has a brand new Courtyard which accepts $23 as well as a Rez Inn by Marriott ... free parking and internet. Way back, there was a 3* Radisson that accepted in thew low 20's ... you might get upgraded but it is a decent hotel too.

DVP is my personal fav because the location is perfect .... the Crowne Plaza takes all the bids and is a great property. They are now charging $8 for parking and lately, it has taken much more to win bids for it. Check Hotwire first .... they list a 3* weekdays for only $31.

Choice hotels is heavily participating in Toronto now on PL .... and for 2*'s you could get a great Quality Hotel or a dumpy Comfert Inn so, I wouldn't chance it.

  2. Bid through savingsbarn for my parents ... I could have gotten a 2.5* or likely upgrade for $23 but those properties charge $8-$12 for parking...!!! On Expedia I was getting the 4* Wyndham Bristol place for $35 total with the "hotelbonus" special but once again a parking charge.

This was my second attempt for 2* .... $19 was rejected 3 days ago.

  3. Bid through Savingsbarn for a friend...

Bid based on failed bid reports on TOBB ..... tried up to $70 for a 4* just for the fun of it and than tried $55 for 3*'s and won .... there are NO free rebids for 3*'s in Montreal. Good reviews for the hotel except the location is a little away from the action.

  4. I helped a friend bid this over the phone.... This is in the new combined zone Union Square - Embarcardero

    We first tried 4* $55 but failed. Then $40, $45 for a boutique, than $40, $45 for a 3*...

We then tried another boutique offer for $50 and got a counter-offer to add $14 ... Instead, started a new 4-star bid and tried $60 and won at $65.

This zone is predictable based on posted info but with so many free rebids, I decided to try the lower bids anyway.

  5. I have stayed at this hotel twice. I had actually booked two night for my brother who was supposed to come and visit but cancelled. The hotel manager was nice enough to let me use both would-be lost nights in the future.

The lobby is small but decent .... looks more like an apartment building lobby with a small window to check-in. The rooms are a little old-fashioned but they are at least HUGE ... the largest I have seen in NYC. My first visit, I had small bachelor-style suite decorated in a shabby green .... but the second time, I got a full one-bedroom suite done up in a decent blue.

The area is fairly safe and quiet at night .... and one last point, I highly suggest booking this place if you have more than two guests, each suite offers a pull-out sofa bed to sleep two.

  6. Just gone one too .... timely, as I need to book three nights in Vegas for a friend Dec 4-7. She is worried about using priceline as they do not want the Westin. I tried for the Venetion up to $110 plus bonus and nothing. Hotwire has a 4.5* which looks like the MGM Grand because of the golf icon ... I think it was $117. I will post my results.

  7. I got this right after midnight when the bonus offer was to expire. My friends are going to watch a Bills game. I first tried Niagara Falls Canada/US and all my bids were rejected. This was my first bid for downtown...

  8. I'm at the PHX Hilton .... great 3* hotel, newly updated.

Ballooning is amazing .... but the hight is a bit scary and the baskets .... the sides are pretty short. It took me awhile to feel comfertable up at 2000 feet. The price is also quite reasonable .... $120 per person for a 90 minute flight ... plus, they provide a picnic and champagne afterwards.

Well, she said "YES" .... I proposed towards the end of the flight. She was looking away and I went down on one knee behind her, she turned around and just stared in shock (I was able to get out the fist two words "will you" and than paused for a bit before getting out the "marry me" part). This Saturday, we're having a big engagement bash in Scottsdale. Afterwards, we'll plan out when and where for the wedding.

I just signed on for the $44.95 weekly high-speed rate

  9. Hilarious ..... :)

Ask me in a few days and I will know ...

I am proposing tomorrow in PHX ... I booked a hot-air balloon for 3:30PM. If she says "NO" .... there will be a mighty expensive ring thrown overboard onto the Senora desert. BUT on a positive note, after seeing thereuare's post, I am getting worried about what 'being married' actually includes in the 'package deal'...???

Plus, changing your mind afterwards is harder than getting out of Priceline's no-refund policy.

  10. I had to bid this twice through savingsbarn for a friend's parents .... there are no rebids for Montreal. At least this will give me additional entries into the $25 drawing ... If I get around to entering all my October bids...!!!

First tried $41 for 3* and got a counter to add $8

    Than rejected at $25 for a 2* and $26 for 1*.

  11. Bid through savingsbarn for our flight the following day. This specific hotel allows you to park there for free and a cab to the aiport is about $10.

First bid was $26 and accepted ... there is no free rebids and the cheapest, I have seen posted so far was $28 ... actually, I got this once before for my parents for $29 or $30. They raved about the free breakfast and they are looking forward to grabbing some snacks this time around as SWA has no food. Thankfully, its a direct flight.

  12. Bid through savingsbarn for me and my parents....

I tried to bid for specific hotels using PL's vacations and the great thing is it gives a good idea of which hotels are accepting/available in different zones. AND when they answer back, you get an extensive list of prices for the hotels. In the end, I bought my flights through SWA because they had non-stops at $218 total from BUF-PHX.

I bid up to $45 for resorts, I tired up to $29 for a 3* in Mesa and got a counter-offer to add $7. Before trying again, I made the airport bid and got it. This price added to the flights, blows away their vacation offerings.
